Dirty panels cost you money. Learn how to CLEAN SOLAR PANELS the easy way. I cover the steps needed to clean solar panels like a professional. A dirty solar panel can reduce the power output and cost you money. Rain will clean the solar panels a little but your solar panels should be professionally cleaned regularly to get the most power out of them. Inspect your panels to see if they are dirty and determine how often they need to be cleaned. I notice a significant power increase after cleaning mine. I will use my pressure washer, telescoping brush, telescoping squeegee and all purpose cleaner to tackle the job.

To everyone watching do not step on your solar panels that’s a great way to damage them. Soaps leave a residue which make dust accumulate faster.

Just as a FYI, check your warranty. Some manufacturers will void your warranty if you use a pressure washer. They are not designed for high pressure water protection. Especially the new stuff.

@@solarcocleaning8006 that's what I'm screaming I would be completely terrified even thinking about walking down the seams when my system was first installed installers dropped one of the panels less than three feet and shattered it and now you're talkin about a 200 plus lb man walking across something like it's nothing. As far as the pressure washing thing goes a small low pressure electric pressure washer I doubt is going to hurt anything when they say no pressure washing they're talkin about those pressure washers they can cut holes in concrete.

Good video but for all the people watching, you are not supposed to pressure wash the solar panels or apply any kind of soap. You could be potentially harming them and getting the warranty immediately void. Just use clean water and a soft brush. Also, stepping on them is the same thing, you could break them and the warranty will not cover the damage caused by you. Be careful.

Man, this is my first day on your channel and you are hitting everything I need. I'm getting pannels installed on august 18th and I've often thoughtt why is there not a company that cleans solar panels. Maybe I should start one.. Maybe cleaning them does not make much of a difference? We'll see what you say. Here in PHoenix, AZ we only get 7 inches of rain a year so we can't depend on rain alone to clean therm. Thanks for doing this.

Joe, it is recommended to clean your solar panels at least twice per year. This simple preventative maintenance measure will keep the panels at and sometimes above the intended production output levels. Of course, with our summer heat here in Arizona, cleaning the panels should be avoided in the middle of the day, because who wants to be out in 115+ degree temps and have sweat running down your back side!! Anyway, unless you want to or can afford to buy the proper equipment (runs in the thousands of dollars), let a company that deals with solar panel cleaning do the job.

Great effort to clean it. Isn't this critical for the solar panels to crack while you were putting weight on it? How much weight a solar panel sheet can resist? Please if possible do one video for a solar system you install in your house and the technicalities
@HawaiiDetailing
@HawaiiDetailing 3 года назад
They can handle hurricane winds with debris hitting them. Step with caution where the racking is and there are no problems. Been doing it for 10+ years. My personal safety is most important. Don’t walk around the edge of the roof and fall off trying to avoid hurting the panels. I only do this on the flat roof as there is no other way to access them. I have 2 other arrays on a pitched roof that I chance it and crawl around the edge. It’s sketchy at best. I Use a telescope pole brush and stay on the ground whenever I can. It’s safer. I plan on doing a video on solar soon. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. You do have to be careful on the panels. I only do this on my flat roof array. You only step on the parts of the panel where the roof racking is underneath. It is supported well and really strong. I watch people all over Hawaii waking all over them all the time. I thought the same thing. After researching and asking different installers I realized they can take hurricane winds with debris smashing into them and not bend or break. You do need to use common sense and only step where they are supported. I would say if you are unsure of any of this than stay off of them. I myself would rather step on them than fall off the roof. But that’s my personal choice. Thanks for watching

I don’t want to clean your panels. You should do it yourself. It’s easy. Mine have worked great for over 12 years. They still look brand new too. People say don’t step on them. If you do, step over the roof racking on the metal supports and there is not problem at all. This is how they clean the large 50 panel wide arrays on the top of commercial buildings? Panels are also damage rated to be hit by debris during a hurricane and be fine. Washing panels with a mild soap is also the same way to safely clean a 100k + car. It will not hurt a $200 panel? My pressure washer only puts out 1000 psi so there is not any risk of water damage during this process either. But as I always say and try hard to make crystal clear, if you don’t have the appropriate level of a skills or knowledge to know what you can safely do it’s always best to hire a pro and pay.

@HawaiiDetailing 2 года назад
Hire this guy for 2k instead. Hahahaha. Just kidding man. Those panels are rated to take debris hits in a hurricane. The pressure washer is 1000 psi. You have to use common sense when taking on DIY projects. This was not an instruction video for people to blindly go after a project. It targets people with DIY skills that want to do projects without hearing about how hard it is. With that being said If you don’t know that you shouldn’t stand on the glass directly and that you should stand on a structurally supported part of the panel then hire a pro for sure. On my channel I always recommend to hire a pro as a standard especially when in doubt. As for cleaners I work on $100k + vehicles paint. This glass is not a problem. Oh I also have been doing this cleaning biannually on my personal system for about 15 years with no problems. Thanks for encouraging me to clarify some of these things for those of you out there that think this way. I mean all of this in the most positive way. Thanks for watching

DO NOT pressure wash solar panels, do not use soaps, do not walk on your panels! Nearly everything he is doing is damaging his panels. Clean them with softened or deionized water.
@HawaiiDetailing
@HawaiiDetailing Год назад
Do what makes you happy. My pressure washer is only 1000 psi. You can spray it 6” away from a $250k Ferrari paint and trim with absolutely no damage guaranteed. A hurricane rated solar panel that cost $250 will be just fine. My panels are in absolutely perfect shape and making great power. Over a decade + of cleaning them whenever they are dirty and they are still kicking butt. No water spots, no damage at all. I installed these panels back before it was even cool to have them. They get dirty I clean them. 1 or 2 times a year is plenty. Wait until you have deionized water and a bunch of specialty tools and you will never get it done. Use some general situational awareness and do it today. Walk directly over the metal racking on the metal edge of the panel. If you don’t have the general skills or life experience to execute a task like this without destroying things stay off the roof and hire a pro. Hope that helps buddy.
