If you can’t respect this man I can’t respect you. Even when the games seemed to be over, they never were. Was so fortunate I got to watch this man play while I grew up. Couldn’t be more happy to be a dallas fan. That one championship feels like 10. First superteam built, first super team downed. Guy never had a bad thing to say about anyone. I just love the way he carries himself on & off the floor. Mavericks fans are extremely lucky to have gotten this man on their side. We will never forget.
I was fortunate enough to be from DFW through 2010 and I saw Dirk play several times in person. Privileged to have seen him play. One of a kind. Still underrated in my view.
Nowitski was a monster scorer in an era where games could have scores with less than 80 points on both teams. Imagine what prime Nowitski’s ppg would be in a faster paced game like we have today
Dirk is so underrated. I really am starting to see and believe that he’s one of the best PF’s of all time, if not the best. Dirk was seriously special and clutch. An ideal PF in todays era.
Cold blooded assassin!!! He made that clutch shots like if they were layups... His confidence and will to win was amazing!!! Even Kobe was frustrated by him!!!
It has been an honor, joy, and pleasure watching this great player play the moment he came to Dallas until he retired. Through all the ups and downs, disappointments to success, it was awesome and I still look back at these highlights and see just how great he was.
2011 the best year in our history. Dirk was gonna make the hall of fame. I just wanted him to go in as a world champion. Mission accomplished # 41 forever.

Jon Fields mavs team had great players don’t get me wrong (Terry, Kidd, Tyson,Marion) but non of the players on the championship team were NBA all-stars at that time... most of them were just old veterans guys like dirk who were all title hungry. The way Dirk put those guys on his back and carried them past Kobe, KD, Westbrook, Harden, LeBron, Bosh, and Wade was legendary. #NeverForget Dirk is the Goat.
Jon Fields so they were deeper than OKC? Deeper than the Miami Heat? I don’t think so man... not taking anything away from my mavs don’t get me wrong but it was all Dirk.. sure some players had their moments but Dirk was the guy with 30+ points. They had great team chemistry but they were not deep. In fact, Jason Terry, Deshaun Stevenson, Brian Cardinal, and, Ian Mahimni were the only bench players who actually played game 6 of the finals.
Anthony Labra teams never go 10 deep in the playoffs, they keep their rotation way tighter as oppose to the regular season. And Jason terry was huge in the playoffs
All you need to know is this: In 2011, the Heat did EVE-RY-THING to make sure Dirk doesn't beat them. Double teams, traps, switches, flops, fouls... He did it anyway
I promise you this. Had they been in the playoffs the past couple of years and while he is around you will see even at this age why he is the GOAT PF. He just has no motivation right now.
