Is your Dishwasher really noisy when it operates? It can be REALLY annoying, and even force you to run your dishwasher at night or when nobody is around! One option to fix this is to buy a "whisper quiet" dishwasher, and hope that it runs as advertised. But if you don't want to shell out the cash it'll cost you to buy one of these modern dishwashers, there are also some soundproofing options that you have!
This video will show you how to soundproof your current dishwasher, with just a few items that you can buy cheap, or you probably already have around the house!

My 10 yr old Bosch was too expensive to repair so I bought a $400 frigidaire. kept the jute blanket and used Peal & Seal roofing product to insulate the plastic housing

If it's the same model as this, is it as quiet as your Bosch now that you insulated it? My new Bosch 100 runs at 60 DB at 3 ft. Not happy, going to return it to Costco for this Frigidaire at $300 less

@@nvjohansson9741 I think it's quieter actually. My frigidaire is the same model or very close to it. I did not add the moving blanket to it though, just the jute insulation from the Bosch that I tossed and teh peel & stick roofing material. Super happy with it for the money. Maybe took me an hour to do it.

What are the sound peel-and-stick rubberized coating and the sound-deadening material you used? And wouldn't packing tape dry out over time?

Is there any risk with humidity to have thst extra swaddling or eould that be fine in a normal kitchen?

Interesting video... tbh after all that insulation i was expecting the noise to drop even more... with my previous units a lot of noise also comes out of the bottom of the dishwasher ... there's usually a lil bit of sound deadening material behind the access panel... at some point though you have to sit back and ask how much the deadening material gonna cost if you don't have stuff handy :) I'm not a pro but was also wondering about any extra moisture buildup being now trapped nice job!

I was working on my dishwasher today and after reinstalling I tried to quiet it down. I noticed a majority of the noise came from the lower access panel area. I stuffed a heavy padded blanket under the toe kick area in front of the dishwasher and it decreased the noise significantly. Probably more than 10db. Not sure if I'll leave it there because I'm concerned with heat buildup.

Wonder if you'd get better results adding the deadening material to the inside of the door and that plus some insulation behind the toe kick (maybe a layer of sound deadening on the floor as well.

so. you did all that. and it dropped it only 10%. wow. So in conclusion, You can't soundproof your dishwasher that much.

6dB is a lot in terms of how much you can actually hear it. A $350 dishwasher makes about 55dB noise or so. A high end unit costing over $1000 will get you sub 50dB noise levels. Look up sound system bass competitions, people spend thousands to get a couple more decibels. I just replaced my older unit with a cheaper one, the old one was rated 53dB and the new one 55dB. I can definitely tell it's louder. Wanted the 44dB Bosch model but they wanted $1500 for it (yikes!)

Lol ever heard of amazon? If buying sound deadening adhesives is too much for you, better leave it to a tradesman.

He's right though. Most DIY help tutorials, at least the better ones, include links in the description for all the stuff needed that's shown in the video. If the average joe looking up these videos knew about Dynamat or whatever brand sound deadening mats they wouldn't need the DIY help to begin with. Not to mention that's stuff's expensive. Even the off brand is $60 assuming that's even enough to cover it all.
