We bought this same generator last summer for our RV needs. We took out the old broken Onan that came with our RV and replaced it with this. It works flawlessly and we would agree with your assessment. We don't think there is another generator out there that gives you that much power for its size. Great video!

Thats great to hear that you have this one too and have had it for a while now. Thats one things I can't assess yet is longevity but sounds like it has worked great for you guys. We agree the power in this form factor is hard to beat. Thanks for watching- Kyle

So glad it was helpful for you. If you have any questions let me know. We've only been using it for about 2 weeks but it's been great. One guy did reach out and he's had his for a year and has had zero issues with it. It's performing flawlessly.- Kyle

@@thewanderingshores Good to know. I've been trying to decide between Champion, Wen and now I will be looking at this one too.

@@bumpyroadsrvlife we had a champion 2000 watt for a while and it did really well for us. We were actually able to run our air conditioner off it since we have micro air easy start on it. But then it started bogging down and I thought we needed a bigger one. That's how I ended up with the predator. Then found out it was actually just the air conditioner going bad because of a compressed relief. If not, we would have definitely held on to our champion for as long as we could. They're at a great price and about the same size as The gen Max but with the GenMax you get so much more power

@@thewanderingshores Thanks for sharing your experience with the generators. I think we are leaning towards the predator due to the weight.

I like the fact with the weight. That’s a big difference,especially with a 3k watt unit. Pricing also looks really competitive as well. Love seeing other manufacturers giving the big dawgs a run for their money. That predator 3500 keeps creeping up in price and this one is less weight and a fraction of that price. Guess we will have to see how the longevity works out, so far looks solid . Nice pickup !

Couldn't agree more, there's no way I would ever buy a Honda for what they charge for that too. I had just seen your RU-vid short about the Costco Furman that you found as well so it was a very timely post. Thanks for checking it out- Kyle

@@thewanderingshores the price point is fairly close with this one and the Firman currently,but this one has the size factor going with it , even though the firman has 700 more watts but is in that 100lbs category. Safe travels Kyle !

I did not do that break-in with my generator 😳 Thank you for the info and I better change the oil now!

Glad to help, yes the first few hours of use you really get a lot of metal shards from a new engine. You probably won't see a huge change now but the gen should last a lot longer with a few extra steps at the start.- Kyle

I'm thinking about replacing the 5,500w Generac generator in my motorhome with a 4,000w (3,200 running watts) GenMax with the electric start so when it's bad weather out I can just touch a button to start her up without going outside like I currently do. We're FT RVers who boondock almost exclusively using a large solar/lithium battery system for our power needs, so this is just a back-up. I don't really need 5,500 watts and would appreciate the fuel savings of the lighter, more efficient inverter generator. My generator now has over 3,000 hrs. on it so it doesn't have the power it once did. It still runs well, but I'm sure it's nearing the end of its life. I'm concerned about how frequently the oil will need changing, and how long this lightweight GenMax will last without an oil filter. I change my oil every 100 hrs., and my filter every other oil change as this is what the manufacturer recommends for this automotive grade, high-capacity filter. What oil change interval does GenMax recommend? I don't expect the GenMax to last anywhere near as long as my current Generac, but I can certainly afford to replace it more often, as an equivalent 5,500w Onan MH generator costs about 7 times what the 4,000w GenMax does. How long do you think it will last with proper maintenance? Do you think I can get 1,000 hrs. out of it? Thanks! Chip

Chip, thanks so much for the comment and questions. I'll do my best to give you my take on the GenMax. So far since we got it back in March we have put about 250 hours on it and it has been wonderful. I do wish it had a slightly bigger gas tank but I know we sacrafice that for the small form factor. Outside of the break in period that I talked about in the video, we have changed the oil at 50 hours and then at 100 and then from that point on we do every 100 hours. I have really been impressed so far and I am really confident that I should be able to get at least 1000 hours or more out of it. We had previously had the predator 3500 from Harbor Freight (while this is larger gen but does not have a oil filter either) when we sold that to get the GenMax it had 1200 hours on it and was still running great. We use 87 octane fuel with an injector cleaner to help keep things running well. I think you would be very happy with this option you are thinking about. - Kyle

@@thewanderingshores Thanks for the detailed reply. I plan to connect the fuel line to my motorhome's fuel tank like my current generator is plumbed, using the existing fuel pump and filter, so gas tank capacity isn't an issue. I'll have over 40 gallons available for generator use. My MH keeps 1/3 of my 80-gallon gas tank in reserve, so it can't be sucked dry by the generator. There is another GenMax model that will be available soon that I would like to get, a 4500w fuel injected model that is about the same size and weight. I contacted GenMax and they said it should be available in the US in November, so I think I'll just wait and buy one then. This model will be more expensive at around $1,000 but it has a couple advantages. The most important one is that it automatically adjusts the fuel mixture regardless of altitude, so there's no need to change jets like in a carbureted model. This is important to us as we frequently travel to the mountains as well as the desert. An EFI engine is also about 15% more fuel efficient than a carbureted one because the fuel ratio is more precise. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-deOYyDnNjns.html&ab_channel=JOHNNY%27SWEEKENDS

OH WOW, watching the video you sent, this is a game changer. Yes I would agree waiting till it comes out would be welll worth it even at 1k it is still such a great deal. Having the direct line to your gastank is an amazing bonus. I have thought about possibly getting a supplemental tank for mine but not sure how often I would need to use it vs the cost of just going out and putting more fuel in mine. I do wish they had a fuel gauge. I'll look forward to seeing this new model.- Kyle

Great review! We had never heard of a magnetic dipstick! We saw that Michelle made an appearance with her shadow! 😁Were you filming at Imperial Sand Dunes during the last segment? ~ Shion and Matthew

@thewanderingshores Год назад
Yes it was! You are correct. I went out to the sand dunes to film the intro and the recap. Got a chance to use my new tripod for the GoPro so that's an added bonus. Yes, the magnetic dipstick can really help get some of the shards of metal out of the oil and stop them from recirculating into your generator. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. It's been great, absolutely no problems. Kind of wish it had a larger gas tank but for the size I can't complain. Be running our air conditioner as well as charging our lithium batteries without any issue. We frequently use it for our 1500 watt air fryer with no issues. We've been running 87 octane gas in it with a stabilizer. Two thumbs up for this generator so far
