58:00 it was mentioned in a previous episode by a commenter that musashi is unique. she can travels to different universes. but cant ever return to her own.
To add to Tanner, the ORIGINAL was designed as a game for girls with lots of handsome boys. When they decided to make the actual first game they swapped to have a male main character and y'know straight sex sells. This is ACTUALLY why the Genderbend trend started, because obvious now that the main character is no longer a woman, they can't uh bang the previous guys with the different target audience so, yeah. If it helps, the author actually had huge mental issues because despite changing the physical gender they kept mentally seeing them as the males, which made them feel very awkward and having no idea how to write the romance involving them.
Musashi was already traveling through other worlds BEFORE becoming a servant, so everything she witnessed while alive would be etched into her memories for every summon. And even then, servants remembering other summons happens, its just...extremely conditional. Musashi remembers things because of her world traveling powers, Boss also remembers everything because he is extremely OP (yes, that is the canonical reason why). Other heroic spirits though? They dont remember it, but they do have "a feeling about it" Take Saber for example: They started as a battle obsessed beast, but are clearly finding a lot of joy in all the things that didnt exist in their war like period (there is an interesting parallel there too if you think about it). Will Saber forget everything that happened if summoned again in the future? Maybe not, maybe the events of this game will be so impactful to them that it breaks the rules and they remember it all (it has happened before with other characters). But even if they forget it, that doesnt mean they will always act like they did at the start of the game, what they (and other heroic spirits) experience in this game, aka their character development, could very well be so meaningful to them that it carries into future summons, even if they dont remember WHY their perspective on things changed.
Can't believe Tanner, Nico's Senpai in fate, graced us with his presence only to say "Hey, Nico. Masters and servants.... They can fuck", refused to elaborate and disappeared
About Yui's gender: remember, Musashi has travelled to multiple universes. Yui Shosetsu is a dude in real history, so maybe Musashi has met the male version of him in other worlds she's been to and that's why she knows this Yui looks different enough that it's probably a girl.
Tanner at this point is basically one of RU-vid’s dedicated “Fate Guy”, so basically anything he says, there has to be *some* truth in it. But yes, Fate is originally an Eroge, and mana transfer is a thing to the point that it’s basically memed at this point.
Tanner is telling the truth Fate is literally a billion-dollar franchise that originates from a novel full of *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge* in which beautiful blond girls recharge their magic with their mouths on Master's magic rod
Nico I'm gonna be real serious here If you enjoy this game enough and you'd like to learn where else to go in the Fate franchise from here, let's talk. I only got into Fate in the last 3-4 years on a whim just like you did, and I've spent it experiencing almost the entire franchise in that time. Having seen almost all of it if you want a road map or something, hit me up. I'd love to share that info with you and even answer some questions if you got em.
So a bit of interesting trivia about Iori's sword stances: there's actually a deeper meaning to why they are named after the elements. You see, Miyamoto Musashi was not simply a great swordsman but he was also a writer and his seminal work was called "The Book of Five Rings". The book is a guide to his famous sword style Niten Ichiryu. However, the book contains much more than a simple guide to swordplay and is actually also a general reflection on martial arts, leadership, training and zen philosophy. In fact, to this day, many business leaders find the book useful as a guide to business conflicts. The book is divided into five chapters, each named after one of the five elements of Buddhism: earth, water, fire, wind and void. This was because the book was supposed to describe the "elements" of battle. Notably each of the first four chapters are mostly concerned with warfare and swordplay, with Musashi often commenting on both the strategies and weaknesses of his own style and others. However the final chapter "void" is easily the most esoteric containing Musashi's thoughts on the nature of human existence and knowledge, dealing with as Musashi describes "that which cannot be seen".
Yes Nico, everything Tanner said was true. SEAman can actually give servants power(its actually the most purest form of mana). The first Fate game was in fact a visual novel with sex scenes in it.(which could be turned on and off in later versions of the game.) Tannorofthenorth(once known as goodbye18000) is a VERY trustworthy source since he's been going through almost everything Fate related for a few years now. He was once like you Nico right now, starting the Fate series(through said original VN in 2018) and growing to love it, and he hasn't escaped since.(he also has the most compiled LP of the FGO gacha game, that has been ongoing for years and currently over 500+ parts long.) If there's ANYONE to believe, its him. The man who's documented his whole journey into this series!
I think you're misunderstanding what Musashi was saying when she was talking about Shosetsu's gender being different here. Musashi isn't female because she's a servant now, she's female because she's from another universe.
I think he was assuming that for mushashi to know that about shousetsu they must have met as servants or something........ though I could have read that wrong
Nico: I don’t like Musuo games since you’re just killing a bunch of mobs as overpowered characters. Also Nico: Yes! I’m controlling the Servants! They’re killing everyone instantly! THIS FEELS AMAZING!
I'm pretty sure his main problem, mine too, is that without substance, it gets boring very quickly. As someone who loves Strikers and Three Hopes, at some point you're just begging bosses to have less health.
I mean, with most Musou games there's no thought. Every character has one combo that's just outright better than all their others. If you spam it, you win. That's it, GG, game over. 😂
Bwahahahaha! Nico's reaction to the origins of the Fate series is hilarious. He can't believe that Fate started out as an eroge VN novel. Yes, Nico. That's why Aria is giving you that look... SHE WANTS MAN JAM!!!
If you recall, you first mistook Yui for a boy because Musashi said so. However, Musashi hadn't met this Yui yet. (Remember, Musashi hops between parallel worlds). Musashi knows better now, so that's why she said "[Yui's] a girl here." The "here" in this case being this current world she is in. Bonus non-spoiler fact from FGO: some of Fate's Rule 63 characters are actually their real world gender in Musashi's original world, so she gets confused about this shit about us much as we do 😅
If there’s a servant whose identity you could guess quite easily at this point it’s the rogue berserker. Just think of his main characteristics and you’ll get to the answer quickly.
Iori walks down the street only to see... "ODA NOBUNAGA!?!? And Shimazu Toyohisa? Nasu Yoichi? What are you doing here?" "oh, well I guess you can think of us as a bunch of drifters" meanwhile, Joan of Arc is watching from afar, "hey... I think I recognize those assholes..."
Tanner is 100% correct. Mana Transfer is indeed accomplished via a horizontal monster-mash. There's a reason Tamamo looks at Iori that way. And no, she doesn't want your flesh or your blood. She wants a few specific inches of flesh and a different fluid entirely.
It desperately needs to be said, they had rereleased the game "Fate/Stay Night" for Playstation shortly after its original release as "Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua", and it doesn't have the eroge elements in it any longer. All those scenes have been replaced and you have to patch them back in to even play the original eroge version.
I’m glad to see Nico try and make an educated guess about Saber’s Identity. It’s interesting to see someone use the clues given to try and reach a conclusion, I’d love to see you try and do so for the others, though I’d hate it if you accidentally spoil yourself, cause some servants show up on Google even if you don’t specify Fate.
Tanner was not lying nico, the creator of fate started off as an eroge creator and after time passed he decided to make the ACTUAL fate series and people loved it so it stuck (theres more to it but thats basically the long and short of it)
And the best part If or if not is true But it didn't used to have s*x scenes originally but got added to attract teenage boys at the time (like early 2000) and because of that they weren't well written So upond re-release once Fate became more popular they just removed it
Emphasizing "ACTUAL" isn't really being fair because, sex scenes that make up like less than 1% of the game aside, the original two VNs are generally still viewed as top tier Fate content (and often they're people's top 2).
@@lionofavalon Thank you for having a brain I love Nico but I just hope tanner's comment and what other people have been saying makes him not play the original vn now. All of the best parts in samural remnant are even better in the visual novel.
Nico has finally come to learn the origin of this franchise. Now he knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that Aria's very suggestive gazes were just as explicit as he feared.
Tanner being comment of the day is hilarious. It wasn't that long ago that he was also a fate newbie who just happened to play a bit of the dynasty warriors spinoff fate game(fate extra) and got curious about fate enough to read the vn. I think this was in like 2017? It is now 2023 and this guy is a full in nasuverse maniac 😂 I am so proud
A fun fact about Ogres/Oni in Fate! Most Servants with Oni blood receive the 'Oni-kind Demon' personal skill, whether full-blooded or only by descent. And this skill is cracked because this skill is comprised of at least _four other skills_ which naturally makes an Ogre Servant pretty dangerous. These include Charisma (lets a Servant be more persuasive or inspirational), Monstrous Strength (grants a Servant a full rank-up in their Strength stat for a limited time), and Mana Burst (lets them erupt with magical energy to buff their attacks, speed, etc etc). The rule of thumb is just that if a Servant has monster blood in them, they're usually going to be incredibly strong.
Servants normally do not remember their past summons Musashi is special due to her unique situation and ability. Sometimes depending on the game like grand order servants will remember something’s from just having a feeling or remembering certain experiences and events. Theirs are those who have special roles/positions who can also remember past experiences when summoned to another place or era.
In this episode of Fate Samurai Remnant, Nico finally learns from Tanner what Mana Transfer means, a knowledge everyone in the fandom unanimously learn first and foremost about.
"Use up your life as kindling for the flames, and all that awaits you is the eternal darkness" Iori in-battle after eating 4 rice balls to max HP: "You said something?"
Poor Nico going have to read all these comments about how Tanner is right. I don't think he'll believe us and go with this is a group prank like with Rain Code till he looks to his mods and asks "Right?" And then his mods will have to look at him and say "It's true Nico...... All of it." Then Nico does a Darth Vader impression as he screams "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Nice research Nico! Whether the guess is right or wrong, one of the best things about Fate is you REALLY get to learn about a lot of different cultures, and the series manages to pique people's interest into genuinely reading about and discovering other cultures, regardless of how exaggerated their portrayal can get in an anime/videogame.
In this episode, Iori went inside his inner mind world and fought his dark and hollow self. By doing so, he unlocked his dual katanas and a new power. Nico sure is eating well as a Bleach fan.
As someone who both is a major Fate fan and has familiarized with lore as well as has followed Tanner’s Channel for a while now(mostly for FGO which I play) I can credibly confirm 100% that Tanner was right about everything thing he said in that comment. The entire Fate franchise originated and came from an eroge game. And Mana Transfer as he described is one of the most well known, consistent and established facts about the series that anyone remotely familiar with Fate knows.
Hope the whole sexual content stuff doesn't make Nico have the wrong idea about the original Fate, while the scenes are there they are just a little part of the game and even has the option to play with alternative scenes so the story is very much worth to go through for anyone getting into the series.
Yes I'm quite disappointed that nobody is mentioning that the h scenes were only included to sell and when Nasu realized that he doesn't need them he simply removed them as seen in Realta Nua and his later works.
@@shuichisaihara53it's funny for a lot of casuals to meme about but really yeah it's pretty much not even a factor anymore in the original contents let alone anything else. At most you'll get a tasteful softcore scene rarely to give some emotional impact to a romance. The tsukihime manga for example
@@MrInuhanyou123 Exactly Sasaki's manga adaptation of tsukihime is brilliant and amazing. I just really really hope that the memes will not scare Nico away from witnessing the beauty of the fate stay night visual novel. More people need to witness Shirou's development and his beautiful romance with Saber.
The scenes were not included to sell. Nasu has been interviewed about them several times and he always says he was conciously writing Stay Night as an adult novel. Realta Nua doesnt have them because you cant have explicit display of genitalia on a sex scene in the ps2 @@shuichisaihara53
Musashi really didn't care her adopted daughter was kidnapped at all and needed a whole plea from Iori to be convinced to help her. Clearly best Mother-Father Servant ever.
@@veneroluigi8157 well she initially acted sad when she heard the news about Kaya and i don't think iroi told her about Kaya before so it seems pretty clear she knows her
@@kennyburkamp4054Might just be that Musashi is empathizing with Iori She don't know Kaya but she can imagine having your sister kidnapped isn't good at all
From how I see it Musashi really wanted to help But she is also Iori teacher and a opponent in a Holy Grail War, she can't just help him everytime for free He need to gain her help Indeed later on when fighting along Zheng she will say something like "My disciple asked for my help, how could I not give my all for this?" Indicating how she was more than willing to give a hand in this situation even if Iori didn't find a valid strategic reason to convince her
Well... I'm pretty sure on previous comment mentioned that Musashi is an enigma which.. she's a special case. And yes.. she do recount what her previous class is and possibly retain a previous memories of her journey until the day she arrived to the no return point. (And for those who wonder about... yes her story continue in a mobile phone and yes.. you know it goes from there on.).
29:53 Well, neither is Iori, but Mushashi has met other versions of him in their travels across different worlds. So, it’s possible she’s met other versions of mortals who were also of different genders depending on the world
So, fire stance. Its very good! It also will probably be the biggest cause of game overs from hereon though as you try to keep Iori at low health and then die after getting hit once lmao, definitely worth it tho. The best way to use fire stance is to constantly take advantage of other stances afterglow, like earth stances flinch/damage resistance, or even more attack speed from water stance.
Regarding Kaya having been around before the Waxing Moon Ritual: In Fate there's the concept of "Pseudo-Servants" which was introduced in Fate/Grand Order. A Pseudo-Servant is essentially when a Heroic Spirit for whatever reason isn't strong enough to manifest on their own or cannot be summoned normally, so they manifest through a human vessel.
Haha so yeah, quick history lesson on Fate. It was originally an eroge and had scenes like that was suggested. However you shouldn't worry about it to much, In the rerelease of the first game, any of these type of scenes were retconned and redone, giving other explanations. And honestly the old sex scenes were hilariously cringy and had very little influence on the plot. But that doesn't mean the fanbase won't use the old scenes as memes and jokes since in a sense they are still technically true, but it just done out of humor so don't sweat it
@@aftertone3146 Well yeah I agree. I just excluded HF since i didn't want to spoiler Nico on the layout of routes in that game, if he ever felt up to play it
"were it an ordinary oni, there would be no concern. There are some who live peaceably" ? What are you rogue saber, an oni sympathizer? do you like to kiss oni? do you, like, go home and kiss your oni wife? Go home Rogue saber your wife miss you!
Hey Nico! Yes, some servants are able to remember past events of their lives as Heroic Spirits, not just their previous lives as Heroes. The reason for that might be considered a Spoiler, so I won't go into detail here, but it is true that for servants this is an extremely rare occurrence that only really happens under VERY specific circumstances.
The reason why musashi says yui is a girl here aka this universe is because she is, however she is known as a man by everyone, it could be assumed that either in Musashis orignal world or in one of the worlds she travelled to she probably came to know a male yui.
Because i don't want just to say anything about tanner because yes he is right. The servants in this game are just so cool and im just having fun watching them.
Well, for tamamo, no, I think she's just affectionate to iori, not because she needs boosted mana, it's not like she spams her noble phantasm or anything, but yeah if you spam NP you gotta recharge the servant using liquid, which is why as a master, you kinda have to swing both ways. Dang, now I imagine Zhang recharge Archer because you spam his NP in your Playthrough
While Tanner is right, thats not the full picture. It was the early 2000s, and Type Moon portfolio consisted of a series of moderately successful Light Novels and a very successful VN that was considered to be a "lightning in a bottle" kinda of success. So, for Fate/Stay Night, the creator begrudgingly decided to add sex scenes to the original VN, because they would make the game sell better. (One of the routes does have an legit sex scene, but it was more because it is important to its themes), there was a rerelase of the original VN for the PS2, that had the sex scenes removed (and other improvements to the story) and that version has been the canon version of Fate/Stay Night since.
It may surprise you to learn that there wasn’t much of a market for indie SFW visual novels back in the day, so back when the first Fate game came out, its author basically had to put in elements like ‘mana transfer’ in order to make it marketable. In modern Fate works it doesn’t really refer to sex anymore-but the fans never forget.
That's been debunked several times. Nasu and Takeuchi made an eroge because they wanted to make an eroge. They already made Tsukihime prior to Stay Night and it was also an eroge.
@@aftertone3146 Yeah but only to get sales. It's not like he wanted to make it for the sake of sex. It was only included to guarantee sales if that wasn't the case they wouldn't have removed them in Realta Nua.
3:40 You killed an Orochi. Not *the* Yamata-no-Orochi. My guess on saber's identity is the one that slew the actual Yamata-no-Orochi: the kami of storms Susanoo
@@KhanhNguyen-mh5ec In that case, there is Yamato Takeru who apparently was given the sword that came from Yamata-no-Orochi's body, slew his brother, and was a legendary prince.
Remember this musashi is from alternate timeline. So she was implying that shousetsu in her og timeline must be a man(which makes sense since musashi is a guy in the remnant timeline)
Random Fate Trivia #9 Today's trivia is also pretty short and sweet: If my counting is correct, Miyamoto Iori is the 5th male protagonist we have in the fate series! (we're going by canonicity, FGO and Fate Extra has canonical male protagonists, thanks to their anime adaptations)
Which is depressing because Femsuka is such a chaotic gremlin lesbian but noooooooo we need to have Malesuka so we can have straight Mash ship! I WANT MY MASHUMALLOW YURI DAMNIT!
Hey Nico just let you know that there will be another important choice in the story coming up. Like with a majority of Visual Novels and Three Houses the Fate Series has multiple routes in its games usually. The first major choice hardly really affects anything, but the next choice will. And depending on which route you will either not learn the name or one servant or two servants unless you had some clue of who they are. Also hate to burst your bubble, but Tanner is telling the truth. I mean it was the same with the Utawarerumono series. First game of each was an eroge before being turned into proper games later down the line by their authors…although Fate Stay/Night still keeps the tone especially for one route…
to add more aboutthe whole "servants are pwoerfed by blood or semen" thing: yes this is true, but there's some other stuff to it as well. For instance its more to boost power and energy and NOT jsut a recharge, its pretty much mainly meant for a BIG boost and a power up. Being bonded to a master is a main method of just maintaining their current form and charges them gradually, but it's not good if they're VERY low on energy and if they need a huge amount RIGHT NOW (I could be getting some details ehre wrong mind so don't treat me like a an expert) As spirits servants have another method to boosting their power beyond...fluids. They can eat human souls. THis msotly exists as a story reason to show jsut how EVIL a master and/or servant is for doing such a thing.
34:46 Iori is/has become somewhat sociopathic. He wears the mask of kindness but deep down he knows he dosen't care and is ready to make almost any choice to get to his goals.
To Clarify on Spirit Origin that is basically another way of describing when a Heroic Spirit is summoned as a certain Class and where they are rooted at in a summoning (which is either a location or a Master). Because while some Spirits generally are only going to fit into one category- Guys like Robin Hood and William Tell almost always are going to be an Archer just based on the stories surrounding them- there are a good number that could technically fit under a few categories. The idea being that Class will determine which stories/legends the Heroic Spirit will most draw from, even influencing what form their Noble Phantasm will take. Mushashi is a good example- Miyamoto's skill with a sword is legendary enough that any version of them could easily be a Saber, but because Musashi was also considered a monster swordsman that would frequently duel others in the pursuit of strength (and the one or two times Mushashi was recorded taking part in war) means that they can also be called upon as a Berserker. And while most Spirits don't have the ability to remember when they have been summoned before they usually are at least somewhat aware of their own personal legends, and thus also know they could have been another Class.
Unfortunately, Tanner isn't lying to you. Yes, Fate was an Eroge at first, and yes, Nasu made an in universe element of the Magic System be that you-know-what is the "best" way to make sure a Mage and/or Servant receive large quantities of Mana quickly. It's not so ridiculous to where people would fluff in the middle of battle, but there are more or less a few cases of what boils down to "Okay, the final battle is tomorrow. Quick, make love to me!" Good news though, the OG Fate VN, "Fate/Stay Night" does have a version of it out that doesn't have those scenes, or allows you to turn them off, I forget which it is. Point is, for whenever you inevitably decide to LP it, you're safe. 😂👍
The choice between Todoroki and Kawasaki Daishi doesn't change very much, but it does affect what Digressions you get. If you choose Todoroki, you get more Rogue Saber, and if you choose Kawasaki Daishi, you get more of the old man.
"is that caster's master?" *said character doesn't have a dialogue box portrait, unlike literally every important character in the game* survey says....doubtful.
Tanner's bang on about Fate's origins. The original F/SN did contain H-scenes, though they're notoriously bad and often memed about for obvious reasons.
In regards to the origins of Fate; yes it was in fact an eroge. Nasu and Takeuichi - the author and lead artist of the VN respectively - went on to say in an interview that the reason behind this was because they wanted full artistic freedom when writing this story and they felt the best way to achieve that was with a mature rating to dissuade as much censorship restrictions as they could manage. Nasu admits that his writing of those...midnight gymnastic scenes is clumsy and amateurish but also admits that the story was written with that sort of content intended. That said; they would later release a version that removes those scenes called "Realta Nua" and if you do go to check more of the series out that's where I recommend you look.
About being unable to summon Rogue to help you in Spirit Font: It's due to insufficient affinity gauge. You can eat an item that replenish it from the main menu.
Tanner is right. The original Fate Visual Novel had three main girls, and each route had you making love to one of them. Also, I'm interested with Nico's guess. My guess was Susano-O since the connection to a mythical wrarior with a seemingly purified eight-headed snake. I know it's not right, so not a spoiler.
The reason why Musashi remember other "Summons" is because she never have been de-summoned but instead she keep traveling between worlds, reason why she said "The Yui from this world is female" though the boys never notice this until now XD. Also, is posible to change Classes under certain circunstances. Also, you can eat in the map to refill if you want to use Rogue Saber.
Tanner's not wrong. He's really not. The, shall we say...intimate regeneration of a Servant's mana is quite well-known. It happened in all three routes of Fate/Stay Night. In the Heaven's Feel route...just remove the Servant part. In Heaven's Feel... Shit. Goes. Crazy. And no, you don't get context from me.
Tanner is correct the original fate vn was an eroge. And if you look at his channel the guy has played the vn on youtube and has done multiple video on the nasuverse.
i think you keep forgetting that musashi comes from a alternate world, which is almost parallel to Iori's world. Yui is a dude in Musashi's alt world but Yui in this ''main'' world is actually a girl.
Honestly im surprised it took 10 episodes for Nico to learn fate started as an eroge. And also not the only eroge the made... " this chair is an eyesore"
Thanks alot Tanner, you gave him ANOTHER reason to say sus things about Rider. For someone who finds her weird and creepy, he sure does say alot of dirty jokes about her
I like to think that Musashi is basically what I like to call "Goku horny" meaning she wants to do nothing but fight and nothing else. Everything else be damned. Also, Previous Comment of the Day is right. Fate started out as an Eroge VN, until it spiraled into what we know as it is today.
So 2 things 1 yes fate was an eroge but that doesn't change the amazing story or the incredibly welcoming fan base (sides the guys who made it are atill proud of it and who can blame then) 2 I don't know if you understood what a magic circet but it's basically like a second set of vains that take magic energy through the body if abused it can lead to side effects such as tanning of the skin and whitening of the hair (in drastic cases it can be permanent) that how I understand it though don't take my comment as fact
As someone who knows the answer of who Saber is, you were as far off the mark as you could be while still being in Japanese history and folklore. Servants were people in life, like Gilgamesh, Zhou Yu, or Jeanne of Arc. Even the being that Aria (the pink haired girl you are rightfully terrified of) is a component of, Tamamo-no-mae, was inspired by stories of a real person that were subsequently mythologized into something almost unrecognizable as being originally based on just a person that history just happens to remember for one reason or another. So limit your search to just people and ignore the mythical creatures that may superficially seem to be a better match at first glance.
Unless I'm mistaken... Servants *could* be real people who were mythologized, but they could straight up be fictional *cough cough, a certain Assassin*, or non-humans. FGO is literally full of gods/monsters who are "Servants". We literally have multiple classes for people who are either not real or are space alien deities.
@@KhanhNguyen-mh5ecthe Chaldean people is special, they can summon so many shit to the point the planet itself give them middle finger, don't put their standard to normal grail war 😂
OK, something is a little weird in most versions of fates. Note I've only seen three series where they've actually, covered the summoning ritual. And one series is technically based in the computer simulation like Danganronpa 2. And I've seen about four or five series so yeah. To avoid any spoilers, 1, the spirits don't actually have remembers of memories of the tournament, but they can remember if they've taken part in one they just can't remember if they actually won or gotten any farther which means they do remember their class. Number two they do remember if other people have taken on the tournaments. [not to spoil anything but morty remembers that father arty took part in one of the tournaments, when morty takes part in one of the tournaments master is a necromancer this is important later.] second most masters have a variety of methods of summoning being a servant which can randomize features or options. For example the necromancer this is the reason why I brought him up in the parentheses section, despite using bones it does not guarantee him any suggestions of who he's got as his servant[this is unavoidable but yeah he's surprised] as well as in all scenarios you are never 100% sure what class they are well except for one but that's a spoiler because that's the entire plot of the series and it's a bit more complicated than usual. The only other way how people figure out what servant classes that they get before getting a servant is by looking at the roster that's already been summoned namely because you can't have two pieces of the same type granted that is only what I've seen in the animes, I don't know if this rule applies in the games. Also if you're wondering which one is taking place in a computer simulation I cannot tell you because that one is not really totally a spoiler for the series but at the same time it kinda is I mean it's not as much of A twist as it is in D2 & D14 but it is kind of a thing I mean you find out in episode 3 but you get really confused if you've watched I would love fate state series to go like way where in a computer simulation? Really doesn't help matters that was my second one. By the way my first one is the exception to the rule. Also I've never finished watching a fate series before so this will be my first hopefully! [note that does only apply to the faction not if you are doing the full chess game scenario, IE if team blue has as safer a writer, and the Archer but team red already has shown off that they have the sorcerer the assassin, and the berserker does not mean you are an an eligible to get one on your team later it's just by default you don't know which one of those are free up. Technically you can have duplicate pieces but it only depends if the game is set up as a chess match where each team has a roster of servants it it gets complicated depending on each story like I'm not going to go into those it's very complicated sorry for this wall of text]
So, quick note about your guess. You can't summon a God into the ritual. Effectively, gods are also know as Divine spirits, which are on a higher tier than Heroic Spirits, which are what servants are. Basically, attempting to summon a god without putting in severe efforts to weaken them to the point of being mortal, or finding gods that were considered mortal at one point, is impossible with how the ritual functions. Any servant summoned must be, on some level, human or mortal. Also, yeah that thing about transferring mana via bodily fluids... it's a thing. And it's been the bane of many a Fate fan when trying to explain the series to people.
I, like many others in the comments, am just enjoying your reaction to how Tanner explained the most basic part of Fate's origins. Since the Eroge thing is true and there has been instances where Mana Transfer is changed from being human fluids to something more PG based on the target auidence for what installment is being added. So the Eroge origins aren't in your face anymore due to how things had changed in the last 19 years. And if your wondering, no servants can't have children with humans due to how they don't have a proper physical body. But if they were to get one, it would be possible. It's just not something that happens. *Tries to hide Fate/Requiem and what it allows* Oh, one last thing. Majority of the servants in the series are in Fate/Grand Order. So thanks to that, their names are known to literally everyone who plays it. Hence why we know who Rouge Lancer, Rouge Archer, boss, the Old Man, and Musashi are. And this is due to how their true names are actually shown off via live streams to get us hyped for them.
Nope Tanner is right he had to experience it first hand from his 115 part fate stay night let's play along with his 400+ and ongoing fate grand order let's play
Musashi is unique as she comes from a different universe than the one the Fate/Grand-Order timeline takes place. As a result she tends to be sent to different universes as she journeys. That’s why she remember things unlike others. It’s not clear the extent of how much is different in her universe, but you can tell one difference is her gender of course since Ioris master is male. A good example of someone from a different universe where their gender is different is the OG Saber, who has a male counterpart who is the protagonist of the Fate/Prototype story.
