They are two types during the killing. The ones who express their anger for David and cheering and the ones who express their empathy for Ellie and they crying, understanding how much trauma is this causing to her. When I was playing the game, at this scene, I couldn't see the screen from the tears.
I've noticed that while some people start out cheering, because of Bella's stellar performance and the length of the scene, most end up realizing how traumatic the situation truly is and they transition from cheering to shocked.
@otohime8516 Feel you. I could kind of handle the scene in the game but in the show David intentions are much more straight forward. I looked away and covered my ears during this scene and made my boyfriend tell me when it was over when i originally watched the show. Wasn't prepared for that😅
that is the first thing i thought too!! him praising the outbreak and giving him the opportunity to act on his desires and wants. so gross. and who is to say he didn't before the outbreak. *shudders
From what I remember, It's almost the same in the game. Joel arrives after Ellie kills David. The only difference is that in the show Ellie and Joel reunite out in the snow.
That part is no different in the game. Ellie saves herself and kills David all by herself. Joel doesn’t help her in anyway in either the game or the show in terms of saving her or killing David.
@@keagankrossman the major differance in the game is that your playing as joel and it intercuts with Ellies sections so you dont know when joel is going to show up. it adds a shit load of tension to the scene. obviously the TV show and the game are two differant experiences but for someone that experienced the game first nearly a decade ago, that sequence was insane how unpredictable it was. you think its going to be the stereotypical hero saves the day everyones fine in the end type of deal but instead Ellie kills david and Joel arrives just a little too late. what they ended up adapting in the show however is excellent and the actor who portrays david either got direction or studied Nolan North's notes on the character. he nails the same creepiness people felt 10 years ago playing through it
It's actually a bible quote, John 4:18. The full verse says: "THERE IS NO FEAR IN LOVE, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." The same man cherry-picking and twisting that quote for his own sick purposes also backhands little girls as punishment for speaking out of turn as their so-called "father," dishing out fear among his community until it warps into love by name only. There have been many fucked up people twisting noble ideas to suit their own sick, sick worldviews over the centuries, if not millennia, including the Bible.
Bill, a good man in a loving relationship: “I was never afraid before you showed up.” David, a groomer trying to SA a child: “There’s no fear in love.”

genuinely pissed off when people were happy she was killing him like the kid was traumatized. That bastard deserved to die but she didn't deserve to kill someone like that she just a kid.
If you watched the HBO pod cast you will know why they did the last bit a bit different, it was because the doors were locked and David had the keys to the restaurant they were in ,.
I'm still don't understand what is the part "the fighting is the part i like the most" true mean? Thanks a lot for explain to me, i' m not good in english =))
David is about to rape Ellie, but he likes it when they fight back. That is why he was so into her right from the spot, he saw a 14 girl full of fighting spirit with the wiliness to survive.
I absolutely love that they kept it the same as in the game where Ellie kills David and saves herself. Even here, everyone was waiting for Joel to save her, so it was nice to have it go a way they weren't expecting.
Bro be careful because show fanboys are gonna kill you for this opinion. You're right no offense to the guy playing David in the show but David in the game was much creepier
i think they are on par. I loved that Nolan North read the character and took it and said "i'm gonna make him as nice as possible" and he did and it makes the later scenes hit so much harder. its clear they took inspiration form Nolan North's interpretation here with the show and ran with it. The actor being able to adapt it the way he did and keep that same philosophy isn't something to sneeze at. theres bits in the show i could say are better then the game, and vice versa the other way around enough that i'm satisfied with both portrayals.
