'Discrimination Against Asian-Americans Is Wrong - Yes Or Now?': Hawley Grills Biden Nominee 

Legend has it she is still thanking the Senator for his question

She hesitates to answer the question directly for one obvious reason: she supports discrimination against Asian Americans. Like many similarly minded Americans, they are not actually against racial discrimination at all, they are against certain types of racial discrimination.

Change “Asian” to Black” in the question and I’m sure she’ll have no problem answering it then.

The fact that she cannot answer a “yes” or “no” on such a simple questions really shows her true colors. If someone else was up there dodging “Is discriminating against African-Americans wrong?” they would be called racist, yet she is still a judicial nominee…

Her between the lines is…. “Asians must be discriminated against otherwise I would not have been able to get accepted into university or Law School (period).” An ugly truth for her but truth nevertheless.

It’s pretty telling that she refuses to simply answer “yes” to the point blank question of “is discrimination against Asian Americans wrong?”

If it was black and latino students had to jump through those hoops I'd bet my next check she'd be more full throated in opposing discrimination.

Yes, she wants to make entrance exams harder for Asian Americans. But lower it for African Americans. And they don't believe that's discrimination.

She should be cancelled for racism against Asians.

Imagine being not able to answer a question where you only have to say 'yes that's wrong.'

When you ask a FJB nominee a Yes or No question on their own writing .....they go blank as their careers flash before their eyes...😳

Let me interpret her answer: "discrimination against other groups, to the benefit of African Americans sounds great". They're not for equality and never have been. It's about advancing their own group at the expense of others, period.

This woman said discrimination is prohibited, when asked if discrimination against Asian Americans is wrong. That tells me she believes discrimination isn’t always wrong and can be acceptable depending on who is discriminated against and who is doing the discriminating

Never once did she even answer an otherwise simplest and most straightforward question. That answered everything.

I'm so glad that light is being shone on this issue once again today. I'm Asian and I have an 8th grader. My kid had never gotten a grade lower than an A ever. She has a great work ethic. Never does anything until her school work is done, and she always over-prepares. She's always so proud to tell us how well she did in school. In about five years she will be applying to colleges. After seeing her work hard almost every day her entire school life, I would be devastated if she doesn't get in to the college of her choice simply because they've already got "too many Asians.". Or worse, hear the school diminishes all her hard work because she's Asian. Straight As? But she's Asian.

This is a hard-hitting piece that reveals a side to this nominee that many would prefer to see hidden. Kudos to Forbes for posting it. It's kind of crazy how she can't even agree with the idea that discrimination against asians is wrong!

By dodging the question at all costs, she’s unintentionally exposing herself and letting out her true intentions and beliefs on this matter for all to see. Not sure if she realizes that or not lol

"Senator, thank you for the question, the courts findings along with its opinion on this matter have been explicitly made clear with respect to their stance on the matter and the court believes these findings to be rooted in self evident information." "so thats a yes?" "Senator, thank you for the question, as to whether or not the validity of my previous statement can be verified, this would be a matter that the court would have to look into and investigate as to whether or not in fact that information can be made available or if it accessible or not." What is the point of these hearings? Nobody gives straight answers, nobody stands behind what they say, nobody can be trusted. Just a waste of taxpayer money.

If you ask someone if it's wrong to discriminate against a group of people and their answer is "It's prohibited" you know you can't trust them.

I wonder how she’d respond if Sen. Hawley asked if murder was wrong. “Murder is… illegal.”

I had a friend growing up 2350 SAT, top 1000 tennis player in the state, violinist, ranked 6th gpa in a school of close to a thousand graduating class, president of like 6 different clubs. He told me he only slept four hours a night to do it all. Every school he wanted to get into rejected him. He wasn't the only one. Many of my friends in the prime of their youth dedicated everything to achieving their dream school, and to be denied because of their race, I think was one of the most damaging psychological things that happened to them.

As soon as someone starts off with "thank you for your question", you know they're gonna follow up with some absolute BS.

She is saying: discrimination against Asian is not racism and not anti diversity.

Asian are not under her protected category , they are under the targeted category , it’s dangerous for us as a nation to send the message that your hard work doesn’t matter.

My friend's niece graduated top of her class in a private school and was denied admission to UC and CalState universities because she is Asian. It worked out for her in the end as she got a full ride to a prestigious engineering university in New York (RPI). Nonetheless, the poor girl cried for days and tasted her first reality in life that good things don't always come to those that work hard. This country is going down the toilet at this rate.

As a Vietnamese who came to the US in 1975…..academic discrimination was ALL I see throughout my Highschool & College years. I could NOT signed up for Scholarships because I was told by my High School councilor that I am Asian! Most scholarships were for blacks because they were intellectually handicapped!!

It's like if she said she believed that 'All Lives Matter' but could not utter the words 'Black Lives Matter'. That means she does not believe either is true, because the latter is subsumed in the former. She does not believe that discrimination against Asian-Americans is wrong, and she does not believe that discrimination against any ethnic group is wrong - she believes discrimination against ethnic groups is correct and good, and it's just a matter of picking and choosing.

Whenever you hear about a federal judge signing a warrant, remember that ideologues like this nominee sit on the bench before you decide that it must have been fair.

Any person who holds a degree in law and has been admitted to the bar had to, by default, work hard to get there no matter the color of their skin or race. What this woman is advocating is that people who worked just as hard, or harder, than her should be discriminated against in favor of those who saw fit to not work as hard. Hard work is supposed to be rewarded in this country. She is opposed to that philosophy, as are all the people in favor of affirmative action. By no longer citing past racism as the defining reason for AA and using "diversity" instead, they are basically trying to make AA a permanent fixture.

The America that I remembered....building a successful career and nominate candidates based on by merit and I learned those philosophy from the US education system. My highest respect to Sen. Hawley.

Why is it when people are questioned by the Senate Judiciary Committee, you never ever get a straight answer out of them.

I'm not for voting anyone into a lifetime appt. if a simple yes or no question stumps them! The senate isn't judging you on how well you can dance around a question. All they want are truthful answers. Seems pretty simple unless you have something to hide or agenda to folliow!

Yes I’m Asian and I’m from Hawaii!!! Born and raised!!! My husband is white, and I have many Black friends who have kids my kids age. I’m happy that their kids have so many scholarships and opportunities, but yes it’s not fair that we have to give up so much to send our kids through college! We make the same amount of money, our kids are all academically compatible ( my daughter is in med school, 2nd yr with a Masters and completing another at the same time as her MD), but we’ve taken out loans, stopped taking vacations, and basically budget out every dollar we make. Where as, our friends are vacationing every yr, eat out at fancy restaurants etc. I’m not jealous or love that they are enjoying their lives, but it stinks that we are not afforded the same opportunities.

I am 89 yo Latino and remember Japanese students in HS just after WW2 when they were released from concentration camps. They were wonderful in every respect ... decent, hardworking, low keyed scholars and always acted with adult dignity.... never complained about bad treatment. I have worked for a number of Asian bosses and all of them were wonderful.... they made great role models and I benefitted from their mentoring me. Asian students who Excell academically should NOT be discriminated against in any way. If universities became all Asians because of intellect and hard work...so be it! Humanity would gain. Everyone else who wants to Excell, follow the Asians examples of scholarship ... work , think, work, think, , work..and do not whine .... .
