If look at this, then turn on Disney Channel today, the major difference is is apparent. Back then, the programming was geared more towards families, meaning it was to kids and parents. There would also be concert specials and such for the adults. The layout was also more classy. Now, Disney Channel's almost strictly geared to kids.

When you watch the "Next On" transition-segment at around 9:15, it's so elegant and understated. Today, it'd be like, "NEXTUPCOOLAWESOMECOOLMANYEAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!"

I remember all of this! This was back when The Disney Channel was a premium network, and my parents couldn't afford it at the time, but each year, they'd have a free preview, and I'd watch the hell out of it! I remember the "Avonlea" series and when "Parent Trap III" was released, and all that! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

In this aria of time it was starting to be what it is now slowly they did it, But they still showed different shows in curtain part of the day. Like cartoons after school hours, family shows during dinner time, teen shows mid evenings then adults shows later at night before they do the sign off thing. In between they had Date line Disney, D-TV and all other cool stuff they did to make it magical and it really made want to be at the parks.

His name was Jerry Bishop. He also served as announcer for Judge Judy for over 20 years. Unfortunately he died in 2020. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Bishop

It's funny - thank to Disney Channel showing Star Wars back then and Star Tours being at Disneyland, I thought Star Wars actually was owned by Disney. Turns out I was just off by a few decades.

George Lucas and Michael Eisner worked together on “Raiders Of The Lost Ark” when Eisner was president of Paramount. When Eisner moved over to manage Disney that relationship helped him bring Lucas properties to the theme parks and TV networks.

9:50 - 9:56 Also, it's rather neat to see the Disney "animated anthologies" - in this case, _"Melody Time"_ - have exposure on TV *in their original complete feature film form,* before Disney released them on video.

Was Welcome to Pooh Corner the puppet show? And is it embarrassing to admit I'm looking forward to the new animated movie this summer? Given the sheer amount of talent that came out of the 80s/90s incarnation of the Mickey Mouse Club, I'm kind of shocked that Disney hasn't tried to revive it over the last 15 years or so. Speaking of talent, Patricia Hamilton was certainly right about Sarah Polley. Tonight on the Disney channel: 7 episodes of Shake It Up! (whatever that is).

3:31 is Patricia Richardson from "Home Improvement" It's a "Saved By the Bell" obscure reference reunion! Miss Bliss' Hayley Mills and 4:21 I think is the same girl who played "Tori" the last year of SBTB that first mickey mouse club commercial gives me a headache. ahh, yes. this was back when people had to WRITE in to enter a contest. not email or upload a video. the voice is annoying, too that "coming up next" promo is the coolest

@MeInTX Welcome To Pooh Corner (And Dumbo's Circus as well) used full sized costumes with animatronic faces. In retrospect...definitely creepy...but I enjoyed the hell out of those shows as a kid.

I'm surprised that Melody Time was shown on The Disney Channel in the early 90's. At least it was shown uncut unlike the 1998 VHS release and the 2000 DVD and VHS release.

The Disney Channel also used to play the Pecos Bill segment by itself to pad out the breaks between shows/movies

AFIAK the only alterations made to an animated Disney film prior to the late 90's was to remove the black centaurette in Fantasia: i.imgur.com/LJTGyDU.jpg which was done at some point in the 60's (comments by Deems Taylor were also edited down from the original release). Everything aired on the Disney Channel besides that was complete and unedited.

Yeah, and I hate it to no end. God, they need to stop, take a look and what they have now and then, and see just how much values they have lost going where they are now. They need to go back to this old format. Because it was what made this channel so good.

Me acuerdo que cuando walt Disney estaba en inglés y ahora está disponible en México y de otros países mas que hablan en español y tambien en USA. En ciudad obregon sonora México estuvo el canal walt disney en inglés, pues en Mickey Mouse club estuvo la cantante britney spears y una actriz de la serie AVONLEA salió en las nuevas temporadas del SMALLVILLE de SUPERMAN osea la actriz interpretó a una ciegita en esa serie y me acuerdo todo los del walt disney. ¿como se llama el primer hombre que habló como el pato Donald?

Because as time has passed by, people have seen how technology and treatments for at least some disorders can work better, but they still haven’t generally leveled up their own knowledge enough to discover further talent. I have with HAPPYneuron after taking a survey that convinced me to look for educational brain games!

It's just the theme music that the Disney Channel used at the time. It was composed for these ads and probably doesn't even have a title.

Keyword: FAMILY Entertainment.....No longer....now its all aimed at tweens and 3 year olds. I watch Sonny with a Chance & Good Luck Charlie and that's it
