I've been so unwell, in and out of hospital and I feel like I've missed so much. This is the first video I've managed to watch pain-free in weeks and I am happy it was a slice-of-life vlog. I have many of the books you read and am looking forward to reading them, especially The List of Suspicious Things. Thanks so much for cheering me up and I have my fingers and toes crossed you get the property you love.

I love how you can say "The liveshow for this is Saturday so I will leave the book until Friday". If I had a liveshow on May 1st, I'd have to start the book on April 1st to make sure I got it done in time lol. (I would have to give myself a minimum of a week to read it).

Vlog ideas: get your week's book(s) at a Little Free Library or thift shop. Number your shelves and draw a number and read one of the books you haven't read that is on that shelf. Put slips with the names of colors and draw a color. Find a book on your shelves with a cover that matches. Get your patrons to choose the week's books. This will give you a session for them as well as a vlog. Or get a BookTuber friend to pick books for you while you do that for them. Choose one to three favorite books to read.

For the house you’re looking into with the yard with a high fence, you should definitely look into fence toppers designed specifically to keep cats in yards. Cats can jump incredibly high and climb vertically very well, a plain fence is not gonna be safe enough. Other safe options are harness training your cats and walking them around the yard or getting some kind of catio. Catios can range from a mesh play pen to a large enclosed window box to a full on enclosed structure that can be big enough that you can enter and have furniture inside.

Agree!! Harness and a tether have been used by friends too, so it’s sort of like them being on a leash but longer and you don’t have to hold it, he can sit out there and read or something while they chill 🥰

Exactly! I'm a huge supporter of indoor cats, but catios are a cool way of letting them have some contact with nature without the danger. I have a balcony secured with a cat proof net and my cats love it.

50:34 hey Gavin, I had the same trouble. Hot beverages have some of the highest mark up and there for make shops quite a bit. Instead of going to coffee shops I’ve tried to find free third places like museums, libraries, parks and community centres and before I leave the house, even for a grocery errand I make myself a hot beverage and put it in a thermos (even if I don’t want it then) I found once I formed the habit I didn’t want to buy hot beverages out as they were not as good as what I already had with me. (Teas in shops I find weak now- mind you I’m not in tea heaven over in England) Another way to reinforce this habit is when you come home without a beverage purchase put a couple dollars in savings as a reward. I'm curious: can you not get audiobooks from your library? It's the primary way I get them (US based), but I've noticed none the UK booktubers I follow ever do, and ditto ebooks. Genuinely curious as to the differences between US and UK libraries. Also I adore these slice of life vlogs. they're so cozy, and it's lovely to see you enjoy reading under less pressure

Libby isn't used so much by UK libraries. My Library uses BorrowBox but it's such a small town with a bad budget so we get nothing but (bad/old) crime thrillers, old lady romances or kids books 😅 so I don't use it because it doesn't have anything I'm reading on it. Can't speak for Gavs library but yeah, it's not as popular an option in the UK.

I’m a member of the same library as Gav and the audiobook selection is not the best. It’s not very current and it’s also very British (ie very few American or international releases). it’s overflowing with crime novels, and very little else 😶 so not hugely in tune with mine nor Gav’s tastes

My cats were a bit overweight, and they could leap almost vertically to the top of a 2 meter high bookcase. A fence is nothing to a cat.

I don’t think it’s advertised that way so it might not have shown up in your research, but it’s sort of queer Bridgerton with blackmail and characters on the run. It is so sweet you’re trying to move to find a good backyard for the kitties ❤ I have a fenced yard (I’m in the US where we have different views of letting cats outside because it’s so dangerous here - people will poison and shoot cats just out of meanness) and my cats are so happy every day getting to go in their enclosure and climb trees and dig holes and chase each other. They don’t even try to climb the fence (except for my evil little man Grimm, he sometimes goes into the front yard so he can’t go out unless I’m also out). It is absolutely so good for their health if there is a safe spot where they can’t get hurt or harm wildlife. My soul cat made it to 18 even though he had a really rough start (I got him around 10 and he was very neglected) but he would go in the garden and roll in the dirt and it was like he was a kitten all over again.

I love this vlog already! ❤️ I listen to audios while physically reading and I have also noticed differences in the text vs audio. One in particular is Taming 7 by Chloe Walsh. The audio and physical book released on the same day and are different in some chapters. I guess if you didn't read/listen to them at the same time, you would never know.

I dnf'd Acension within 80 pages. I didn't feel any tension and I figured out the "reveal" right away, and after checking spoilers, I found I was right. The first chapter was the best part.

While you're probably not going to take suggestions for Robin Hood type tales.. Could I interest you in a heist that's description references Robin Hood in showing you how he's NOT like Robin Hood. The Lies of Locke Lamora "They say he steals from the rich and gives to the poor. They say he's part man, part myth, and mostly street-corner rumor. And they are wrong on every count. Only averagely tall, slender, and god-awful with a sword, Locke Lamora is the fabled Thorn, and the greatest weapons at his disposal are his wit and cunning. He steals from the rich - they're the only ones worth stealing from - but the poor can go steal for themselves" -from the book description. It's so good. I loved it.

I’ve been skint for a bit now. I have to have knee replacement surgery on my left knee because I walk with a very noticeable limp. My right is I thought good, but a little harder to bend without pain. Its life. I need to work because I have to have surgery and that insurance. There’s lots of different ways everyone struggles….if you don’t your damn lucky.

I was super surprised when my copy of where sleeping girls lie showed up as well because it was so huge! But it is one I am still looking forward to, but it does seem like it is going to be a bit slower than you may want from a YA thriller because of it. Oh no, not liking murder road at all D: I have that one through evernight as well.

Robin Hood Prince of thieves is one of my favorite films from back in the day and Alan Rickman as the sheriff of Nottingham just ate up the scenery Although the Mel Brooks movie Robin Hood men in tights, comes in a close second as far as Robin Hood movies and they are absolutely right to have Cary Elwes say unlike some Robin Hood I actually speak with a British accent. Shots were fired, but they were absolutely right for it because Kevin Costner just couldn’t get the English accent, right

I'm glad I dnfed ascension then. I loved the prologue so much, it was so intriguing, but then I got to the main book and I only got like 10 pages in before I stopped. It was the ick factor of him writing inappropriate things to his, what, 14 year old neice? And the random religious stuff. I just couldnt.

To help you read what you want while also getting video content out of it why don't you try something like "Living A Mood Reader's Best Life" or "A week reading like a Mood Reader" that way you have more freedom with your reading without the pressure. Just a thought.

I just read Ascension and rated it a 2. I was really enjoying it until about the halfway point and then it was just getting ridiculous. Could have been so much better, I was as disappointed as you were 😮‍💨

You should read zodiac academy. I would never recommend them to anybody because they’re the most ridiculous books I’ve ever read and i hate almost every character. I’m 5 books into the series and as much as i want to stop reading them i can’t 😭

Omg, I disliked Ascension soooo much. It was incredibly dumb for a scifi, not to mention that the author clearly couldn't even be bothered to read a wiki article on Sisiphus. Main character also made no sense.

I absolutely hate the illumicrate book for Murder Road, it is like you have been drinking Absinthe and are hallucinating looking at the book. Blasted thing. I am mega annoyed and currently refusing to read a copy I hate and then could end up not liking as well. Definitely skip the June box for illumicrate as it is shite from the spoiler xx

I may be alone here, but I liked the Old Man and the Sea. I also greatly dislike Jane Eyre-I think she’s an idiot-so I can’t be trusted with my opinions. I want to meet someone else who can’t stand Jane!
