Why don't you just say: "Hi can I get the sides tapered with a scissors from the top down, then shaved tighter near the ear. Don't take much off the top, just a trim, because I'm trying to grow it out" - You say this and he'll make sure not to take much length off. Not hard man.

Honestly, one of the best DIY-style vids on RU-vid. Good footage, great music, good content and clear instruction on what he's doing. I think it looks pretty cool, but the problem I have is that these never last. They are quite literally weekly or fortnightly at best, haircuts. Which can get expensive if you're paying some hip joint to do it. Do I give any shits if this guy wears makeup or is gay or whatever? None.

Tony M first, make an appointment with your barber...i made it by asking him out for a cup of tea when his shop is closed and free.. then i showed him the entire video from start to end.. he said ok ill go home and learn this hairstyle... so, when i got back to his shop tomorrow, he started cutting my hair based on the hairstyle.. and yup.. he did it right.. he cut my sides and back halfway with number 2 and used scissors to fade it.. and the top..he didnt touch it..and continued with styling.. thats all man.. cheers and good luck

+Adam You can put some product in you hair when it's damp just before you blowdry it to make it stay up for longer. Also starting your blowdry on the hottest setting and finishing on the coldest setting helps too. If you're still having problems i recommend pomade or clay if you dont already use them.

You know this is an expensive place when the barber stops and gives you a wash and a drink AND uses scissors for a manual fade, while the cut is still live. In my place, the barber does that with clippers in 20 mins, then kicks us up the ass to get me out the seat in time for the next guy, HAHAHA!!!!!!! T RAW!

yeah that's exactly what i mean,it'll grow back in about 1 or 2 weeks cause in my opinion using number 3 guards is just too long for my sides therefore i would rather use number 1 guard to fade at least the trend can last for 3 weeks

For the first undercut hairstyle in your life, go for a stylist. They'll set ur parting and base of ur hair. This is important as a bad parting will screw ur hair up for months. After that, barber's will do

Anamosityy so sorry to heat that. Usually stylists are more used to trending hairstyles than barber's. Wish u luck. My first undercut was by a barber and they screwed my parting up. Takes at least 6 months of awkwardness to be regrown.

+Raoul To pull off this hair you need sharp features and a really fucking cut jawline like this guy. He even has a beardline to define it. If youre even remotely chubby this haircut will magnify it and make you look rounder. (I tried this cut and i looked fatter lol) Might do it after i lose a few pounds

I see everyone complaining about getting the wrong cut when asking for this and my solution is to never use the fancy names for the haircut like "disconnected undercut" Or shit like that unless youre sure your barber knows what they are and to always show them a picture when you change up the style

Hi Joe, I have fine hair and I have no idea how to get my hair to have more strands. I got a very simular hairstyle because your videos really inspired me. And I try my best to replicate the way you style it in your previous videos ( disconnected undercut how I style it). But after I toweldry it my hair does not fall in one direction like yours. Mine are all over the place and very seperated. I use the Loreal oil you showcased in one of your videos and wash my hair every day with 15$ shampoo. I heard you think its better to skip it every other day but how am I suppost to get my styling products out without it (using by vilain silver fox atm). Thank you for all the great and inspiring videos :)

Chris Saur My process is get out of the shower and apply a little product into my hair then blow dry and brush in the direction I want, then a little more product. But I also had been doing this for a year and I have Asian hair.
