DISASSEMBLY - WE M4A1 LOWER | AIRSOFT
Today I will disassemble the lower on my Wei-Tech M4A1. So I can let loose my destructive behaviour, in a controlled environment.

The only parts I won't disassemble down to the bare bones are the stock and the trigger guard, since it is better to just buy the entire assembly if you want or need new ones.
And the trigger group will be covered in a separate video since it is an intricate and complex part, in and of itself.
STEP 1:
I begin by divorcing the lower from the upper.
Two pushed pins later, and I’m done.
I remove the stock by pulling down the adjustment tab and dragging the entire stock off the tube.
STEP 2:
Next I push the buffer retaining pin down, and pull out the buffer and recoil spring.
Using the included disassembly tool, I loosen the buffer tube nut, while holding down the end plate. Then I unscrew the buffer tube, remove it, and carefully remove the end plate, since there’s a small spring, and detent behind it.
STEP 3:
When these parts are removed, the rear takedown pin on the receiver becomes loose, and can be taken out.
I now remove the buffer retaining pin with a screwdriver, and remove the small components.
STEP 4:
To remove the pistol grip I use a Philips head screwdriver. I’m careful with the spring, since it is necessary for a functional fire selector.
Next I punch out the pin holding the bolt catch in place. I punch it out from front, to back, since it is knurled on one end.
This frees the bolt catch spring, and bolt catch.
Almost forgot the fire selector detent.
STEP 5:
In order to remove the mag catch, I hold in the mag catch button, on the right side, grab the mag catch, on the left side, with some pliers and turn it counter clockwise until it's free.
The bolt catch button and spring will come out on the right side.
STEP 6:
Making sure the hammer is cocked, I push the hammer and auto sear together, then pull out the fire selector. Some help with a small screwdriver might be necessary.
STEP 7:
The trigger group is held in place with a screw on the back, and a pin through the receiver.
I remove the screw.
Then place the receiver on a roll of tape, and punch out the pin from right to left.
Note that the two other pins are fake, and only cosmetic.
STEP 8:
Now I Place the lower in a plastic box, then I pull the trigger group out of the receiver.
This is because of part number 67. A small, wiley spring, that will run away from you if you're not careful.
STEP 9:
To remove the front takedown pin, I place a small screwdriver in the slot of the pin, push in the detent, and turn the pin 90 degrees, then pull it out.
The detent, and a small spring, will shoot out on their own accord or in my case they needed help by tilting the lower.
STEP 10:
Lastly I remove the trigger guard by the punching out the rear pin, from right, to left, and pushing in the detent with a small screwdriver,
and I’m done!
Note that I’m performing these modifications at my own risk. These alterations can go very wrong if you lack the skills, tools and knowledge required, and can damage your equipment and parts as well as cause injury on your person if you attempt them yourself.

DON´T HOLD ON TO THE END PLATE WHEN REMOVING THE BUFFER TUBE! The end plate needs to spin WITH the buffer tube, it has a small "tab" sticking out and that tab fits in a non-threaded groove. Notice how shiny the thread of the buffer tube got after he unscrewed it, that´s the tab of the end plate scratching against the buffer tube thread!
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 5 лет назад
First of all, I'm more worried about saving the spring for the detent securing the rear pin. Secondly, I'm not too worried about damaging the threads on a 20 dollar buffer tube. It will take quite a while to ruin the buffer tube threads, but the detent spring can be ruined instantaneously.

Thank you for the lovely complements! Yes, the WE HK416 lowers are laid out like the M4A1 lowers. The grip differs, but I take it you already knew that.
@ViquelOoste
@ViquelOoste 3 года назад
@@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic Yes i noticed but they differ only aestheticaly, it goes the same for the spring/detent system, my main problem is with the protuding end of the valve knocker, it fell apart from the rifle and i already put it in back few times but it keeps falling back, i don't know what to do, i'll probably try to link it to the knocker with a soldering iron... What's your thoughts about that ?
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 3 года назад
Hmmm... soldering the protruding end, which is repeatedly hit by the hammer, sounds like a bad idea. I would remonnend replacing it, or the entire valve knocker assembly. Thar particular part recieves a lot of force.
@ViquelOoste
@ViquelOoste 2 года назад
@@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic i forgot to answer you but i found a really simple solution, i just put cyanoglue on the spring to stick it with the protuding end so it kept it's plasticity to receive force from the hammer, it never fell again ever since

Sir i have a question, do aeg and gbbr's share the same mag release, triggers, bolt catch and selector switch? I'm sorry if this bothers you dude, i wanna build a gbbr but i'm not sure if the parts that are in my store are compatible with the gas blowback stuff.

Hey.. thanks for the video. Very Helpful. but is m4a1 WE the same as KJW? I searched the video for KJW didn't find. iam from Indonesia.
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 2 года назад
Sadly I can not answer that question in a satisfactory manner since a KJW is lacking in my armory.

The mag catch similar to AEG version right? Because, I wanna re-use my AEG ambidextrous mag release to this beast.
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 3 года назад
I can't confirm this since I've never used an AEG mag catch on my GBBR's. If you want to be safe you should use a GBBR specific ambi mag catch. But you could try installing the AEG version and see if it works. If not, then you know what to do.

Buffer tube nut? Isn't that just the castle nut or is that different?
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 5 лет назад
It has a lot of different names. Castle nut, buffer tube lock nut, buffer tube lock ring... I believe it is pretty clear what I am referring to in the video.

Any idea if the spacer at the back of the buffer tube is removable?
@darthdonkus3850
@darthdonkus3850 3 года назад
yes but doing so will cause the bolt to catch on the back of the trigger, rendering the replica unable to fire. He covered this in one of his videos.
@Micsmit_45
@Micsmit_45 3 года назад
@@darthdonkus3850 oh I'm well aware of this ^^ I plan on replacing my buffer and buffers print with a custom JP Silent captured spring style assembly, which requires I remove the buffer detent anyways.
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 3 года назад
As the previous speaker said, removing it can and will lead to jams. The buffer slides out with ease on the M16's and 416's, but I've actually never tried, or needed, to remove it from the M4's. Wish I could help, but my M4's are in storage currently. As soon as I move and get filming up and running again I'll put this on my to-do-list.
@Micsmit_45

@@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic cheers. On my M4 It's like it's glued in. I've tried my best now but can't seem to remove it. Once I go ahead with my plans to make a custom captured spring assembly, I might just keep it in and deal with it, but I'd prefer removing it.

Quick question, does this disassembly apply to all Ar type weapons? Or just this certain brand?
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 3 года назад
This applies only to the Wei-Tech gas blow back rifles when it comes down to this detailed level. Other brands like Western Arms, G&P, Viper Tech and others are similar, but differ in key areas like trigger group design and implementation. So if you own a GBBR from another system or platform I highly recommend you find a video covering that particular replica.

Is the WE lower receiver same as real AR15 lower receiver? Can I install the real fire control set on the WE?
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 4 года назад
As you might have seen in my modification video, it does require a fair amount of effort to install a WE trigger group in a real lower. Installing real components in a WE lower would be no problem with regards to space, since there is more space available in the WE lower. However, keeping the components aligned, making them do anything productive, like hitting the valve on the magazine, and working at acceptable reliability rates would be rather hard to accomplish.

my pistol grip replacement has no holes for spring. What i need to do on it?
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 2 года назад
Sounds like you've got a pistol grip for AEG's, PTW's or similar. My best advice would be to buy a new grip in real-steal spec.
@valcyrilestrada
@valcyrilestrada 2 года назад
@@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic it cant be for AEG because it has a single hole for screw in the middle. Do you think a dremel do wonders with it? I mean, is it necessary that the spring is embedded on the grip?
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 2 года назад
If you want a functional fire selector then the hole for the spring is quite necessary indeed. Going crazy with a dremel sounds like a very dangerous idea to me. I suggest you find a suitable new grip instead.

@@Micsmit_45 It turned out, the takedown pins were superglued. Might be some weird regulation with the Canadian retailers i got it from. Kinda already gave up on trying to get it out after i bent my punch on it XD.
