I'll admit I have never been the best chess player by far. But this channel has taught me so much my game has improved drastically. You think a lot of people would know about these traps, but they still fall in to them left and right.. Thank you pal for your help.

I actually tried this attack on level 10 had the whole sequence but the black bishop came down to check my king had to block it with a pawn that killed the set up it ended in a stalemate wish I knew the knockout blow

G J, Of course your videos are very good and helpful to learn from. Now to be a teacher, then you must be able to impart knowledge and you do that so very well my friend. You seem a genuine man who really want others to improve and that's what it's all about. May you continue to keep the videos coming, and may your subscribers appreciate the work and time involved in preparing them.

not sure if its broken but my system is calling 3... exd the solid one out of the four choices given. I happen to agree with it. You may be right in calling black's position "passive" but definitely a tough nut to crack...

when you played Kxe5 (king captured knight) if 9. Qh5+ all variations from that king are mate in max 4 movements for example longest variation is Kd6 10. Bf4 Ke7 11. Kd5+ Ke6 and 12 Qf5# ... In your game you have played Qd5+ and then after 10 movements you made that mate :)

You explain everything very well, except that what what if black capture the pawn in the first example before? The only option is to recapture it with the knight, but that mess up all your plans. Many players do that when I try to do this to them. They just take the pawn there, and I have to recapture it with my knight. But that mess up my plans.

i've looked into this that moves you into the verosov attack style opening (worth looking at if your playing this line) but he does say at the beginning it isn't played often becasue it is flawed...

Liked and subscribed, good stuff, I learnt what not to do in the Philidor defense, Hanham variation. Looking down the 4...c6 line 7...Be2 is the blunder, the engine likes the attacking move b5. I'll always play the Philidor because I'm a recreational chess player and don't have time to memorize Ruy Lopez or Sicillian theory so my only weapon as black is to take my opponent out of preparation. Thank you for the great videos, especially like King on the dance floor!

What if Ke7 at 3:13 ? So many people ask that so let me answer it 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 Nd7 4.Bc4 Ngf6 5.dxe5 Nxe5 6.Nxe5 dxe5 7.Bxf7+ Ke7 8.Qxd8+ Kxd8 9.Nc3 ( after this move, white have more advantage since white can castle and white also protect his pawn again ) Yes there is no dirty trick in here, since Ngf6 move really make white can't do any dirty trick But on 5:10, there is no Ngf6 move, so you can do dirty trick 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 Nd7 4.Bc4 h6 5.dxe5 Nxe5 6.Nxe5 dxe5 7.Bxf7+ Ke7 8.Qh5 After this, black will confused what to move. If he didn't move Ngf6, you can move Bg5 and black will lose most important pieces

The problem here is that you ignore black's best move, 3...Nf6 and say that "it is easily met by 4. de5." How so? 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 Nf6 4. de5 Nxe4 5. Bc4 c6 ( 5. Qd5 c6 6. Qxe4 d5 ) and black is OK.
@hieronymousmerkin6822
@hieronymousmerkin6822 9 лет назад
***** Sorry! This is why I need a proof reader ;-) I got ahead of myself. 5. Bc4 Nc6 6. Qd5 Be6 7. Qxe4 d5 8. Qe2 dc4 9. 0-0. Back to 3...Nf6 4. de5?! Nxe4 5. Qd5 Nc5 6. Bg5 ( 6.Ng5?! Ne6) Be7 7. ed6 cd6 8. Bxe7 Nxe7 and black has compensation for the isolated pawn.
@florianl8273
@florianl8273 9 лет назад
+Hieronymous Merkin after 5. Bc4 Nc6 white could play 6. Bxf7+ Kxf7 7. Qd5+ Be6 8. Qxe4 to weaken the black king's position
@perkalov
@perkalov 8 лет назад
*"Back to 3...Nf6 4. de5?! Nxe4 5. Qd5 Nc5 6. Bg5 ( 6.Ng5?! Ne6) Be7 7. ed6 cd6 8. Bxe7 Nxe7"* After cxd6 8. Nc3 Be6 9 Bb5 Kf8 (or Bd7, take your pick) and white is clearly better of, and in no variant does black have compensation for the isolated pawn. No lead in development, no long term strategical advantages like bishops against knights. He simply worse of because of the pawn structure and development.

He puts himself in trouble by moving Knd7. Knc6 looks better, even down a pawn. If white still plays bc4, you can take the pawn with be6. If white doesn't take, no pawn lost, but even if he/she does, Knc6 protects, though double pawns.
