Welcome back to another day hike! Today you have myself, Tessa, and Lolly all tagging along on a beautiful day hike to a private and secluded beach on North Idaho's very own Lake Pend Oreille. This one is called Maiden Rock, and it was a winner in my book. We picked the perfect day to trek down to the beach and we only had to share it with a few others who were camping further down the shoreline. One could consider this a local secret, and I highly recommend you check it out!
We did a similar hike a year ago to a nearby beach called Evan's Landing. Check it out here: • Hiking to Evan's Landi...

Oh man, talk about a one-two punch!!! You start the season off with an epic trek to Spar Peak, then follow up with Maiden Rock!!! You are on fire my friend!!! If this is any indication of what is to come this year, 2023 is going to be AWESOME!!! I ABSOLUTELY know this trail!!!! It is one of a few that I researched my brains out on because it was near a property we were looking at in Sagle. I think it was our dream home #3. You could have NOT picked a sunnier day with bluer skies and clearer water!!! Glad that Tessa and Lolly could make the trek!!! Awesome drone shot in the intro!!! Great framing of the shot!!! Not sure if that is the proper way to say that but you nailed it in true Danny S. style!!! How gorgeous is that beach!!! And only with two points of entry, how cool is that!!! You do not use pop ups often, but when you do, they are always spot on!!! Love the name tag overlay. 😊 Your intros and outros are second to none!!! The trail head at that time of the day, with that sun looks AMAZING on a 65” LG. We loved the sound of nature while you entered the trail. Typically, you have the perfect music playing in the background at the perfect level, but we loved the sound of raw nature with the sunlight shining through the trees!!! I have seen this trail in Fall / Winter, but OMG, it is gorgeous in the beginning of Summer. This is by far the best vid of this trail out there!!! Hands down!!! Wow, those were a lot of big rocks you needed to hike through at the beginning of the trail. Yikes, it looked like an avalanche of rocks. 😊 Ankle break city!!! Good Lord, all those fall downs along the trail. After last winter, I can’t help but look at those trees in terms of potential firewood. 😊😊😊 Crazy question, can you remove the trees from trails like this for the purpose of firewood for private use? Hmmm, I just realized if the answer is yes, how would you do it? 😊 It looked pretty steep at the point prior to the walk by. Awesome walk by near the water. Your walk byes always appear to be spontaneous, but when you think about it, a ton of thought and effort must go into them!!! Just a gorgeous shot, and of course, Lolly stopped for a great photo!!! It is like she knows the camera is there!!! Love the sound of running water as you 3 head down the trail!!! Oh man, just had to point out how cool the shot was at the 2:38 mark. We watched this video 3 times. The way the sun shines through the trees, just breathtaking (BT) 😉 Great reveal before hitting the beach!!! Holy moly what a view!!! I remember you did something similar right before you hit the “devil’s staircase” when you were in the Sawtooth’s. You are walking down the trail and then BAM! You are hit in the face with a beautiful lake surrounded by gorgeous mountains and that ginormous cliff to the right!!! We definitely paused the vid there. Question. I am guessing those two things floating in the backdrop were buoys for boats to attach, correct? We loved seeing Lolly in the water. We remember her when she was little fetching branches at the Evan’s beach hike. She has developed a bit of a leap prior to beginning her swim. Totally adorable!! Wow, nice job bringing back 2 sticks!!! Lolly is a total overachiever!!! You can tell she loves the water AND OMG, is that water clear!!! I am guessing the water was much warmer than the high Alpine plunge you took last year on the hike with your buds, but that was later in the year if I recall, SO, I must ask, was this warmer or colder than that dip? Hehehehehe, Lolly swam towards you like you had a bag filled with Scooby snacks. 😊 I needed to rewind to see your message re: the possible submersion of said recording device. Hehehehe, we both LOL, but we hope it is OK! The pee zone may have protected it!!! LOVE the seclusion of that beach!!! Hmmm, a Winter camp out seems like it would be pretty tough, especially the hike out, BUT OMG, I bet it would be beautiful!!! All that gorgeous scenery snow covered would be beautiful!!! What the heck were those bugs on your hiking pole and pack? At first, we thought they were flies, but then they looked like wasps. That scene looked a little apocalyptic for a sec. 😊 We think we heard you say they were bees. Any idea why there were so many? The panoramic shot you took before you left the beach was AWESOME!!! My first thought was, how could you guys leave??? Hehehehe. 😊 The ascent from the beach is what worried me. We heard some heavy breathing on the way back. 😊 Love the music overlay. You always pick the right soundtrack AND, I cannot stress this enough, the right sound level. I cannot tell you the number of times I watch a YT video and they screw that up. 😊 You should teach a course on adding sound to your videos. 😊 That shot at the ~7:32 mark was super gorgeous. Love all the trees with the sunlight coming through. I think the shot earlier at the 2:38 mark beats it, BUT only because of the time of day. The sun seemed shinier then. 😊 That is AWESOME. We cannot believe you made it back in less than 1 hour, all uphill!!! I did not read any reviews on this hike, I just saw some vids and read some comments, but I was totally concerned about the trip back. I am in no way in as good of shape as you guys, but now I think I can move this up on my hike list if I do some stair training. What an absolutely wonderful video. We enjoyed the heck out of it!!! We are smiling ear to ear!!! I don’t recall, but I think we watched it 3 or 4 times all together. That does not count all the pauses we took to take in the scenery!!! So many great shots!!! Hard to beat the reveal to the lake. The 2:38 mark and 7:32 mark were numbers 2 A and 2 B. 😊 We hope you all have a great Independence weekend! We hope you and Tessa can get some time off work and enjoy the holiday!!! Be safe and stay well!!!

Great video. I hiked Maiden Rock, once. If you're older, the down hill hike is a little hard on your knees, but gorgeous. Going back up, about a third of the way, I told my husband to go ahead and leave me there. I was prepared to live out my life, right there. Not a good first time hike, for sure. 😅

Might be a great lake to get a canoe out on if you can manage to tote one down to it somewhere.

I was wondering if you guys were going to get in ! We are going 'waterfall chasing' in a few days in the Nantahala National Forest and are hoping for some viable swimming holes, & good weather, of course ! I gotta get out that way soon.
