Disney are DESPERATE, Jon Favreau’s STAR WARS intended to make us FORGET about Rey!?

I saw this, and was like: "Oh no; I'm not falling for this again!" I'm done.

At this point, so long as the words 'Kennedy' or 'Activist' is tied to Star Wars, nothing can restore the franchise. And, to be honest, there's an argument to be made about 'Disney' being attached to it as well.

If they did this before S3, and Jon had the level of creative control he needs and wasn't sabotaged by Filoni and Kennedy left and right, I would've jumped on this. But Jon made it clear he isn't being given the opportunities and means to make Star Wars for the fans again, and that his efforts will always be undermined by Kennedy, Disney, and the bureaucratic sycophants who hate Jon and George. Jon is not in control here, though, at least not like he was with Mando s1&2. Kennedy and Filoni are involved as producers, and I guarantee they're there to capitalize on his name and merit while giving him no room to actually make something fans will want. This has Iger running damage control all over it. I won't see this movie, because it's not Jon's movie. It's Iger's and Kennedy's movie. I'd advise everyone else to not see it for the same reasons, and to spread the word.

The problem is even WITHOUT Rey in the mix, Mandalorian is now nothing but a silly tease with "the child" basically being "the carrot" on "the stick". Not the best way to keep it going!

If this is true, Disney is realizing way too late how badly they've messed up Star Wars. Bringing back Jon Favreau, who is a great filmmaker and understands how Star Wars works, is their attempt to try to save the franchise and get back into the good graces of the fans.

Agreed. Star Wars is dead and we're just commiserating with these discussions. I recently met another SW fan and asked him what he thought of the Disney stuff. He said: oh Star Wars cannon ended with Return of the Jedi for me. 6 movies and a few novels. That's all that counts. The new stuff is nothing to do with it. Nuff said.

As long as Iger, Kennedy and Filoni are still at Disney, Lucas Film, my family and I are not watching another single Disney product. I will also be actively advising friends and family to pull support of the brand, as well as asking them to encourage their friends, coworkers, acquaintances, to boycott Disney and so on. Until the activism is gone, then we will be gone.

The damage is long done, as are fans of Star Wars, and with all KK's cancelled projects there's not even any reason to believe this will ever go into production. It's just smoke and mirrors to distract the media. Not the customer, not us, they couldn't care less about us.

So, this is my working theory, so far. Bob Iger dispatched some suits to reign in KK, they become horrified with what's going on with the Rey movie, Obaid-Chanoy hires some PR advisors , and then runs to CNN to play the woman card, to make the suits balk at firing her, and with machine like precision , years old clips of her emerge out of nothing, and now this Mando film gets floated around. I think Obaid-Chinoy will be fired , probably by the end of the month.

Until heads start rolling, apologies made, and everything produced under Disney's/Darth Menopause declared heresy and struck from canon, then everything Disney produces will remain fruit of the poisonous tree.

Disney Star Wars just can't stop itself from destroying any good-will or trust from the fans whenever they get any. The moment they get it, it's like they get super anxious to destroy it as fast as possible.

My reply would be simple: Not giving them a video of footage, not pirating their show or movies, and not reviewing it. Crying about it gives them Ad revenue.

Favreau has worn out all his good will. We WILL NOT forget his stellar work on Iron Man. Nor his subsequent works at Marvel. Seas 1 Mando was perhaps a small revelation. He has since given up on his man card and what appears to be his vision in favor of something else. Filoni road his coattails so he does NOT count at all. And then we all checked out.

It's a sad state of affairs when you know the only thing that can revitalize Star Wars are announcements not about new storylines or movies but around Lucas Film executive management getting booted

Canning S4 of Mandalorian, their most popular streaming show, to only do a movie is just admitting LF cannot do streaming. Under Kennedy at least. My prediction: The Mando movie will be a cost effective film somewhere in the 150-200 million range. If it's halfway successful (600-800 Million) John Favreau will be offered Kennedys role when her contract is up. Also Gina Carano will be offered her role back. If it tanks it also tanks his chances of running Lucasfilm. It will also be his last project for Disney if it fails. He'll go to WB or or do a Netflix original or something.

Code from corporate: Season 3 of the Mando didn't do what 'they' wanted, the stories 'we' wrote for Season 4 were all going to suck because we painted into ourselves into a corner, but - hey - 'we can write/produce two hours of Mando and Grogu that won't be terrible, right?!'

The only thing that would get me interested in Star Wars is if they took Kathleen Kennedy’s self insert (Rey) and treated her in the same way that George Lucas’ self insert (Luke) was treated. KK wanted to wipe out his legacy, humiliate him, and make him into a joke. Only fair the same thing happens to her. (Any ideas for such a film would be welcome in the replies)

KK's focus on Dave feels like a set up. She's trying to put Dave in the firing line so she can blame him for everything wrong with _Star Wars_ instead of taking any accountability herself.

During the last rew says before Christmas, i noticed that seasons 1 & 2 of The Mandalorian were being sold. I didn't want anything to do with it. Normally i would have been so excited that i would have gotten it right away, however, Mando has soured like GOT and i couldn't do it. When you damage a story so bad, no one wants to go through it again.

I liked Lost in Translation and the feature version of Aeon Flux, both which were directed by directrices and not by directors.

I think there's a small possibility that somewhere in the midst of "Lightyear", "Elemental", "Quantumania", "Love and Thunder", "The Marvels", "Dial of Destiny", and "Wish", someone in Disney may have finally recognized that the early complaints and criticism weren't just a small minority to be shrugged off in a media offensive- they were predictive of box-office results. And they're running out of nostalgia to burn to fuel their aspirations. Time will tell, but I would note that we haven't heard of the Waititi or Johnson Star Wars we were threatened with in a while, nor did "Blood and Bone" pan out. If it looks too risky, any number of things might mysteriously vanish from the slate- including the Obaid-Chinoy project.

Mandalorian has become the Bo show. He is now the third fiddle after Bo and grogu. The Obi Wan show became the Reeevaa show. The Arsesoaker show became the Sabine show. Arsesoaker was so arthritic and those few fight scenes were so sluggish and dyspraxic. Our expectations were so subverted we decided not to bother watching.

If this had come after season 2, then I would be excited for this...and I say this as someone who hasn't even seen season 3. The reason I say that is that season 2 set up so many cool characters and ended in such a cool way that I would be tempted to see what happens next. As it is, they've undone that ending and used up all the characters they had set up. Added to that, I hear season 3 is more "side quest" style stories? So not really a hook to lure people in to a movie is it.

I absolutely love the Star Wars universe. I've been a fan since the early 80's which many of us have and even before then. As much as it saddens me. I will not be viewing anymore new series or movies until this DEI and ESG nonsense is put to a stop. I also will not be spending anymore of my hard earned money with Disney until Iger and Kennedy are fired! I hate it so much. I once wanted to work for Walt Disney as a animator years ago coming out of school. It was my big dream in life to do so. Seeing the state of the company now makes me glad that I didn't. They care nothing about their fans or their employees. Given with the recent layoff and firing of many of their employees. Disney may as well be the Hindenburg because it's going down in flames. In combination with the impending boardroom clash care of Ike Permutter and Nelson Peltz (which I am looking forward to far more than any star wars project), I feel like this might be a shareholder weathervane to see which way the fandom could potentially turn, as well as to establish whether there are any existing ways forward if they do take over. I read the revival of Obaid-Chinoy's statements regarding men and star wars as a Perlmutter/Peltz move: they want to keep the pressure on and keep the heat up. Disney had nothing to gain from reviving this controversy at this time, but they have everything to gain. Did the announcement cause yet another dip in DIsney stock prices? Sorry to make this political, but does anyone else see parallels between what's happening at Disney and what's happening in the actual politics of the USA? And is it an accident that Obaid-Chinoy is aligned with the WEF and all that it represents (including DEI drivers Blackrock and Vanguard) and that initiative too is failing massively with the public, despite all the media and money pushing it at every opportunity? There have been rumors for a while that Mando season 4 would be turned into a movie. The significant development here was the timing and method of it being announced, rather than at the more logical Star Wars Celebration as Andre mentioned. I agree, they did it to try to salvage the fanbase that it being driven away in droves by Iger mandating a Rey movie and Kathleen Kennedy picking a woke director.

The sad thing is they know what people want and they throw it out there to cover up the backlash of what people don’t want…..

The piano accompaniment to Kathleen Kennedy's interview (5:37) cracked me up - perfect commentary on the clown show that she has made Lucasfilm into. Anytime a CEO steps in and hires a director for a movie over the VP's head, it definitely smacks of desperation, and a vote of "no confidence" in Kathleen Kennedy. In fact, this could be the beginning of the end for her. If the Mandalorian movie does well while Thrawn & Rey crash~n~burn, Iger may send Kennedy packing. That said, I won't see any of those movies, as I don't wish to support Disney financially in any way at present.

You cannot go ahead with anything that Lucasfilm has already thrown up at this point. Not the ST, Obi-Wan, definetly not Ashoka or even the Mandalorian. Just as others mentioned the Mandalorian has been spoiled by the 3rd season, and everything John Favreau had planned has been completely compromised and/or destroyed by KK and her flying monkeys. You need to completely start over from scrach. A completely new story that could cross over or follow the OT timeline and create a new timeline completely different from the ST by changing key events such as Leia having twins, neither of them named Ben, trashing the ST on the spot, and removing it from the canon immediately. That is the only way I believe fans will come back, and only if the story is truly amazing. Greetings!

Jon Faverau himself said that “all roads lead to the (Disney) sequel trilogy”, so why would I as someone who hates that trilogy, or anyone who feels the same way, bother with anything with Star Wars going forward? Lucas’ VII-IX or Nothing.

The thing I've always said about Netflix Daredevil is that it gives you 13 hours of storytelling in one season, and the people screaming that he be in the MCU just don't realise that at most he would have a 2 minute cameo, and at most a part of a movie that amounts to maybe an hour of screen time? It's the same with Mando - if you get a 90 minute movie it's hardly an upgrade.

Looking at the S1 of Mandalorian, the intention was clearly that. S2 is like "Mando is cool, but did you look at this other character here? It's pretty cool as well, even more". S3 is like "We never said who was the mandalorian, but we're certain that people would this random character here being THE Mandalorian we always intended to do."

When this fails, they will say it is proof the fans really didn't want Favreau's stuff to begin with and the path Cathleen was on was correct.

Jon Favreau seems to be the only George Lucas disciple in the Disney management, and his reputation as a true StarWars fan might draw other fans to the theatre (that would work for me). He was able work without interference before, so if he is given a free hand again, he might create a worthwhile movie. If successful, Favreau’s film, like the man, will be the only profitable assets Disney StarWars will be able to lay claim to in the next few years.

No, Book of Boba Fett was not "compromised by having to cram in the Mando season 3 storylines" - Andre is mixing up cause with effect. The two Mando season 3 episodes being put in Book of Boba Fett was because Favreau's BoBF story outline was incompetently fleshed-out and then Kathleen Kennedy sabotaged it further with the "mod" street gang riding "Vespa" hoverscooters, so after the ratings for the first four episodes were a disaster, Favreau scrapped the planned episodes 5-7 and moved the first two Mando season 3 episodes to BoBF to buy time for him to rewrite the BoBF finale. If you look at IMDB's writing credits for Noah Kloor, the only Star Wars stuff he's credited with are the seven episodes of BoBF plus Mando S03E03 "The Convert", which was one of the crappy "filler" episodes added to replace the two that were moved to BoBF. Hence I strongly suspect Noah Kloor is the root cause of the poorly written episodes on projects under Favreau's umbrella and should be shown the door.

On one hand I am glad to see Fabreu is coming back. However I still feel fear that Kennedy and the storygroup will do something to ruin Jon's movie because they know best. When it clear that they don't know an thing at the moment after 3verything besides Mando 1 and 2 being bad when it comes to live action.

Mandalorian Season 3 was such an unmitigated disaster, it killed all of the excitement I had for a possible movie.

Maybe it is Bob Iger, but then Andre you did say in your other video that Iger was always heavily onboard with Rey and giving Kathy her Rey movie. Because remember the only REAL "Plan" Iger and Kennedy ever had for their Sequel trilogy was for Rey to become this hugely beloved character and lead the way forward for the entire Disney Starwars Franchise; that failed and i think they're too narcissistic to realize and face this truth and that's where all the quadrupling down of deciding to go all-in and make this Rey movie came from. So it just doesn't make sense now for Iger to have "gone over Kathy's head" and try and bring back Favreau when he and Kathy AND even Filoni had basically pushed Jon out by announcing all these new movies, specifically a "Mandalorian crossover movie" at the 2023 Celebration, where Dave Filoni was revealed to be the sole Director and writer, and Not have Favreau co-directing it with him. I do absolutely agree this sounds like pure desperation but i just see it alittle differently here, i see it as Bob Iger and Kathy Kennedy are just fully committed to doing anything they can to make their Sequel trilogy and it's Canon "Relevant", which is why they announced the Rey spin-off movie. But there are some other Disney bosses who are not onboard with this Rey movie, Exactly from the moment they witnessed poor (young) Daisy Ridley being rolled out on cue onto that stage and seeing all that lukewarm reception from the audience; in specifically just how long it took everyone to Applaud! It was like the Fans at that Celebration were really not expecting "Rey Skywalker, the NEW JEDI Master!" I believe once the Disney bosses saw that, it made them very nervous about the whole idea of a "Rey Movie". As you're probably already aware, these Disney execs, high ups and especially the Shareholders; when they sold the idea of a "New Star Wars Movie", they're expecting it to hit MASSIVE BOX-OFFICE NUMBERS! Anything arnd £500-600 million is simply not good enough for them, not when it comes to *Star Wars* movies. So they want to feel that "Audiences" and specifically us FANS are hugely excited at whatever "Starwars Movie" is announced; and you've only got to read the room at that 23 Celebration in London when the Rey movie was announced, there was seriously no blowing the roof off of that venue; and i mean, these are supposed to be the SUPERFANS! You know the kinds of Starwars Fans who just LOVE Everything that has the Starwars name on it that spend all the money to go to these Celebrations. Just look up the prices of tickets to attend a 1 or 2-day Starwars Celebration, they're not cheap; so for those particular types of Fans to just express average, lukewarm reactions to those announcements tells you alot. I think this sudden news of a Mando & Grogu movie, supposedly being directed by Jon Favreau shows us there's Execs in Disney who are not ALL onboard with the original previous plan way back in May last year of making a "Rey Movie". the fact Kathy never mentioned "Jon Favreau"s name once in that interview at the Celebration, but she was all-over Dave Filoni, and now Favreau's name is attached to Directing a Mando/Grogu movie!? that tells me there's still some division between the two.

The only way this might work is if Favreau is allowed to do his job with final say, and Gina Carano is back on board. I don't see this happening without changes upstairs at the board level and Favreau able to have control over who is on his production, to prevent sabotage from the ground up.

He won't be able to make a film without KK's fingerprints all over and I'm done spending money on Disney. Any money that Disney, ESPN, ABC, Nat Geo, 20th Century Fox or any other subsidiary of that disgusting corporation gets from me will be by accident!
