Sharing what I have learnt from successfully switching to Discus fish from a standard tropical aquarium. Theres a lot of bad info out there. Im finding out what works for these beautiful aquarium fish by testing and observing and sharing what I have found.
I'd only keep discus fish if i had a huuuge aquarium. Anything else is just bad for the poor fish. Imagine you can't live anywhere outside of your little room
I've been searching for a long time and am getting 210 gallon for wild angels and discus. Basically everything you said in this video is in my plans! It's going to be lots of money, but I'll take lot's of obstacles out of my way. Sump is a must! Canisters are so small and can fail big time! I basically do a 5 galllon water change every day filter feeding to export uneaten food. That is my normal practice and I don't even count that as maintenance. But because of that, my weekly water changes are about 40-50%. That is for 75gallon system with 10 young Altum angels, which many discus breeders consider much harder to keep than discus. Will keep the schedule with the 210 s they grow and add the discus from the same source. That is the very best. There is absolutely no way to escape from maintenance!!!! Cheers!
I'm planning my tank (size is depentant on my lottery win size) I noticed you have a blue background. I plan on having a black one to help the fish colours pop out a bit more. Although most of the back will be heavily planted. Peace.
I want to keep bare bottom tank for discus is it necessary to place white or black paper under tank so that discus fish can't see himself in bottom glass. I hv glow tetra so I can't put paper under tank now what I can do.
Dear I hv glow tetra and tiger barbs in 80 gal tank with 10 gal sump filter total 90 gal tank. Can I add discus in same tank with Glow Tetra and Tiger barbs. My tank is open from top so discus can jump out or not.
