This feature where you can choose which text/voice channels you see in a list of channels is by far my most wanted features. I want to go to those big servers and just focus on channels that are important to me, and just check those other channels when I want to in channel browser
Same. No offense to server owner or team putting all hard work to many channels. It's just not everyone want to see it. I usually mute channels or even categories of channel to see what I want. For server with few channels, it's not big deal. For server with 100+ channels, it's just chore and pain in the ass to mute every single channel.
browse channels seems cool, but i feel like it's gonna kill server engagement by a lot depending on how many people are in your server and who they are
I mean, you can already completely mute a channel and then select the option to hide muted channels. It already exists, just slightly less convenient, and let's be honest, especially in really big servers, there's just too many channels to ever hope to keep up with everything.
i think it should just be favouriting channels, not completely removing channels. i feel like being able to remove channels might confuse newcomers. having only favourites still allows users to "pin" channels at the top.
@@chasalol But I just said that you can already remove channels aaaa. Like, you can mute channels, and there is a setting that allows you to remove muted channels. I personally don't like it either because it makes me forget that certain channels exist and it also makes it a pain when I get a ping in these, as the ping is there, but I can't access the channel, thus not clear it. But to be honest, I have been in servers like the official Arma 3 Discord that feels like it has about 300 different channels as there are sooooooooo many topics to talk about. If you don't hide channels it'll completely overwhelm you because you probably need that server for just a specific thing but they have a ton of channels to cover just about everything. Remember this is still optional, you don't have to hide channels if you don't want to, you can always just mute channels or not do anything if it's a smaller server. But huge 200+ channel Discord Servers are a mess to use if you need like maybe 5 channels.
I think the best option would for the ability for server owners and admins to require certain channels like the rules & guidelines, announcements, etc. For example if an owner updated the rules and made an announcement about the update, if a person hides the channel they are unable to view the announcement which can get them in trouble with the staff.
@@SashaMasonVR i think that option should stay like that. it would be hard for a new user to do that by accident, but easier for them to do it with this new system.
feels TOOOO overwhelming like imagine having to go through welcome screen, rules thingy, reaction roles, server verfication, dismissing auto welcome pings, enabling every channel, etc and voice channels being separated feels very unnatural and weird
Every channels would probably be enabled by default, i would assume. Its not any less overwhelming then scrolling though rules to click check mark and then scroll though roles section channel to select roles. I think having everything cleaned on a welcome screen is more more appealing and easier for admins and owners to set it up
Events, Browse Channels, Customize Community above channels? they look like a channel! well they are not! the right click options are saturated enough. adding more options there is not a good choice unless you have crazy expanding options on right click menu. even if you do that, how are you even going to intuitively separate them in category? now ui/ux design is busted :) they need a new one for that.
Server was surprisingly chill for Discord. I left because someone was posting cp emotes and I'm pretty sure he still has an active account. But otherwise neat server.
I like this feature better than the webhook mostly because the webhook can be ignore by newcomers in your server, and therefore they won't get the roles you are offering to them, and they'll loose part of the expirience because of that.
It looks much better on mobile view where the Events, browse channels, and the customise thing are just icons instead of taking up an entire channel space.
@Patrick Schmalstig i don't think those kind of features would be locked behind paywall, I'm just grateful that discord hasn't taken away any features from the free users and have instead added more features for nitro which is way better than what sites like RU-vid are doing
A quick question!!! So if I'm a person who hasn't joined a server yet and lurking at the chats from preview mode can their admins know my ID or that I'm lurking into the server without joining?????
This is pretty cool but I think the issue is people will lie about what they want to do in the server just to gain access to more channels, but that’s just me. Noti gang
Wow I have been building my servers and others like this where channels can be removed and it looks darn good. I guess my past 3 years will done soon when this is everywhere. Thank you discord for following my perks and festures.
How can you get the customize community / so people can change things such as specific games / classes of certain games etc? confusing how to get that channel.
If only discord rolled features out in a way that makes sense, rather than just rolling the dice and giving features out completely randomly. Like, man it's been 3 months and still nothing even though I'd love to use this feature on some of my servers. Same way they just rolled out custom themes for nitro users except none of my friends got it but I did for whatever reason
How to set it back like I will not click the browse channel. Because when my staff member makes a new channel I do not know about it so I have to go bakc and click it.
I don't really like the interface of the rule panel now and I think reactionrole is more intuitive than what discord dev want to do. These things somehow make the whole join server interaction more complicated imo. That's why I disabled the rule panel after I tried when it was just released.
3:10 Expirements tab exists (there's a special Java script code to enable expirements tab, the one I found is not a virus or token logger, I enabled it for one of my servers with expirements tab early)
I think its cool that discord is trying to implement popular features from bots (reaction roles, user verification forms, etc), but part of me feels like they're doing this to make bots obsolete (or at least general bots, not bots with super niche features). I'm not sure if they're doing this to give discord a more consistent feel, or if they have malicious intent towards bot developers. Maybe their end goal is to remove bots all together in order to eliminate bot spam/scams. Whatever the case, these features are pretty cool.
I mean considering they gave bots their own section now, I don’t think they want to fully phase them out, but realised maybe how needed some features are and how they should be a part of discord’s basic features?
I guess I'll start using that, however I would still provide a way for users to customize using bots. Reason is simple. Some users might for some reason use an outdated Discord client version that doesn't support these new features, and that would definitely kill the experience for them. Then they would have to contact the admins if they could assign the roles for them (that they don't see certain channels, or can't write in the server at all), and to be fair, that might start bothering the admin team and distracting them from other, more important tasks. It would also be fairly good if Discord decided to open these features into Discord API, so bot makers could easily just integrate with these features, and that would definitely make the server much more accessible to people who are for some reason using an outdated version of Discord client. From what I know, Automod does integrate into Discord API, so bots can actually use the Automod feature. Would make it sense for this reason as well.
I don't think they are phasing out discord bots, just like the automod thing its more of an addition. I don't think reaction roles will go away entirely since this system can't do everything that reaction roles can do, just like automod can't and isn't designed to do everything bots can do
I'm starting to feel like Discord is running out of good ideas for actual features, so they're trying to streamline what bot makers are already doing comfortably well. I'll admit some of things I've liked and welcomed, like making temporary text chats in voice channels, but some point Discord's efforts are gonna feel redundant.
Lots of ppl like this new stuff but personaly i think hiding channels is not so good idea cuz someone worked to make it look nice and you simply hide everything beside general and this role choosing system seems nice but we already had good ways to give them
@@slicepie410 I mean, they could do that because they're money hungry corporation (which, can just lock something out of server settings behind an a paywall, because what is stopping them? They've already locked all the new good features behind paywall and deleted Nitro Classic.)
@@AlexWebz yes thats true but i doubt many people would pay for something you can easily get for free. If they actually put this behind a paywall then they would look REALLY bad in peoples eyes
