the air is so polluted you feel the smoke of cars even on top of the mountain-Babele in Bucegi. Everywhere is a heavy smoke from old car carburators and everywhere people a smoking so you have plently of second hand cigaretes smoke.Good lock!

I don't disagree with you but in a country where the average monthly salary is 200 euros (average rent for 2 bed flat is 150 euros but when you add utilities you are looking at about 280 euros a month), you can imagine that people will do just about anything to survive. Milk is actually more expensive than in the US and so is most meat, I don't know how they survive. I can't judge anymore after my visit there, lets just say that I got a good dose of reality and let me tell you, their reality sucks...

what can we do???? our rangers are not equipped with guns! last year several were killed by poachers! inside reservations, they cut down such old fir trees! I've seen it with my eyes! these are dangerous people, they are not afraid to kill! and they are hand in hand with politicians. in Romania, we have a saying: fish spoils from its head! starting with president Iohannis, and other politicians, they are deep into this destroying of Romania's forests. there is an Austrian large company that cuts down Romania! and many others! a Romanian took pictures of trucks loaded with wood, large logs, in a reservation, and went to the Police and filled a complaint! guess what!? he got fined! it seems they "had" "papers" (maybe money papers inside someone's pockets) for that wood cut down in a reservation! Police is also very corrupt! I also filled a complaint in my life, for forging signatures. can you imagine a table with very tiny cases, where not even one signature even touched the lines of the boxes? 44 signatures? it was a fake table, for putting a mobile must on a block of flats! they said it was not forged, the police! and I got fined, symbolically, so that I would know next time that any efforts are in vain! can you imagine?! such small boxes, and not even one signature touching any line? YES, that is Romanian police!!!!! Romanians in general are good people, intelligent, hard working, just, but we have a cancer in our country: all the political system, and key institutions! it seems like someone wants to destroy Romania and Romanians, and rip Romania off all it's riches, no matter the cost on nature!

Romania's nature will be gone in 10 years if Romanians like you don't stand up against their government that is cutting down all the trees or allowing it at least. That's a fact. You'd do more justice to your country by doing that than bragging about how it still is these days and complaining about influences from foreign countries. It's a shame how many words you've spilled, but how little you've done for your country in that perspect. I presume that's the truth.

Clark Orion you really believe small people like me have any kind of power here? honestly? you must be lost somewhere very far in dream land. people who really want to change something are being put in the garbage disposal of society and will never be allowed to make any changes. you really don't know how things work around here, only a few who by some miracle infiltrated and manage to see with their own eyes the truth are now trying to change something but again... you have no idea how insignificant small poor people are around here. even writing what i wrote here can be risky, you really believe we live in a free world? free to say what we think and express what we think but as the song goes... it's all dust in the wind.

Clark Orion and believe me , even i have plenty of solutions in my head and i would be able to create a society based on truism and encouraging people from here and from around the world to preserve nature and the beauty it still has. i would love to expand and gather people from around the world to come see and visit these places but these dreams are pure fiction. the real world will consume you and your ideals and always there will be another group who will feel threatened by you and your ideas and will shut you down before you even manage to get things going.

Alex Mistery Modern Romania gives me hope that it IS possible to have both: beautiful wilderness AND economic growth. Romania's economy is small but growing, it has modern high-tech cities, and it's people are young, smart and well-educated. In places like America, we almost whipped out our wilderness in the rush to industrialize, driving animals to extinction and almost doing the same thing to the Native Americans. We see China ruthlessly destroying it's past for the sake of modernization. I hope Romania manages to avoid these mistakes. There has to be a way for a flourishing modern democracy to ALSO have room for wild places, ancient castles and towns, culture and art, and thousands of years of history.

I am so glad to hear that :) Some ppl still think of Eastern Europe as some dark place because their connection with the communist era. But I can guarantee there is no place in the Western world that preserves their traditions and their ancestral heritage this well. I am really happy to live in the East myself, and very proud. And even the traces of the communist past are intriguing to some westerners and fascinating in their own way. ( oh I forgot about the good food, beautiful women and fast internet haha)

i want to come here so much...but i dont know anyone local..i dont want to ended up joining the tour..i like to wander around with the local and stay with the local people in a country side..doing farming and agriculture..i dont mind paying. do u have anyone that i could trust. i will travel alone approx will be there in early June.

Europe had a hugely hard time keeping its bear population alive and well, thanks to such mass industrialization in such highly dense areas, not to mention Europe has been at war with eachother for hundreds of centuries, and only recently has had a long period of peace, now broken by russia.
