There is also another way to do it. Under the driver side dish there are a set of plugs running top to bottom the one on the bottom the black plug all you have to do is unplug that and it’s done but make sure you plug it back in again if you’re going to pull a trailer.
Yeah. I don't like that method because people who tow frequently aren't likely to do it because it's inconvenient to have to replug it in all the time. People who don't tow frequently are more likely to do it, but that means in 9 months or whatever when they tow a trailer, they might forget to reconnect it and they won't have brake lights while driving.
Under the dash on the left a set of three plugs bottom black set just unplug it. It is for trailer lights so if your towing you will need to plug it back in. No tearing apart your dash .
The downside is, if you forget to plug it in you won't have any trailer lights and you might not realize that. I will take taking apart my dash over unsafe vehicle operation. at least as far as what I'm willing to recommend. You can do whatever you'd like
I went with the Forscan method on my 2018 F150 to disable start/stop. There are several RU-vid videos on how to download and use the program. Once set up in your computer, you can easily change many settings in the modules in your truck.
@@ceecee9155 If you turn off the start/stop function using Forscan, the vehicle will not turn off when you come to a stop. It essentially disables the button on the dashboard. If you want to turn it back on, you would need to use Forscan to enable the button on the dashboard again.
I don’t do much stop and go. But I still wished to disconnect stop/start. My truck constantly turning the radio off to save battery however, has been driving me nuts. Two birds, one stone. Thank you.
If your truck is turning off the radio it's because your BMS (Battery Monitoring System) is worried that your battery is almost dead. I would check your battery health and reprogram your BMS
DONT DO ANY OF THIS!!! If you want to disable auto start/stop on your F150 (works on 2021-2023 models for sure, don't know about older models or the upcoming 2024 refresh, but I'm pretty sure its the same or similar.) Go into your infotainment system. Bring up Features. Bring up towing. Choose select default trailer. That's it. That's all you have to do. Don't buy any devices. Don't jumper the button. Don't disconnect the BMS from the negative lead on the battery. The truck will think a trailer is connected, but it won't cut off your backup camera, or give you any warning messages or anything like that. Plus you don't run any risk of voiding your warranty, or shorting your circuitry with some cheap Chinese "auto start eliminator," or by plugging in some trailer circuit test kit that isn't designed to be left in as you drive the truck every day leaving it exposed to the elements.
I found the blackl and purple wire but i dont have a solid white wire but there is a brown with white stripe next to the black and purple is the right one? For now im doing the tooth lick method lol
On my new Ford Puma from Europe, it doesn't do that...I tryed removing the cable from the battery, keep it on Sport mode..it's not working...only with the OBD ELS27 in ForScan, I could cancel the BMS. Ford in Europe got smarter. 😁😂
@@Brian_195 My Roush supercharged F150 didn’t even have a start stop on it I guess because of the performance they figured you were worried about saving gas lol
the auto start needs to be where i can get in and its auto off and if i want to use it then push a button to activate it but in general the auto start and stop is a dangerous function if you stop at stop sing then have to go and you are slowed by 5 seconds well that may end bad
Will installing the device behinds the dash void the warranty? I have a 2021 I would like to disable. What brand or model do you prefer or is the best?
My 2011 f 150 doesn't have a button on the dashboard. There's no connector under the driver side dashboard. I'm wondering if I even have a Auto Start Stop or a BCM. I believe this to be a Bare bones fleet truck. Any ideas? The truck will shut down at stop signs etc.
@@garywilkerson6228 try not stepping all the way in on the brake pedal. Press just enough for the vehicle to stop. Works just fine on my 2019 expedition
I recently purchased a 2018 f150 and have driven it a few hundred miles now. It never shuts off with the button pushed or without it pushed. I’m thinking it has been disabled The display always comes up on the trailer as if it’s connected to a trailer. I checked the trailer wiring port in the rear bumper but there’s nothing in it.
Check the wiring to the left of your steering column. There's a small vertical wiring block with 3 connectors. See if the bottom one is disconnected. If it is someone did you a favor.
Can anyone prove what is going on circuit wise with the jumper wire in place. I suspect the button initiates a pulse signal but then returns to a high impedence state. The jumper wire on all the time never achieves that state. .. is it a problem or not?..prove it please
There is a white box on the door side underneath the dash with three plugs. Smallest plug is the auto start stop. When you unplug it, icon comes on and off but start stop won’t work. Just need to plug it back on if need.
That's not a plug for auto start stop. It's for trailer brake lights. A side effect of disabling it is it causes ASS to stop working. But I don't like to disable other systems to accomplish the goal
