I've been asked at the beginning of the video "What's wrong with Hunters? Well....
Hunters hunting for food? Nothing. I've hunted for food myself.
Hunting to control the population? Understandable.
Hunters hunting for fun? Depends. A couple years ago while hiking April and I found 11 deer piled up in Wharton that were all shot and were only missing their heads. Not sure what kind of "hunting" that was. And as Butch Brown also pointed out... "They help control the population to prevent the spreading of diseases and overeating areas causing starvation. The taxes the hunters pay to the state through license fees, taxes on firearms, ammo, and all things hunting-related go to the purchase and preservation of these areas."
So My short answer is there is nothing wrong with hunters.

The main reason its deadly is because without minerals in water its less buoyant. So its harder to swim then regular lakes. Also, the shelf around edge collapses occasionally. So people standing in 1 foot of water are suddenly in 25 ft of water. Couple teens and numerous adults have died. Stay away, hefty fine if busted.

We had to bring more camera gear to try to get the beauty of this place. It's like a hidden gem in the rough. Most of the people that live near it didn't even know it is back there. Yellowstone is another of our favorites. I just wished they would have let me fly the drone above the geysers and holes. We're making our plans for this year's adventures. Starting this weekend. @LivingFree365 2 месяца назад
Thank you for the comment! That is true, A lot of them are on private property. I've read about people going in the water for a walk or a swim and not coming back out, not because of the water itself, but the sand falling from underneath them and pulling them down. They are as deadly as they are beautiful.
@caperformance_motorsports
@caperformance_motorsports 2 года назад
Please people don’t swim in these blue holes !!! Every body of water has currents , tides and an under toe . Lots of these places have mining equipment and even pipes and ventilation shafts under the water you can’t see .. and watch out for quick sand it’s no joke . I’ve personally had to dive into a quarry that looked just like this to recover a 7 year old boy who’s shirt got caught on a piece of piping 40+ feet under water after jumping in the quarry a few hours before and never surfacing .. not uncommon for them to find some of the swimmers for weeks , sometimes months in some of these places .. Beautiful but dangerous just wait til summer when idiots destroy it partying and leaving trash everywhere

Bahamas of New Jersey ain’t never heard that term before growing up here I like it it’s pretty neat. The blue water is from the lime stone that sits about 600 to 700 feet below the surface I was told growing up and is the natural color of the water in South Jersey not the black water that most people see. That water is from the cedar trees and that’s why it looks like tea. Scuba diving in these blue Lakes is very good they have excellent invisibility. Word of caution. do not take your vehicle too close to the edge of these lakes they have a very steep drop off and there has been vehicles lost in them over the years from the sand giving away around the banks.

There are a bunch of these mines around south jersey. The water is over 300 feet deep in certain areas. You can read the public filings from heritage mining company. They mined monazite a radioactive mineral, titanium, and other minerals here. The site was considered a hazardous waste site by the dep and nuclear regulatory commission. There’s a lot of awesome info on these mines. Some of them are still active like the one in west creek. They use a dredge to bring the material up from so far down below the waters surface. Really cool stuff.

It is part of the Menantico Ponds Fish and Wildlife Management Area (So it is public). Most people don't like to come to these kinds of places because they would have to leave their air-conditioned vehicles and walk a distance. Not a lot of people can stand the biting flies that protect the woods surrounding this place. A lot of people do swim here, though, I wouldn't recommend it. It is very dangerous to swim here as stated in the video.

@@KarateCombatExclusive Menantico Ponds Fish and Wildlife Management Area. It's a long gravel driveway into the woods, once you get the the end and park go left along the train tracks from the direction you pulled in and keep walking until you start coming close to the first decent size lake if you're tracking your progress on something like google maps. Then start looking for trails into the woods on the left side, there's a couple that will lead there so its hard to give exact directions from this point but basically make sure you're heading pretty much towards that lake from the tracks and you'll find it, if you hit a dead end I do remember that the path right next to it leads to the lake area. You can either head left near the more shallow sandy part of the lake or keep going down the tracks a little further until you're closer to the deeper bluer part of the lake, I find that side prettier but its all cool. Hope this is helpful, just ask if you need any more clarification and I'll see if I can oblige.

I love your ariel drone footage. I am a producer of low budget, independent movies. I'm shooting a horror movie in the pine barrens this summer and would love to use some of your footage if you're interested. Please let me know, and I will also give you credit in the movie as well as on imdb. Thanks! 🎥

Thank you for the correction. The Bahamas of New Jersey is just what we were calling it. But, According to the NJ Fish and Wildlife Management the "Blue Hole" is actually located in the Windlow Fish and Wildlife Management Area off of Piney Hollow Rd. GPS Coordinates 39.626536, -74.895450 20 miles north of this location. Cheers!😁

For pheasant hunting one would need a clearing right? I'm not sure cause I've never hunted for pheasants before. These woods are very dense with brush and trees.

Pheasant hunting is done in open fields, not heavily wooded areas. Yes they are deer huntingand its not 5 acres as said, it is actually thousands of acres broken only by roads

@LAinMotion09
@LAinMotion09 3 года назад
Why is it dangerous? Just curious
@LivingFree365
@LivingFree365 3 года назад
@@LAinMotion09 Thank you for the question. It can be dangerous mostly due to the sudden dropoffs. While walking in the water, the sand can shift and drop causing someone to be pulled down very fast. In the ariel views you can see where the shore dissappears in the water. That's where is can get very deep very fast. The sight was once a quarry and the sudden drop in the water temperature can cause muscles to suddenly weaken; it can also cause shock and even hypothermia. These are just a couple things that can cause it to be dangerous. People and animals do swim there and have for years. So, I don't think the quality of the water is an issue. Some people say "the water is bad because of the color" but, The water molecules absorb all the red wavelengths from the light, making it reflect blue. Just like the ocean does. Sorry for the long version. Hope the info helps. Cheers! Shu.

What's wrong with hunters?
@LivingFree365
@LivingFree365 3 года назад
Hunters hunting for food? Nothing. I've hunted for food myself. Hunting to control population? Understandable. Hunters hunting for fun? Depends. A couple years ago while hiking April and I found 11 deer piled up in Wharton that were all shot and were only missing their heads. Not sure what kind of "hunting" that was.
@butchbrown5283
@butchbrown5283 3 года назад
Nothing wrong with them. They help control the population to prevent spreading of diseases and over eating areas causing starvation. The taxes the hunters pay to the state through license fees, taxes on firearms, ammo, and all thing hunting related goes to the purchase and preservation of these areas.
@LivingFree365

Private property bud. And you worried about hunters
@LivingFree365
@LivingFree365 3 года назад
Private Property? Who's? The Atlantic City Electric Company owned it as well as the orchard. They donated the strip mine to the state which became part of the Menantico Ponds Wildlife Area by having the land deeded to the state. Which now connects Menantico Ponds Wildlife Area to Peaslee Wildlife Mgmt Area. Unless I am mistaken then I would like to ask. Who would the land belong to?

@LivingFree365 if this is the place I think it is, which I’m pretty certain it is especially since you mentioned the electric company than I believe Megan’s grandfather owns this. He use to own all of it however he only owns part or parts of it as of now . I’m going to share this video to her now and find out.

@@gregpeacheysr4738 Cool, Thank you. I've been wondering myself. I read an article about how Vineland wasn't happy that a lot of the land was turned over to the state ( back, water half) because it can be used as future commercial property which would have increased the tax revenue for Vineland. Any info would be helpful so I can update the description with accurate information.

I grew up and still have family living on Rt 49 across the street from that area. The owner of the one sandplant was a close family friend. The one closer to 49 was owned by Wolfe, he was also the person who started the Holly Farm. The one you were at was owned by Bivens, then his son in law Shaw, he was the family friend. Wolfe closed and the ground was sold to AC electric who built the current "Holly House" to replace the original and they installed the generating station down the road. Then it was sold to a group of investers, with the exception of the generating staion , who had plans for housing and a golf course. They had varied proposals through the years with nothing coming of it. It was sold in the past year to the State and attached to the Menantico Ponds area. Shaws plant was sold to Unimen and continued in operation for years. They closed when the better sand was mined out and better sand was found in the Mauricetown/Newport area. They sold that area to the Nature Conservacy who presently owns it. The entire area is within Millville and Maurice River Township. No part of that area is in or near Vineland. You missed the Fries Mills ruins which is right after the train trestle crossing the Manumuskin stream. They are the remains of a small village that was a saw mill from around 1800. Another entrance would be Rt55 to Schooner Landing road. Take the exit, make a left over the overpass and the road ends. That was the entrance to the area you were in. Park at the gate and walk in from there, that would put you closer to the ponds.
