What I hoped would happen is Ben would double jump and still not make it to the other side.

I am on Rowans side here :) While double jump is an interesting game mechanic and very often used in some themes, especially where the source material already has similar things, I usually do have a problem with such mechanics when there is no explanation (I accept 'magic' or 'different physics') but in some games there is no explanation at al, just "we thought this was fun so we added it" and that can break the immersion for me. If its a game designed around jumping to get to places sure, but in games where that is not really a thing its just feels misplaced :)

@@PaulTomblin Horse pocket is a bit off yes :) Riding up to steep mountains has not really been a thing in the games I have played, sure sometimes the horse could jump i bit more but that's not to unrealistic, I doubt you would be able to get a horse to try it ;) but mountain goats have proven that you can scale almost vertical cliffs in hooves so :P

Not all games have the "same" double jump. Super Mario 64, for example, had a "double" and "triple" jump but these were separate jumps (touching ground between them) and _not_ something you could just do anytime in mid-air.

@@davidmartensson273​​⁠​⁠​⁠the horse pocket is mainly a nod to mmorpgs where you can summon your horse at any time. Often joked about as if you’d been keeping it in your pocket the entire time. The horses walking up mountains vertically, afaik, is a skyrim exclusive thing that for some reason allowed horses to do that. I’m not sure what gets me most about these two arguing. That the tutorial has clearly failed Rowen if he doesn’t know about double jumping (clearly an important feature for traversing the world), or that Ben (who was once in Rowen’s shoes) chooses to unhelpfully insult him the moment he asks what double jumping is. So both this game’s tutorial and Rowen are not very new player friendly.

I hope he doesn’t try to double jump over a chasm in real life

Well, in just this case, if Ben had not been with him to teach him the wonders of double jump Rowan would have had to take quite a detour to get to the elven lands or where ever they were going. Sooo yeah, i could see how not knowing 'basic' things could get him more exp.

I'd love to see a reversal where Rowan knows a game mechanic that Ben doesn't, supposedly, but unlike Rowan Ben doesn't argue since he knows the shoe has been on the other foot so to speak, but turns out, Rowan was mistaken and they both die horribly trying to do it. Which is what leads to the argument of the episode haha

These things happen. I basically finished destiny 2 campaign before discovering the "high jump". Because it was not covered in ingame tutorial, had to search tutorial on the web. I saw people jumping to places I couldn't, had to use ship teleport to get out of one quest because I couldn't jump out. I though maybe you needed armor decked in full mobility buffs, different class, different jump selectible, , but no, you just have to tap the button correctly. That was my 'ah' moment. I hate when games do not explain 'obvious' mechanics, and you have to read tutorials.

We unlocked double jump for Amedeus in Trine 5 and immediately forgot to use it for like 90% of the rest of the game. We're on a new playthrough now and holy crap it makes life easier!

oh yeah, like me exploring wow as f2p and doing stuff that requires flying, and then i just abuse the death mechanic in some areas and in some areas i just wait for 30+ minutes (how long the toy that is not a toy takes to reload), mount hyjal exploration was the worst though. literal 20? minute runs one way to get 5 more feets to map and then lvl ??? kills ye in 1 hit with 10000 over my max hp.

Yeah, I kinda woke up to how kinda bonkers that is in Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor games. I mean...you jump, then do a salto as a second jump mid air, changing the direction, you land on a WALL, run the wall, make a salto, run the wall some more, then you bounce away, make another salto, then you fokin dash as a force power mid air, do another salto, co now you technically quadruple-jumped and you can do this shit endlessly:-D....and you dont climb a wall like a normal person. You do vertical doublejumps!:-D Tellin ya, Cal Kestis was never mentioned that physics exist:-D but its so much fun.

I still prefer real background, but I don't have anything against CGI backgounds when they are neeeded.

@@jacekpietrzak445 yeah I was distracted the whole time. Live sets are best IMHO. Full cg backgrounds are hard even for some movies, let alone youtube.

don't like it really for the whole set. definitely helps with some stuff but it's too obvious in this one

Disney probably owns some of the companies that provide the assets, the renderers, the video editors -- that' s 3d files and software, not people

Yeah this is our first skit in full greenscreen! This does mark a pretty important milestone for us. So happy that everyone is loving it. Definitely not going to stop filming in real life locations - but being able to do this now opens up a world of possibilities

I disagree, on location videos are always going to be better. I’m disappointed, I know it’s more work to go out and film on locale and with perhaps a small set like this would require, but to make it all on green screen is a sign of laziness and I hope it doesn’t continue. I.e the hobbit compared to lotr. CGI ruined those films. Just an opinion and happy for others to disagree.

No, absolutely not. It looks awfully... Quality much worse than their classic production.

@@robert3683 I guess it would be a problem to find a suitable bridge for location filming. Here you either build big scenery or shoot on a green screen. The choice is obvious :)

@@kathrina3339 I’m no filmmaker but you could do a mixture of on locale and incorporation of CG. My argument is doing the entire thing on green screen.

They have also gained more following and increased their production etc in a lot of ways which is awesome, I would rather the former to what you described there. Its always been about their quality
