The addition of a microscope has proved extremely enlightening in revealing whats actually going on in this aquarium (video to follow).
After the Fluke Solve I havent found anything alive that looks nasty in the discus tank but I have found a large number of organisms. The trouble now is how to identify them. There is definitely something in there thats irritating the fish and causing problems. I think there is a fluke issue but there is also a worm or something which has been seen on the microscope.
The fluke eggs hatch in 3 days so with treatments a week apart I think they just come back and the fish behaviour would suggest this is the case.

That kind of video is really helpful, because it is in troubled times that we need the most help. Thank you for uploading it. In my case, I'm starting to think that I'm really in trouble, because I have a 375 liters planted discus tank, with a lot substrate and plants and I got 6 discus. Just one of them is with one guill closed and the other is breathing rapidly. The others discus are breathing fine and feeding fine, but from time to time I see some of them flickering. Omg, I barely started keeping discus, I've been with them for about one month!!

I feel you brother it’s a constant battle mate I use absolute every water change and fluke solve ever 3 months. I think you will never get rid of parasites apart from keep them down. Most other fish can deal with parasites but discus don’t

Yes I think its seemingly unrealistic to think a parasite free tank is possible. Seems the meds are quite able to get rid of all the nasties.

Hey just wanted to say thanks for your videos. My first time keeping discus, today saw one only breathing out one gill and one sulking and rubbing himself on the wood in my tank. Thanks to you I had some fluke treatment in stock and i was straight in there, everyone now happy and begging for food again.

Fantastic, definitely recommend treating them again in 7 days time. But always have some as it can go bad really quick. Thanks for that you've made my day.

Hello firstly I love your video shorts they have truly inspired me. I’d like to ask how do you keep your yellows from turning orange? I’ve tried so many different foods and although my discus will eat anything I put in their tank I can’t seem to find the right food for the job. I’ve stopped feeding color enhancing flakes but I fear it maybe too late for my yellow Marlboro and yellow pb they are now blood orange and started out as yellow as an emoji.😬What do you recommend as far as a staple pellet food? Grateful for any info you can give thanks!

Its a big issue, avoid any foods with astaxanthan, check the ingredients carefully. Also krill or krill meal can colour red I believe. Ive been feeding black worm granules and Ive got some sera immun pro on the way which I believe is free from added colours.

how come you did a double dose of fluke solve? how did you know that was safe? also, how do you know how much treatment to re-add after a water change? are you adding different meds after 1 week intervals or after a water change? have you added any salt also. sorry lots of Questions, im going through same issues, im following your method by taking all sand and wood and rocks out. i dosed a single dose of fluke solve last night not sure when to dose again or how long fluke solve will last in the water.

Ive got some expert advice and as fluke solve is 50% praziquantel they recommend doing a double dose. My first question was can they not over dose but they said it needs to be extremely high to effect the fish badly. The double dose had the best effect. Praziquantel is design to stay in the aquarium for 30 days but the filters effect it and the temperature speeds that up so its difficult to say what concentration remains for how long. I havent added any salt. Ill give the fluke solve 6 weeks and then decide what to do next. I havent seen any evidence of flukes for a week. These are due one more dose of the 6.

@@discus.switch do you add another dose of prazi after a waterchange? did you see any change within the first 24 hours of a single dose of fluke solve?

also ive been speaking with pond guru had a nice chat with him regarding the benefits of minerals coming from leafs, bog wood and other botanicals. he said they will be alot of good minerals leaching out for the discus. im going to give it a try soon after the treatment has run its course.
