I rehabbed an incredibly rusty greenlee 3" boat slick that I bought at a garage sale for a buck. Mine didn't need welding (and I don't know how to yet). But derusting it, sharpening it and turning a new handle for it was so much fun. I don't have any practical use for it, but I like having it hanging on my shop wall. Handle is epoxyed into the socket so I don't cut my toes off next time I pick it up. I don't quite trust rosin for something that heavy, wide and sharp. Keep up the good work, brother.

how come you brazed it instead of welding and re-heat treating? I wouldn't trust the heat treat and temper in that slab

@jimmydiresta Nice! I have s sneaking suspicion that you do not intend to actually use that old slick very much. Polyurethane on the handle? Really? That shit will just give you blisters & discolour & ultimately flake & peel off if you do use it to any extent. Boiled linseed oil & beeswax would suit a tool like that just fine. I also suspect you know all this & just wanted to protect it & look nice & used what you had on hand. Once again, nice job. Good to see old things fixed up, put to use & cared for again. Now if only someone would do that with me.

The clay trick for fitting the handle to the socket was clever. I’ve seen a lot of chisel handles turned but I’ve never seen that done before.

I like that you fixed it rather than making it shorter like you where thinking in the podcast. Turned out great!

Love how the brazing shows through, the color is great. The brazing really added to this tool's story. I think a subtle bronze/brass accent would really make that brazing line pop.
