I'm convinced that this was inevitable after what Lucas said about producers back in the day. Making Star Wars by committee and making it "better", i.e. different from what Lucas wanted, was their goal. The only way to make their grudge go away. Turns out, though, people that lack creativity are bad at creating.

If he knew Star Wars his junk would have broader appeal. At this point you need to do research to even know who anyone in Star Wars is. He will never save Star Wars. So I must agree with you. As cool as the set ups have been the fact remains 90% of the general fandom doesn’t know or care about any of it. It’s a dying brand and you’re right, he’ll kill it faster than Disney can say “stop that shat.”

Never liked Ahsucka, she was a Mary Jane, like 99.999% of female characters at Disney. No, I don’t hate women either, in fact I’m a great admirer of the female sex. But, the bs about strong wamen, I’ve had about enough of that. As a guy who served in the military, fought as an amateur MMA fighter, and was a trainer for years, I know for a FACT that a female, no matter how many martial arts she knows, cannot beat up or for that matter even hurt a fully grown, adult male. I’ve seen the two genders fight it out many times and it always ends in seconds, and with the female on the ground in pain or crying. Oh and the whole, if they had a sword or bat though, argument is bullshit as well. A man can shatter a woman’s ribs with one hard swing of a sword. I’ve grabbed a bat out a woman’s hands before as she swung it as hard as she could at me, it was like grabbing a pillow off the bed.

There is another component. The poor reception of Ahsoka has damaged Filoni's image and the Vanity Fair puff piece is meant to shore him up. But more importantly, KK needs Disney to invest in these 3 movies and boosting Filoni is meant to inspire confidence in Lucasfilm that a fan friendly voice is present in the room. All BS of course, but I bet Bob Iger is going to slash their movie budgets and KK has turned on the PR campaign to keep the money flowing

I see this as KK rewarding Filoni for forcing Jon Favreau out. Favreau became a growing obstacle to KK and therefore she forced "fellow Star Wars fan" upon Favreau and his Mandalorian show. And the results of that became clear in season 2: where season 1 was still all Favreau, season 2 was where Filoni butted in and everything went to s***. Season 3 was Favreau quietly disappearing and Filoni completing turning the Mandalorian into yet another KK approved s***show. KK doesn't give a single f*** about promoting anything but "the Force is Female" and even this "promotion" is an empty shell, because she only created a moniker for the work Filoni was already doing, basically giving him a fictional job like "Chief Officer in Charge of Empty Boxes".

Filoni had absolutely nothing to do with the Mandalorian, yet he was inserted by KK, took control of the show in season 2 and forced Favreau out before season 3. And if you have any doubts, just look at how much the narrative of the show changed after season 1. Filoni may have started out as a genuine Star Wars fan, but just like Kevin Smith he sold out to the corporation a long time ago and now is little more than KK's lapdog. The simple fact that she created a worthless job description especially for Filoni to reward him for a job well done says it all.

He also messed up a lot on clone wars. Remember the chips? I member. I still hate him for it. And the ARCs getting turned into a bad joke? I remember. The entire character of the clones honestly, while it had great moments, was in general just murdered. I mean really. DEDICATED CLONE JANITORS?! I'm surprised more people didn't mock that when they were ripping into stormtrooper janitors. Clones are literally way more trained than stormtroopers that's why palpatine did the change, to save on time and money!

I think Filoni was promoted so he could shield Kennedy in South Park's future Panderverse episodes. And more. I think his only purpose in his new position is sacrificial lamb. I said before that Kathleen Kennedy's only talents were coattail riding, manipulation and flattery. I think she definitely used those latter two on Filoni. Dave always came off to me as a weak-willed man, easily bullied or steered by people with stronger personalities. It's telling that up until very recently, Kennedy didn't seem to GAF about Dave. But Dave was associated with the creation of the Mandalorian, so now she's talking about Dave like she always thought he was a genius and always the guy who should be the mastermind behind Star Wars. She'll squeeze everything she can out of him and leave him for dead just like she did with Rian Johnson (who used to be her golden boy) As it turns out Filoni isn't as talented as the fans once believed. Just like Kennedy, once he took the reins, he exposed himself as much less competent than previously thought. I think it is fair to assume a lot of his past successes were due to talented people working beside him. Talented people who didn't get the same credit as Dave took. Star Wars is no better with him in charge. Lets just hope these constant failures kill off the future Ray movies. No one wants to see Ray become the saviour of the Galaxy again and the one to bring back the Jedi. Disney taking all these historic L's has to hit them hard eventually.

Script Doctors analysis are usually spot on. It makes obvious sense for KK™ to install a buffer. She wants to reign in all the accolades of being Hollywood Royalty and bow out in a blaze of chuff, dancing down the red carpet with Daisey Ridley one last time. It is unfortunate that Peter Bogdanovich ever hired Frank Marshall in the first place. This led to Marshall running into Spielberg in Rome 1973, and the rest is history.

No I'm not excited, the mandowerse did work because of it creator Jon Favreau and that Iger gave him creative freedom from Kathleen (for 2 seasons) why Bob is letting this happen to something that could save SW is a mystery. Filoni is a cartoon creator and storyteller and should stick with that. The difference between CW abd Rebels is George Kucas . The difference between s1 of the Mandalorian and Ahsoka is Favreau. Maybe already for BoBF, when Dave got his earlier promotion, Dave was involved to do Kathleen's bidding. There were changes made that Favreau didn't agree on. One of them probabky Grogu going back to Din.

Phoney Filoni stars in the Disney LucasFilm reimagining of "The Fallguy." As soon as I heard that Phoney Filoni was given this "promotion" to an imaginary position, I thought, "he's there to take the heat. and divert criticism away from KK; she must be starting to worry about her job. When I was young, I used to have all the Hasbro toys. It was amazing. I grew up and sold them all, but then when figure arts made Star Wars figs I bought all those expensive ones. I was so excited! … they basically halted their Production after TLJ… after that it was all a trickle … My heart broke after TLJ … the figures just sat there for years … I (today) finally shipped the last of my sold collection (Ep 3 Anakin) for nowhere near what it used to be worth. I will always have the memories. The magic is gone. The value is gone. They literally destroyed something amazing.

Personally, I can't wait for Filoni's Star Wars. Given his track-record, I think once he starts getting films out into theatres, it's going to be exactly what I want to see. I'm going to buy my popcorn, have a seat, and absolutely LOVE every second of the new Stars Wars' descent into complete and utter hellfire. I am going to LAUGH and laugh and laugh.

It’s a transparent political move by KK. 1. to provide her with cover going forward, so she can point at Filoni if another “South Park - The Panderverse” story comes along and scores another direct hit. Or movies bomb, which is going to happen because the changes are cosmetic, which has been clearly demonstrated by them flying the “Mr Fantastic - Pedro Pascal” test balloon. 2. She’s outflanked her “enemies” at Disney & Lucas Film by installing an ‘heir apparent’ who is for all intents and purposes carrying on her …. ahem… “legacy”, thereby preempting any potential ‘coup d’e’tat’ bringing in someone from outside her loyal coterie. I hate her. lol

There is one thing I don't get. Favreau presented the Mandalorian project to Iger, so Iger greenlit it. Then Kathleen put in Dave and her self. But since Kathleen interrupted and got in the way Iger put her to work with Children of Blood and Bones instead. This gave Favreau creative freedom for 2 seasons of the Mandalorian. Then Chapek accidentally? Brought Kathleen back, this was somewhere when Gina got fired and the BoBF was produced. What also happened was that Filoni got a promotion ECD. From that point Kathleen had to power back and Filoni was above Favreau in Favreau's own project. After that we got BoBF, Kenobi and s3 of Mandalorinan Not Rangers of th new republic or the story with Luke and Grogu. We didn't even get Luke in Kenobi as it was planned from the beginning. To the question Why didn't Iger do anything about this when he got back? He could easily have removed Kathleen from that project again. That would have made him look like a strong leader even. We should not forget that Favreau talked about reuniting our OT heros in the early days, something he think was a miss in the sequels. Maybe he had the plan for a "Heir to the Empire" adaptation But now we'll get one with Filoni's charton characters instead. Maybe thats why Thrawn is less a threat in Filoni's world, so his characters will stand a chance

I couldn't even finish this one. It's no criticism of Andre, the video was of thes usual high quality we've come to expect from Midnight's Edge. It's just that it's more of the same old bad news for Star Wars. It never gets better and it won't any time soon Anyone who considered themselves a big fan before Disney - there is no way those people (me included) can be anything but disgusted by what it's become. There's no way you could be a big fan of the originals and still enjoy what Disney is pumping out. They're antithetical to each other. Disney is not making Star Wars and they never have. It really is like a zombified, walking dead version of what we knew as Star Wars.

I wouldn't have been delighted with Filoni in 2012. TCW was first to break with established canon, and did so heavily and often for no reason other than laziness and lack of research (yes Lucas bears some blame for this too, but it was Filoni's baby). I get that millennial SW fans love it because they grew up with it, but it was the beginning of the end for the franchise.
