Disengaging from Your Roles Makes You Better in Your Roles 

Spirituality is about identifying with some unnameable background essential you--your greater self, your awareness, your Soul, Atman, or whatever you want to call it. This means you are not your roles--father, mother, son, daughter, engineer, or even "spiritual person."
Paradoxically, I've found this disengagement from my roles has made me better at my roles.
