Bad timeline: "Let's turn Roshi into a completely ineffectual joke character." Good timeline: "Let's turn Roshi into a difficult-to-master badass with a variety of ways to obliterate opponents."
@@saysay7191 I said "genuinely". There's many reasons why he was able to dodge Jiren that I assume you know already, but he's still very far away from reaching that kind of power like the rest of the human characters.
Angel I dunno, He’s definitely WAY stronger than Tuen. He was able to catch up the Goku w/ God Ki. Plus he has 300 years of experience. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the strongest.
@@saysay7191 I'm not saying he's not the strongest human. I'm saying that being the strongest human doesn't mean shit in Dragon Ball when you compare him to Goku or any character around his level. Like I said, he was able to dodge Jiren for many reasons, his power level isn't one of them.
Seeing Roshi in this game really makes me want to see him get another scene to himself in the anime, like how he eliminated a bunch of bit players on his own, and finally conquered his weakness to women.
valentds The game is already the way it is. I dunno it’ll be smart for Bandai to change the game for people who barely play the game. But yea hopefully this game gets rollback. The producer hinted at it.
I saw Globku say that roshi strange beam thing if you combo after it it reduces the damage you do or something, i am sorryi don't play fighting games but i watch a lot of then XD
Its probably the flashiness. Fighterz has some of the best animations and sound design out of most fighting games. And the supers animation definitely help.
That depends on the CHARACTER lore wise. Some have the potential for it like Roshi, Ultra Instinct Goku, Beerus, Janemba, Android 18, Ginyu, etc. While some are straightforward because that's just how they are.
new ceo of funny. Face palm 🤦🏻♂️ you really didn’t watch or read the original dragon ball. He used that persona to enter the tournament. Just a disguise, geesh..
@@CharlesPlaine And the fact that Max makes Black, the debatably lowest tier in this game, look good, gives me hope as a Black main. Though then again I just suck, and often times my frontman is Yamcha. Who got hella nerfed.
5:26 Roshi beats Cell half to death while screaming "Lick my ass Cell" is totally cannon. I saw it when it came out in the 90s. Nice of Max to recreate such an iconic moment
@@whitehairedbadass3475 I mean, naturally that's the case. Roshi is an excellent character, but he requires commitment. Roshi isn't the entry-level character you learn the game with that you could then potentially take to new heights. Roshi is advanced and will take a player wiling to specialize with him to make him shine.
Perfect Cell: "Finally, it's the day of the tournament. The Cell Games can finally begin--- ...who the hell are you." Master Roshi: "Your first and last opponent." Perfect Cell: "Don't make me laugh, you're just a human." Master Roshi: "A human who trained Goku. Lemme show you how." *Cue Video*
"Oh so you do this and this cool cool thanks chat" yeah, like you said, he just copied from chat. all old very difficult fighting games, he copied and himself max said "this isn't a fighterz character, but more a regular 2d fighting one"
Watching how and why people are struggling made me realize that a lot of the difficulty people have comes from Roshi not automating things from other fighting games that FighterZ usually automates for everyone. Experience playing a lot of other fighting games makes him a lot easier, because most other games don't do things like aim your approach for you, but a lot of FighterZ streamers play only FighterZ and don't have that experience. Like Max said, Roshi's basically a character from a regular fighting game, in FighterZ.
There's nothing normal about Dragon Ball characters, lol. And Max doesn't even use the other technical characters in the game like Android 17, Android 18, Janemba, Hit, Zamasu, Videl, Beerus, etc. He's stuck on stupid using Goku Black, so he doesn't get to say that, lol. There are characters for different level of players, easy, medium, and hard. And even with the easy characters you STILL have to practice optimization. Practicing combos is one thing, but Max would not get far in a DBFZ tournament, lol. And how is Roshi a "normal" fighting game character when he can do more than half the rosters in something like Street Fighter?!?!?! Make it make sense. Max played himself with that remark.
@DeadMemes NeedToStayDead TOP, all imma say. Guy never said he could wipe goku or vegeta off the map, but roshi does make up for a large gap in power with his techniques and battle experience, can't take that from him.
@@TheGlockParty and then what happens? dont leave out the fact jiren started trying a bit more and got down mind he doesnt have ui he was showing goku how to use it
Seeing the potential on some of the characters and just cinematically makes me really really want Arcsys make a Jojo fighting game. I want to see so much variety in moveset compared to dragon balls 90% different beam attacks.
nam3l3ss z3r0 Never played it myself but it looks like fun. I’ve been a huge DB fan for a long time and it’s nice that we have DBFZ but now it’s Jojo’s turn. A Naruto fighting game could be cool too. There’s a lot of anime that deserve actual good games but don’t get them sadly.
Fighting games, let alone Roshi, are the things that I will never understand and will always be amazed by even the most baby basic stuff. But this is way more then basic.
Understanding the basic notions in a fighting game really improves the spectacle. For example, KI is way cooler when you know the interactions going on with every combo. Also, fighting games are fucking hard, man. I haven't exactly put in the time, but I struggle with a lot of inputs.
@@JulieLamia if I play KI I just press the one the does the auto combo and stick with, but anyone who is good at a fighting game is full of my respect.
I know what you mean! When games like MK11 go out of their way to explain frame data and all that sort of thing which I know ‘of’ but don’t really utilise, me having played fighting games for years and just enjoy them as they are without going into that deep territory, it makes me wonder if I ‘should’ learn such things. I don’t play online though, just with a friend when they come over and otherwise only single player.
same, i can barely play smash bros and that's as basic as it gets, my twelve year old little brother is consistently better than me at it, so i'm really envious of people who can function at speeds usable for genuine fighting games.
I think that's the idea, Roshi is strong not because of his power level, but because he has a lot of experience and skill, he has to try much more than the others, and the game reflects that very well, a difficult character to use, but rewards with many options to do crazy shit.
Roshi is like the only character doesn't need power level to be strong,he just need training his skill and he can beat a lot of T.O.P fighters by using only skill, not pure power
It's been a while since I read the original Dragonball, but isn't it not that he COULDN'T but the fact that he REFUSES to do so because it was invented by his rival?
"Hard" by FighterZ' player's standards. He's basically a BlazBlue or Under-Night character, lol. EDIT: YES, MAX GETS IT. ROSHI IS HOW FIGHTERZ AS A WHOLE SHOULDA BEEN
Roshi is honestly a prime example of how I wanted DB fighterz to act. Its that stunning presentation mixed with difficult yet flashy combos that have that major dragon ball flair to them. Master Roshi is just so jam packed with amazing looking moves and references that if in a possible game that the characters are given the same treatment.... well.... I think it would legitimately be an amazing fighting game both in its looks and its actual fighting~
Not every character should be as complex as Roshi tho. Dragon Ball is a super casual mainstream anime and most fans have trouble even doing tech in Xenoverse 2, I can’t imagine how they would react if EVERY character was difficult to pick up, difficult to master. We definitely need more characters like him tho for the more tech players, Zamasu is pretty close imo. Moro would be a awesome tech character
I disagree in making every character this technical. As guy above me said, for the IP of dragon ball it wouldn't make any sense. I would like a wider array of difficulties, but frankly speaking, the gameplay in fighterz is just fine. Taking away the complexity of needing to specialize a character, and giving complexity on mobility, neutral, and decision making that you would expect from a fighting game.
Looks like Roshi can definitely hold his own if he was the last man standing on his team. Or even as a starter. It's just someone you have to discover in the lab. And from what I'm seeing, he's going to be a pain to deal with, but a blast to use. He may even be the best human character compared to Krillin, Yamcha, and Tien. But that's expected, since after all...he is the Master.
From someone who can barely hit chain combos in SFV, this is like watching a veritable god at work. Holy smokes, good freakin stuff Max! You blow my socks off every time!
Watching Max learning a character is so entertaining, he tries to figure out a way to use every possible tool a character has, compared to channels that play Fighterz every single day and only implement the same two/three routes that immediately work and do the same thing every match it's a breath of fresh air
@@wesamshaabna2916 I watch a lot of Fighterz matches, and most people use a third of the tools their mains have, and that's fine, it's functional I guess, but it's way more fun when Max figures out a way to use the entire movesets of a character. No idea why you got mad at me for that, honestly
I'm so glad a game like this can finally convey how legitimately powerful Roshi is for a human. Too many casual viewers think he's just a pervy old man, but the guy can hold his own.
Roshi looks fun to play as. I'll be saving up money, get me a PlayStation Store card and purchase and download this old timer and the rest of the DBFZ characters into the game.
Damn! I sill have a hard time with the timings of this game. Max masters a character so damn fast! It'd take me a year to figue out that sort of shit. Lol.
Don’t care how tricky he is I’m mailing him for sure I love Roshi as a character and while I’m not a fan of FighterZ for how casual and accessible it is I’m in love with his move set. This game desperately needed a character that actually takes time, effort, and skill to learn how to play! 🐢
I refuse to buy the game until Hercule Satan is put in. I don't CARE how little sense it makes or how weak he is, I main Dan Hibiki for a reason. Everyone loves an underdog.
idk why ppl say he's so hard to play. Not having a super dash is weird, but I feel like after a lil practice, you get used to it. So much so, that you use it to your advantage. I love faking like I'm gonna do a kamehameha dash and instead going backwards and actually hitting them with the kamehameha lol. As far as the rest of his moves, he has so many good tools to use and good assists as well. I can't really complain.
Lore wise. Because back in dragon ball he was co-student/Rival to Master Shen ( Tein's teacher and Mercenary Tao brother) It was Master Shen who first figures out how to fly on earth. Roshi swore never to use any technique made by/used by his Rival. Due to bad blood plus bad circumstances in Roshi's and Shen's master death sealing King Piccolo.( Master Mutaito created the Evil containment wave aka get in the jar)
