There are other units with more power but so far there is no unit with this amount of power with remote electric start and dual fuel this compact. Pretty much the biggest selling point. So if lighter and more compact is what you need then this is a good option. This is a little less then 60lbs empty verses other units are about 98-99 lbs empty.

Johnny, I just wanted to say over all you do a GREAT JOB in these videos. As a Resource with many Videos, I often use yours to help me make choices.... so, my money often is spent by your well-made and I think honest assessment. I did some research looking for how long these machines lasted with a full tank of gas and found nothing. So, I can't blame you for their not sharing, but it's also a MISSED Opportunity. I think COST OF RUNNING is a very important aspect today in light of $5 dollar Gas prices and $4 Propane prices.... OTHERWISE, many thanks again! - m.

Wow appreciate the kind words. And yea not much info for run times anywhere yet on these. I would say low and mid range rpm will probably be less fuel consumption then say a comparable 3500 with a larger 212cc engine. But maybe the upper rpm’s where the small engine with probably have to rev quicker may burn a pinch more or very close to the same as the larger units. But this unit is compact and lighter so benefits there. How long will it last. I think it has the same chance as any unit not made by Honda and Yamaha. And many are getting great success out of the gen max 3200 and Maxpeedingrods unit which is the same and uses the same 145cc engine. So at the moment it seems they are holding there own. Sure some have had problems but you could say that for all of the brands out there.

Quick question, this new inverter what company makes the engine? And where is it made? And also do you know how reliable these things are?
@johnnysweekends
@johnnysweekends Год назад
Like all generators that are not Honda or Yamaha, well even Yamaha now are all made in China. From a few different companies. Genmax is the maker of many different brands and then started there own line. So now they sell direct verses just making units for other companies. The newer 145cc Hp engine is actually pretty impressive. It’s only been out for about 1.5 years so hard to tell how it will do in the long run. Just like a new car with a new engine ?? How will it do, no one knows till about 3-5 years or a certain amount of miles or hours. But many people are pleased with these units, but there have been a couple with issues but I could say that for every brand including Honda. So just depends what you need and want and what’s important for you.

It would be wise to charge that battery with a smart charger before first use, and before storage, then anytime coming out of storage. @johnnysweekends
@johnnysweekends Год назад
Yes if the battery dies, which should take a long time, but it’s best to fire it up periodically or take battery out and trickle charge it. It is a lithium battery so does last. And replacements should be around soon or at least a place to source it. But some of these fire on gas or propane when battery is dead. I haven’t actually tested this one yet. Did you see my latest video with the dual fuel kit I added to the smart generator. During the test I was using this generator to ac feed and the smart Gen to Dc feed. I love this little unit so far. Great size and dual fuel and quiet. It will work great for the DP , but you can only use 1800 watts from DP because it will be pass through but that will suffice most people and items. So even at 1000 watts being used the other 800 could be charging the the DP unit. And 800 watts is still pretty decent for feed!

@johnnysweekends
@johnnysweekends Год назад
With two soft starts yes it would run it. But you will be close to max running watts. Each will burn about 1350-1475 watts depending the units and temp. This leaves no room for anything else and running constantly over 80% in high temps can wear the unit quicker. Normally if you need more then 80% consistently then you need to step up to the next size. Say a 4500 unit or so.

I don't need all this power but from my limited research this seems to be the smallest remote self start unit one can buy. By the way, I don't know what is going on but when looking at this unit at Amazon it is saying that it cannot shipped to my area...Southern California....hmmm

Yes pretty much the smallest auto start dual fuel unit around. As far as Amazon they sometimes like to make there own rules. Try Home Depot or Walmart on line as they will ship it sometimes.

I bought this model last year and it ran great. I started it 6 months later and the electric start does not work. Yes I made sure all the plugs were correctly plugged in. I unplugged the battery and plugged it back in and white electric smoke came out. I bought the charger made for this battery and it did not do a thing. I have tried to find a new battery and no joy. So no more electric start anymore. Made in China comes with it's issues. They make a charger to sell but not a new battery.

You can normally just go to a batteries plus or even eBay and find a replacement battery. Not sure why the smoke or arching but that’s normally a loose connection that will cause that. Definitely a bummer. Although you are the first to report that so thanks for letting me know. I like to get data from who ever for reference.

Hola Gerardo, you can but it ends up being a gravity feed meaning it has to sit higher then the generator. And you also don’t want to really leave them unattended if possible. @johnnysweekends Год назад
Hey Mike, thank you for the compliments, definitely appreciated. Duuudeee, that’s a tough one. All the time I look at them because they sit side by side in my garage. And when I go on trips I like to bring a generator for back up or use depending where or what I’m doing. Do I need extra power? Do I want remote start ? And am I going to use propane again. Which is so nice with big tanks and less smell and honestly less deadly lol. HONDA….. WHY???? Please why not a dual fuel electric start 2500!!!! Ahhhh 🤣🤣🤣 I’ll tell ya the Genmax 3500 DF is pretty darn nice and it’s not that loud especially when being used in the low range. Anything mid throttle and down totally good. Mid throttle to more max, sure you can hear it but it’s the same as all of them, except the Honda. Sooooo…🤷‍♂️ Honda can be repaired any time and parts are available. Genmax is now starting to get some stuff available but honestly I don’t think anyone will work on it. So diy will be on that model. If I needed a generator and was deciding between the two, I would be researching them both for ever watching videos, and more. Eventually my wife would get tired of it and then end up buying me one. Then I guess I would use that…😂😂 Honestly one of the toughest generator questions. I will say this. I’m liking propane more and more lol.

A 15k ac unit so with soft start as well as the camper. Just didn’t know if running the Honda at 75-85 percent amperage all day would help in a decision. Typically i should use about 15 or so amps correct ? So either I have the extra power or quieter but revving up pretty high all day. So I have heard people abusing the Honda and running loads of almost 100% all the time. Construction workers don’t care. They abuse stuff like a honey badger. But the rule of thumb really is if you are using 80% all the time and once in a while needing more, the next size up unit should be considered so you can stay around they 40%-75% range. A 15k unit will draw around 13 amps or so depending unit and more.
