Hey man, I really like your videos! I am a 13 year old and i've been riding for about 9 months now. Ever since I was 7, I wanted a dirt bike. I asked for one every christmas, every birthday, and I finally got one. I knew how to drive manual before I even sat on a dirtbike, and my dad got an 1990's yamaha RT100 two stroke. The day we bought it, I had no gear except for a bicycle helmet, bike gloves and glasses. I tought myself that night then and there how to ride a dirtbike. And I have to say, You've tought me some stuff I dont know. Your videos cost me 1000$ less than i wouldnt had to pay for. Now I race motocross on my RM85 race bike, and after watching your tutorials it runs better than ever. Thanks a lot!
Thank you for the video. I am getting back into riding again. Instead of me going completely off road I bought a dual sport. I am slowly getting my gear together. Helmet and goggles was the first and on the way is boots armor and pants. Looking forward to see more of your videos. Thanks again
keep asking bro, parents can be persuaded! also try to get some part time job and get some $ together, if they see your effort they will be motivated to get one for you, parents like to support their kids effort. Good luck
Great video man that's good advice. Knee braces are next on my list too, forgot my knee pads at home one day and went riding anyway and ended up going down on sand when I whipped the bike around and bumped my knee cap into the end of my hand guards lol... Hurt for a while and work wasn't too fun for a month or two. Completely agree the best money you can spend in this sport should be on equipment
Enduro Skills I literally have every single piece of riding gear you could imagine… except knee braces. I'm pretty disappointed at how expensive a good pair of knee braces are. They're worth as much as my pit bike! Right now I have no knee protection. I was thinking about getting some cheap ones until I can save up to get the good ones. But that'll just set me back that much more and I don't have the best job so I don't make the most money.
All of the above are a must. If you ride, you WILL fall. Personally I like wearing impact pants as well. Helps the hips thighs and tailbone! Neck brace is a good idea too.
Great video. I never knew I needed so much gear. I thought a helmet was all I needed. I don't want to take the risk so I'll buy full body gear. Great to see your still active of this 4 year old video.
Thank you for the info! I already bought a FOX helmet, goggles, and gloves. Saving up for boots now. I want a Yamaha so my color combo is black, white, and blue.
Trust me guys, he isn’t kidding about knee guards, that is the only thing I don’t have and I went down 4 weeks ago and tore the meniscus in my right knee. Had to have surgery, then 6 weeks on a brace and 3 month before a full recovery. All time I will not get back this riding season.
I recommend getting gear before riding a dirtbike i learned that because my first time i fell downhill and scratched up my arms and stomach and arms luckily i had a helmet and chest piece
I use to wear single elbow pads, kidney belt, chest protector and spine protector but now i just wear the body armor. Much more easier and alot more comfortable
I like your videos and point of view. Thanks for the info. My kids are both wanting to get into the sport and I’m wanting to get back into it. Had a bad wreck when I was younger and if I’d had a knee guard or brace on I may have been able to walk the next day.
I'd recommend paying the extra money on a chest and back protector like fly racing, fox racing, ext it helps a ton when you go over the handle bars and fall on your back or ribs, trust me lol. Spend the extra money
Better to buy the protective gear than to pay the ortho later. I have the fox titan sport jacket and knee/shin guards and I would not ride without it. I've taken a number of spills into rocks etc. and it is nice for the gouges to be on the plastic instead of me. It hotter in the summer but well worth it IMHO.
Alright. I grew up around 4wheelers but never rode a dirt bike. I want to buy one soon. What's the difference in 2-stroke and 4stroke? I weigh 250lbs and I'm about 5'11". Should I get a 450? Being more on the heavy side. Or should I get a 250 bc I'm new. Thanks for everything
+Hannah Johnston 2 stroke is lighter and feels more nimble, less rotating mass. It's cheaper to maintain. It has vibrations and somewhat violent power band. 4 stroke is smooth, good to learn on, very linear power delivery. What about 350 4 stroke? KTM or Husky.
I weigh 105 kg and started on a 250 4-stroke but I never felt a lack of power. 300 or 350 would be good as well, I think. Personally, I prefer 4-strokes because the power delivery is predictable for a novice unlike on two-strokes. If you're worried about maintenance, you can buy a dual sport such as DR-Z400...
250 is cool but after i rode a friends 450 i had to have one wr 450f so much power its up to u but let me tell u 250 did me fine crf 250r it had big bore kit and it did me just fine it felt a gear behind my friends at top speed and acceeration on the 450 is wicked if u shift right.... its almost scary but thats the thrill to me shifting 1st second third fourth each time u let the clutch out and twisting it pulling ahead of u u hold on tighter the air applying resistqnce the front wheel getting lighter until u finally each 5th seconds go by but it feels like minutes u hit high revs on 5th the bike just cant pull no more faster and u let off shifting back down nice and easy shesh thats the feeling i love if u like it then go with a 450 save ur self some time in the future i was raised in a 4 stroke family never rode a 2 stroke above 80CC its been 2 years I know but i wanted to say this ahah
Great job my friend. If you can afford a Shoei or Arai helmet, get one. Really anything DOT and SNELL approved. Bell is good too. They used to have an ad, If you have a $5 head, buy a $5 helmet....lol
Hey Alex, that would be nice. The only problem is that my English is not clear enough for Google to understand me 100% so I would have to manually rewrite the subtitles. Not sure if I can do that due to lack of time. Sorry bro
If you turn the fuel crane on, and if the bike in cold, take on the choke. And then you give it one twist of the throttle, and kick it. I imagine it is the same for electric starters
All I've got is boots and a helmet, I might just buy mx pants and put some more protection on my legs. Every time I wreck I always hurt my legs so I wanna get something strong before I actually get hurt.
My problem with this is that I'm still growing so I don't want to spend 200$+ on boots and knee braces if I'm just gonna grow out of them in 3 months... Right now I wear steel toe military combat boots a helmet Google gloves and basic knee/shin guards. Please help
Logan Hall get things that you can afford at the time of need, upgrade over time once you reach your full body's maturity. Don't go cheep on a helmet your brains aren't replaceable.
You mentioned elbow pads but never talked anymore on them, I might have missed it. Do you use them? It seems lots do not but I would think they would be important? Great content!
I want to get a dirt bike so bad. I live on 90 acres and have open pastures and all kinds of trails on my property. But I feel like as soon as I get a bike, its only a matter of time before I get hurt. My dad is not a fan of me getting a dirt bike either, because he lost his leg in a motorcycle accident. What do I do?? Its looks like so much fun, but looks so dangerous.
Casey, that is something you need to get ready for,If you have dirt bike you will go down for sure, it doesn't have to be too bad though. I think dirt bikes are safer than street bikes, you dont have other drivers that will cause your accident, many street bikes accidents are caused by someone else.. this element is way smaller if you ride a dirt bike, also the crash on dirt bike tends to be little softer, you are not hitting pavement or concrete.. take it easy my friend!
I have a grandson that is 4 yrs old, my husband just brought him his first dirt bike, and I'm looking for helmet, goggles and gloves, since he is a toddler and wears 4T, looking for shirt and pants, could you suggest where I could go online and get him a set of shirt and pants, and helmet goggles and gloves set/
hi Yolanda, I got kids gear for my boy from Alpinestars, its little more expensive but really good stuff, I got him the protection as well. they have good measurement charts, so you can make sure the sizes are correct. here you go: www.alpinestars.com/products/mx/youth#
knee is sticking out from the bike most of the time.. easy to injure, way more common than broken neck or back.. plus there isnt much you can do about the neck and back.. neck braces are somewhat controversial.. check out current supercross race - how many neck braces do you see? yet each one of them has knee braces..
Hi im a beginner lady dirt bike rider, do you know if there is pants that has padding? Bcs i tend to sitting down too much so my inner thigh are sore. Or should i change my bike seat into softer material? I rly need expert’s opinion 😊
i was riding my dirtbike with a helmet on, and i was driving downhill and i hit a bump that i didn't see because there was a lot of grass and i flew into the air and i almost got crushed by my bike and hit my head on a big stone that was about 4 inches away from my face
I am just getting into the enduro riding. I am a size large. With the protective gear, what sizes should I be looking at to fit properly over the gear mentioned in the vid?
I'm pretty new to Dirtbikes and I do mostly trail riding, I have a helmet and goggles and I am saving for boots. I just fractured three bones in my foot after a crash. Do you know of any boots that offer good protection for under 200$? Thanks in advance and great vid!
Logan, sorry to hear about your injury, take it easy my friend. Check out Fox Comp5, thats what I have now, or alpinestar tech3 here is the review of my boots: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LUZeGndwQZQ.html take care
This is probably going to sound ridiculous, but I've been riding dirtbikes for 10 years and for some reason I cannot ride with the proper riding boots. It's so uncomfortable and I don't ride as good as I do when I ride with my vans on. I don't know if it's because the boots are cheaper and are rounded instead of pointed at the toe, but I cannot get comfortable with them on.
Same! lol. Been ridin in Vans Sk8 HI's and everyone thinks I'm crazy. Don't like the boots. Don't care for the "protection." I've gone down tons of times. Nothing I couldn't roll from. My feet have literally never been close to being injured.
I use a good athletic compression shirt under my full body armor, the jersey is too uncomfortable underneath and probably won't fit over the armor. The knee braces should be used over the pants.
I'm 5'6" and I'm looking to start riding a 250 bike which is full sized, but on my friends I couldnt touch the floor. Is there ways to get the bike to fit me when i get my own?
once you get the bike first of all set the sag to your weight, then if the bike is still too tall go ahead shave your seat first, then if needed get a lowering kit. dont lower your rear shock by raising the spring up, it would make a big changes to bikes handling, same goes for the forks, dont slide them up in the triple tree too high it would also do big changes to handling. Manufacturer set the correct angles and lengths of the suspension to give you most of stability and traction, while still keeping the bike nimble. You can perhaps move the forks slightly and see what it does to your handling, but dont lower it like 1-2 inches. Once you get the lowering link you would need to slide them up more, to compensate. It would also change the handling, but I think thats less noticeable . here is good video on the topic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OofbKh6BIe0.html good luck!
Hi again, My auntie is very protective and always concerned about my safy when im on a dirt bike as I ride like an idiot apparently and I don't think about the danger,, I do dirt biking i have the body gear but i refuse to wear a helmet but my auntie wont let me on the bike unless i wear the helmet please help i don't know what to do ?
I have been dirt biking before and everyone deared me to ride in shorts and t-shirt with no body gear or helmet so I did and I cracked my head open on a tree,, however I am starting dirt biking in my mates back garden as its more like a field, would u recommend me still wearing full body gear and helmet in a garden because I get really hot so would you still wear body gear even if you hot
Hi I'm new to dirt bike riding, and I have just brought a Pier of thor force knee gards, just wondering if you put them on over your pants or under underneath your pants? Thanks
@@dirtniron hi I just tried the knee pads underneath my pants, and jump on my bike, and when I bend my knees for the gears it's really tight underneath knees! Is this supost to happen? Thanks
I just got those same 100% googles for Christmas and with only 1 ride on them in the mud the managed to get scratched to shit. Mabey I'm being a bitch but I didn't expect them to get any deep visible/feeleable scratches. Do you have any issues with yours?
+MrYamaHashi mine are holding up OK, but we don't have a lot of mid in socal. I am pretty sure you can get replacement lens. Perhaps get tearoffs too if you ride a lot in the mud.
what does it all come to i really want to know i've asked mum for a dirt bike and she said ill have to miss out on my birthday then get it for Christmas but she said i will still need to get a job to save up myself.
Corey, my first dirt bike and gear together was around $1200 $1000 dirt bike $200 gear you can get used stuff from craigslist or ebay its ok for beginning, later replace it one by one by good quality new stuff
Dirt N Iron holy crap I was way off. Thank you! EDIT - As I meant to say, I like your accent! As well as your channel, you've got a new sub here Another edit - ok, as I said, I am not good with nationalities... Turns out Slovakia is pretty close to Germany. Im retarded, ik.
Patrik, 250 4 stroke has plenty of power but its manageable, I think it will be good bike for you. Take it easy, get use to the power dont twist that throttle too much in the beginning and you should be fine. Good luck
