@@kellymartz8925 Arete has good tips but information, like the full technique, is locked behind a paywall. It's really more of a channel advertising his TCR system. Also, the TCR system sucks for athletes. It's good for coaches since it has alot of technical analysis, but it's wayy too much information for an athlete to handle at once.
This is PERFECT!!!! The whole segment about staying on your left side and rotating with your heel first is lining up with what my coach said at my last practice! I’ve searched for throwing videos for forever but this is definitely a hidden gem I’m lucky I found! Thanks a billion!!!! 😊
I love that you share your journey and the difficulties that you encounter and that all throwers will encounter. There are otrhers on youtube that teach, but they are not actually throwers per say. You are a genuine thrower on the journey sharing the best of what you have and are learning. Hats off to you!
I'm 14 this year and I starter doing discus when I was 12 but I never took it seriously cuz I was doing it for fun and I did it with my friends and the 2 coaches I had in these years couldn't teach me to to the full spin cuz I'm left so I have only done the first posistion and I throw 26m with a 1 kg with the first posistion and I thought I would never be able to do the full spin cuz my previous coaches couldn't teach me so I have decided to use RU-vid as my coach and teach myself and so far you have been a tremendous amount of help so thank you so much I will recommend you to every left discus thrower who is struggling to learn to throw because of their coach ❤
man, I thought I was cool back in high school for being the only one on my team who was good and consistent enough with the full discus spin to use it during meets, but this shit is a whole different level
I'm self taught cause my school sucks and didn't have a coach for discus and I've been throwing for a month just learning by looking at people throw at meets and feel and I'm at 95ft...sadly I'm going into my senior year and just discovered discus near the end of my junior year in track because I was stuck on sprints. I'll be using your tips and technique to hopefully train for the next 9 months till next season and double my distance. Since school is over now I'll be practicing only like before but just at a park since the nearest public track with a discus part of the field is like 40 mins away... thanks for the video too I've been struggling with the proper form for the whole spin. Maybe for the next video if you want to you can talk about the muscles needed to throw farther and some workouts you do to build up your strength
Hey Xander! I understand what it's like to not have a coach. I didn't have a coach for most of my throwing career, but you can throw far and reach your goals if you continue to practice and put energy into mastering the sport. Best wishes in your training! 💪
The best video of all time...regarding to the technique...keep posting sir✌🦸♂️...i need to know about switching feet at the end of the throw and why do they use that technique.. please make a video on it
Loved the video and your clear explanation as well as demonstration! Having taught martial arts for 30 years, finding an excellent athlete who is also a great teacher isn't always easy. You sir, are one of the talented teachers with the ability to break it down for beginners and I'm sure you have much to offer to even the most experienced throwers. Having recently had the pleasure of watching women's discus throw at the 2019 National Senior Games, I became inspired to start training for discus (and javelin) events. I'd be in the Women's 65-69 category. Again many thanks (and yes, I've subscribed to your channel)!
I'm a Japanese high school student. I can not fly the disc more than 35m... I would like you to see my throwing form. I wrote this sentence using the translation app.
Hey I was just wondering if you could give me a link or something for Nike throwing shoes as I live in Australia and it is incredibly hard for me to find any throwing shoes, thanks
Man, I wish RU-vid was around when I competed. This helps a lot with the breakdown. I was thinking of getting into helping out at my local high school with assistant coaching and getting backing to the swing of it with these videos. This is really helping me remember the love of the sport (it’s been several years)💫✨
Here are two videos that answer your question: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MKtGtAtNMas.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y9cb6pTFidY.html
I threw 101 at a meet like 3 weeks ago now I'm struggling to get over 60 when I spin. I don't know what happened but I can power throw further 3 days till sectionals and I don't know what to do.
Hey, if it's going out of the sector try getting a better grip of the discus and releasing it a bit later. Usually you either have a weak grip so it slips out or you just release too early/late.
Great question man! Usually we throw out the sector because we’re not using our legs. Work on keeping your hips under you and turning your back foot all the way until the discus comes out of your hand. This forces you to use your legs! Just keep working on it and you’ll figure it out 💪
I'm 85 yo and once threw against Al Order in 1956. I hope hope to compete in the Keystone Senior Games next summer. I'm having difficulty spinning. Should I stick to just doing the standing throw?
Hey there, good question! Height does not change your ability to improve in discus. At 174 cm you are able to to 50 meters or more. Distance depends more on your technique and strength. 💪 You got this!
