WHAT WE USE TO FILM OUR VIDEOS
Note that we make a commission from Amazon if you purchase using the links here:
DJI OM 5
This is like a steadicam for your phone. It keeps all your shots smooth and level, even while you are walking. Do not use on fast rides like roller coasters. Also note that this can convert to a selfie stick, but selfie sticks are not allowed in Disney Parks. This item is allowed because it is primarily a gimbal but you are not allowed to extend it.
amzn.to/3Q56hrb
RODE VIDEO MICRO
This little microphone is a great, affordable way to cut down on the noise around you so people can hear your voice. Just be sure to point it at the sound you want and unplug it when you want to hear all the sound around you.
amzn.to/3TwZxp0
COLD SHOE MOUNT ADAPTER
If you want to use the DJI Om 5 and the microphone at the same time, you need one of these.

I’m glad you guys are doing genie plus in all the parks because many people just say you don’t need genie plus at Epcot but for someone like us that loves to ride but also wants to eat around the world genie seems like a way to do both. Another great video and great ears as always 😂
@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
Thanks - and we completely agree. If there is no festival going on (or you don't care to do much at the festival) you definitely COULD ride everything in Epcot without springing for the Genie. That said, you would not be able to enjoy the World Showcase as much because you would spend a huge chunk of your day in lines. We are planning a Food & Wine video where we talk specifically about how to use Disney Genie to maximize your festival experience.

2 choices for first time WDW visitors..1.Sit and get out your Captain Crunch decoder ring and cry over figuring out Genie Plus OR understand and realize you NEED to watch ROB with Ear Scouts!!! Rob, I want to say THANK YOU! I was so overloaded with trying to tackle our first WDW visit! I was ELATED when I found your videos! You are such a joy to watch and really make it clear and are to the point! Your videos with the closeup step by step Genie + walk throughs are amazing!!! I ran into you at EPCOT and I am so sorry I was literally a rambling Mom trying to say THANK YOU! I was star struck and so want you to know that what you do made a 10 year olds DREAM Vacation an amazing one! Please keep doing what you do and know that your infectious smile, LOVE for Disney and true Joy are sooooooo appreciated and you make a difference in ways you will never know. We would have all been overloaded, confused and frustrated without you! YOU ARE OUR GENIE + BATTLE BUDDY!

Dear Rob, Your videos were extremely helpful with our Spring Break vacation. We did all four parks and one day at universal studios. I was so nervous about using genie+. I kept watching your videos over and over. We were even able to ride the Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind through the 1:00 pm online cue. I have to say that was the best and most fun indoor roller coaster I have ever ridden. The parks were jammed packed and so we bought the genie plus for all the parks. Didn’t get to ride all the rides we wanted (Rise of the Resistance, Frozen, Test Track). All in all, we had a blast and I’m sure that without your videos I would have been lost. Thank you.

I went back and watched your 27 tips. Are you still recommending 1 account on 1 phone or over multiple devices? I have an account… my husband I think has one but my teenagers do not. I wanted to make sure when using genie + the best way to have a favorable outcome is to only work off of 1 app as a posed to us each using the our own app? Not sure if that makes sense. My mom wants to know if you will just come with us to do genie + all day!😜jk
@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
@@kimchisholm-godshalk9960 It is fine for multiple linked accounts to manage things for each other as long as you have everything set up correctly. Erick and I manage things from each of our accounts. The issue is just that it can be frustrating if it is not set up correctly and since it’s kind of beyond the scope of a video like this to try to troubleshoot account issues, I just recommended using one account. But if you guys are all set and have no issues, it’s fine to manage from multiple accounts. What I don’t recommend is trying to do the same thing at the same time. It’s fine for one person to focus on booking a LL for the group while somebody else books a Virtual Boarding Group or mobile orders lunch, but it can get problematic if multiple people are trying to book Genie Plus Lightning Lanes at the same time. Hope you guys have an amazing trip - say hi if you see us in the parks and I’ll be happy to try my hand at playing the slots for your next ride. 😂

We are heading down in a few weeks and am looking forward to utilizing many of the strategies you have laid out in your videos. I have watched many videos and must say I find yours to be the most informative and practical. We will have Genie Plus for our trip but will be leaving Epcot early afternoon for some rest before park hopping to another park later in the day. Would you suggest getting Lightning Lane for Remy and going right to Test Track or Frozen and using the standby line? Can't wait to see more videos!
@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
Hi Brandon! Thanks for watching - we’re glad to hear you have found our videos helpful. As for your question, this depends on whether you have/will be arriving for early entry. If you are staying at a resort and are arriving at the beginning of early entry, I’d pick one of those big 3 to start your day and book another right at 7am for as early as you can get it. Then you’d only have one tough ride to book and you could easily get it for a little later in the day - especially if you book it right after you tap in for your morning ride. If you don’t have early entry and/or won’t be there for rope drop, I’d still book Remy first thing because it will likely be booked up pretty early and will be a little more challenging to grab. Good luck!

I am so glad I watched your videos just before our trip last week. We went with a party of 19 and I was able to make lightning lanes for all 19 it was just I couldn’t pre select more than 12. I had to go in and hit edit my group after clicking on the lightning lane. I then could select everyone. Thank you so much though as I was much better with this system then the rest of my family thanks to your videos. They even ended up calling me Genie for most of the trip because I would just book all their lightning lanes for everyone. Thank you so much though for all your help.
@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
That is fascinating. We had always just been told 12 was the max. No one ever said there was a workaround. Now I want to try Genie Plus with a huge group! That does add an extra layer of complication because you lose precious seconds adding everyone. Did you miss out on some good times, or did you find it didn't make a huge difference? Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
@elischmieder2667
@elischmieder2667 2 года назад
@@EarScouts In the mornings we would pre select our groups and split the group in two. That way we could get the harder to get lightning lanes quickly. By later in the day we would have one person select the attraction and then hit edit party. Once we could see our party I just hit select all and it would add all 19 of us. The times also didn’t change as I would go in and select the party. What I was also able to do, was book virtual queues for everyone. For this I was able to just pre select all 19 of us and I even got us in the 7 am boarding group and in a 6 pm boarding group for Guardians of the Galaxy.

I am so glad to see this post! I have been trying to figure out how to deal with this for our family of 15 traveling Thanksgiving week. So for Genie+ in the morning, you can pre select the group before 7am? So we can split into 2 groups with 2 different people booking? I am glad to hear I should be able to book a of us for the virtual queue. What about the individual Lightning lane rides? Were you able to book more than 12 for those?

Hi Rob, I love this video series! I enjoy your music as well! That’s a super long walk from the entrance to France then back to the entrance! Would you recommend taking the boat back between France and Morocco? How often does it run? You mentioned that San Angel wasn’t one of your favorite table service restaurants. I really loved the two meals I’ve had at Chefs De France! When I was at EPCOT pop, Test Track ran out super quick after Frozen! What I didn’t know until I watched another Genie+ video of yours, was to keep refreshing until the messages changed from “no longer unavailable” to offering times. Thank you for mentioning the tap in strategy and screen shots for the high demand rides! And thank you so much for all of your explanations!
@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
Yes - I definitely did not plan that super long walk in the morning. As I mentioned in your other comment, we actually got called for Guardians right when the park opened. I needed to do Remy so that I could book another LL, but then I didn't have time to eat breakfast before heading all the way back to Guardians. You are correct, though - the Ferry can be very helpful in situations like this. Unfortunately, I think they start running later in the day. Maybe around 11AM-ish? Chefs de France is one of the few restaurants I haven't done yet. Looking forward to checking that one out! Thanks for watching and supporting our channel with your great comments, questions and suggestions. We really appreciate it! 😃

I don't think we will have Hollywood Studios out until Monday at the earliest, unfortunately. We are editing it now. It was a wild day. 😂 The key to Studios is to knock out Slinky Dog and Tower of Terror as quickly as you can, then focus on Smugglers Run, Rock 'n Roller Coaster and Runaway Railway. If you're not paying for the LL for Rise, do that one while you are waiting for the 2 hour rule to pass OR at the end of the night right before park close (though that is a riskier bet because it might go down). If you have early park entry and can get there really early, that can be a good time to do Rise, as well. Thanks so much for watching! We hope you have a great trip. Great video. Looking forward to using these tips and tricks, heading to WDW in 27 days. My big question is how much time do you save on the “not-top” rides by getting the lightning lanes? Did you save much time on spaceship earth, figment, Nemo?
@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
Hi Rob! It really depends on the time of day and the crowd level. The biggest time savings are typically on Soarin’ and Mission: Space. Soarin’ can often be 45+ minutes. Mission: Space gets to be a long wait when it runs at lower capacity (which happens a lot). Late in the day, Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land and Nemo are often pretty close to walk-ons. Thanks for watching!

Hi Lorna - thank you! You can book for your second park as soon as you find return times that are available after 2pm. This usually happens within an hour or so for the most popular rides (and sometimes around 7:05 am on the busiest park days 😂). That said, I recommend booking your first couple of rides in your first park and then alternating until you get all the big ticket rides done in park #1. At that point, you can focus entirely on park 2. Thanks for watching! 😃

Could you please do a genie+ strategy video when park hopping at HS and AK ? I don’t know if I should stacking for the afternoon or focus on getting good return time for the morning
@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
We are working on a potential series all about park hopping and I could see this issue being a good thing to cover. If it were me, I would definitely start at Hollywood Studios because many of those Lightning Lanes are MUCH harder to snag as the day goes on. I wouldn’t consider stacking until I got the big rides from that first park out of the way. The good news is that most people hop from Animal Kingdom to other parks because it closes earlier, but that means that you would benefit from lower wait times across the board later in the afternoon. The only LL I would be really laser focused on would be Na’vi River Journey. That line stays massive all day and night typically, as does Flight of Passage (though that one isn’t included with Genie Plus).

@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
Hello MaryFrances! To my knowledge, there is no limitations on using DAS during Food & Wine and you never need to pay for Genie Plus in order to use DAS. Next time I am at Epcot, I will ask some Cast Members to make sure there are no DAS limitations currently. Genie can be helpful alongside DAS at some of the parks, but I don't think it would be worth it for Epcot. There just aren't enough rides to make using both worthwhile. Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios would be great for using that combo. Thanks for watching! 😀

Thank you soo much for these vids. I’m currently in Epcot and I’d been trying ALL day to get a lightning lane to Remi. I was playing those slots and I’d get times but then I’d get an error. I took a screenshot like you advised and talked to a cast member. Because the wait for the ride was 90 min and even the lightning lane was long due to the ride going down earlier she didn’t help but she advised to keep trying. We went to get ice cream and sure enough at 6:45 we finally got a lightning lane to confirm for 7:15! If it wasn’t for your videos I would’ve probably given up.

The only things that could make these videos better would be if you discussed what day you’re there and go over what the crowd levels are listed as for the day, and what the standby wait is on the rides you get instant LL for. It would be helpful to know what we can expect success (or lack of) with given the crowds and days you are there as an additional reference point, and how much time we are saving by going through LL vs standby times for those “lesser” rides
@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
Hi John! Thanks for the suggestion. We always include the recording date when we upload to RU-vid, so you should be able to see that in the information for each video. This one was Saturday, July 9. It was pretty much as crowded as it gets, which was why Frozen and Test Track were so competitive. For the smaller rides, you don't save a whole lot of time - especially later in the day. Soarin' is often at 45 minutes or so (which makes LL very worth it), but Spaceship Earth, Nemo and Living with the Land are often pretty close to walk-ons. I still use the Lighting Lanes if I have them because it is pretty much always faster, but it is those bigger rides that make Genie worth it. Those waits are often 70+ minutes. We have gotten the suggestion that we should always show standby wait time when we use our LL's and it is a good suggestion. We just haven't implemented it yet. Maybe for the next round. Thanks for watching and offering these suggestions. We really appreciate your feedback!

I didn't think I could learn anything new about Genie+ but somehow your videos manage to teach me something each time! I'd love to know your advice for using Genie without doing as much walking! Maybe some videos that make the best use Genie and Standby without going back and forth across the parks. With the heat and kids too big for strollers, I'm hoping to do the front of the Epcot in the morning and World Showcase later in the day. I'm thinking book Remy first but aim for a later time. Invoke the 2 hour rule and ride front of the park stuff, then hope I can still find something for Frozen by playing the slots. We don't plan to ride Test Track so that helps. Really, I think we just need Genie for Remy and Frozen.

Great idea! I was just thinking that was a super long walk from the main entrance to France back to the main entrance! My family would hate me for that. Lol. That’s what makes EPCOT so challenging to me! I would probably try to utilize that boat somehow between France and Morocco!
@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
Yes - we often do a huge amount of walking in these videos. Especially this one because I did not plan to end up with such an early boarding group for Guardians. In my head, it made perfect sense to have breakfast in France right after riding Remy, but I didn't count on a side trip all the way back to Guardians in the middle. 🤣 Your plan sounds solid. Just keep in mind that you'll need to play the slots for a little while in the morning to get a late enough return time for Remy. Another person suggested that we do a "perfect day" in the park video series, and your suggestion of using Genie without as much walking might be a good way of approaching that. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion!
@EarScouts
@EarScouts 2 года назад
Yes. We did SO much walking in this video. I never use the boat to cut across World Showcase because I like getting the exercise (Disney is my cardio 😂), but it is a great tool to use to cut down on all the walking. To be honest, when I planned this video, it made a lot of sense to have breakfast in France right after Remy. Didn't count on that boarding group coming up so fast. They called us as soon as the park opened. 🤦‍♂️

Hello! My recommendation would be to book an Individual Attraction Lightning Lane for Guardians for very late in the day or early evening. Give yourself plenty of time to get there. Since you have another Epcot day, I’d skip Genie this first day and just enjoy the festival, the fireworks and maybe a ride or two. You’ll have plenty of time to ride everything on your full Epcot day and Genie could help you knock everything out very quickly if that’s your goal. Hope that helps - and thanks for watching! 😃

If you are in doubt of how much time you need to budget, give yourself 15 minutes to get from one end of the park to another assuming that you are walking at a brisk pace. If you prefer to take your time or you are wrangling some little ones, maybe make it 20. Each park is different and Epcot probably takes the longest because World Showcase is massive and is apart from the hub of Future World. I haven’t seen a video yet that shows how to do that. @@mandablakeley Gotcha. It's trickier than you might think because you can't schedule, you have to take the next available time. It is not too hard to do this with the most popular ride or two because their return time will get really late really fast. Unfortunately, a lot of rides never end up showing times that are more than 15 minutes out or less, so stacking them is really tough. We'll add this to the list. We do touch on it a bit in our Festival Genie video that will be coming out very soon.
