Lasseter and Glen Keane were two of the world's greatest film legends at Disney-- and both of them were chased out by woke activists-- Disney movies began failing immediately afterward, and the company gets worse every year as all their top talent is replaced by more incompetent activists. Disney is so infected now, that it cannot recover, even if it wanted to change directions. The entire company from top to bottom is now activists who will not fire themselves, and do not have any talent.

The joke is that, by pandering to the activists, Iger has allowed Disney to become infested by them and there's no way to remove them without destroying the whole company.

@@doncarlodivargas5497 There's also the archetypal differences between creative types, political types and managerial types. It is probably indicative of equity culture that its proponents see no difference between them, but they have very different talents, capabilities and purposes and when each focuses on what they're good at, and honours and respects what the others are good at, things turn out fantastically. It's when respect is lost and people assume anyone can and should do any job that things go awry.

The MCU started out with brilliant directors: Jon Favreau, the Russo brothers, Mr.Buffy, even freaking Kenneth Branagh. One by one they all went. Favreau is haning on at Lucasfilm watching his ideas be perverted, Branagh is back doing Shakespeare and the occasional art movie, the rest are nowhere. It's not John Lassiter who is the only brilliant creator who has been driven out and, if they could, destroyed.

Firing Lasseter a second time is proving more disastrous than the first time. That’s right: Long before Pixar, Lasseter was a Disney animator and they fired him for wanting to make The Brave Little Toaster a computer-animated movie. That’s how he landed at Pixar before Toy Story. Of course, the rest is history with the success of Toy Story, the many-year Disney-Pixar distribution deal, the acquisition of Pixar, and then… well, you’d think they had learned their lesson about firing this guy after groveling at his feet to save Walt Disney Animation Studios as the new head when it was shaping up to be a bomb factory in their previous efforts to replace Pixar (Valiant, The Wild, Chicken Little, and the in-production version of Meet the Robinsons). Disney literally bought Pixar to get Lasseter and save Walt Disney Animation Studios.

There's a reason we call it Cultural Marxism; it's an ideology that takes the idea of the oppressors vs the oppressed and casts it on to literally any aspect of human society you can imagine. This wasn't the first time that Lesseter got burned by Disney. Remember all the times he and Eisner clashed? Heck, Eisner went so far as to try and torpedo Iger buying Pixar, and this is *after* Eisner was forced to step down via a proxy war with Roy Disney Jr.

I worked at a small publisher years back. Was about 40 people when I started, and five years later it was over 10 times that many. They hired a huge marketing/sales team along with expensive ads in all the magazines. Budgets skyrocketed and people were spending money like water. Company politics and infighting became the norm. Another 5 years later and the whole place collapses like a slow train wreck.

Considering how bloated Disney animation budgets have become it is obvious, to me atleast, that Disney has some issues. I mean really, 250 million dollars to make an animation and it still looks worse than the stuff they made decade or two ago. Where is all that money going? Even before the Lasseter "Resignation" The house of mouse had been cooking the books for a few years beforehand. With all the flops recently it seems to me they are trying to use that as an excuse to explain where all the money has gone. But with year after year of flops makes me wonder, how much did they lose to begin with to keep going down this path? Then there is the FTX catastrophe and that is just what the public knows about. If you factor in the extreme financial mismanagement it makes the attachment to ESG scores for external funding make a lot more sense. This creates a spiral though. They embraced ESG because of money troubles, this brings in less talented and qualified staff, the projects suffer and lose money, they hire more ESG staff to increase funding and the projects get worse. They chased short term and easy money that aligned with their cult system and sacrificed the future. Now even if they wanted to, they can not hire talented people back because what little funding they do have would evaporate and all the checkmark activists they hired wont allow it.

As soon as Lasseter left, you could just feel the difference in Pixar. He was a master at taking any concept and figuring out how to make it work. Clearly, he was a huge part of making their movies iconic, even with the ones he was less involved with. Now people try to emulate his "take a stupid-sounding idea and make it an iconic blockbuster" style without understanding how he made that work in the first place. I don't condone unwelcome hugging, but firing him was one of the dumbest choices Disney ever made.

Lightyear wasn't bad because of one blink-and-you'll-miss-it kiss, (I literally missed it the only time I watched it.) It was bad because it was a bland and colorless movie that did nothing for it's characters.

A lot of John's 'perfection' is hyped up to make him out to be a difficult boss but he's not and his methods are very reasonable. There is a great video about the making of Toy Story 3 where the writer breaks down the Pixar method and you see WHY John is a stickler for it, on top of John not being the final say in drafts. Pixar movies are built on a team dynamic and John ENCOURAGED that any idea can be done but in needs the right foundations for story for it to work and that's the basics any good storyteller knows. John brought STABILITY as well as assurance to the process. Even if you were worried, John and the team was always there to backup/support the story writing. None of that is there because the parasites that infected Pixar now believe their shit it perfect out the gate and they care more if characters are fucking one another (but only if they're the same gender of course) or if races are lecturing each other. John didn't care so much as being a leader so much as he cared about making art. The sty of cancel pigs and their tape worms were rolling in the mud and braying for leadership roles as soon as they kicked him out because that's all the care about; the false feeling of being in charge of something in order to mistreat those below them.

As someone producing an indie animated show, right now, I'm going to be paying very close attention to Alan Ng's reporting on this. I had the pleasure of talking with him at the Award This after party before the first article dropped and without spoiling what's on the way, I can say there are bigger bombshells yet to drop, from him, that if true mean the end of the centralized Hollywood system as we know it. There is probably going to be a lot of opportunities for independent talent and production companies down the road to carve out a place for themselves in the market if they can keep the activists out.

One positive outcome of this is that I've learned how to express what I want from my entertainment honestly and be self-directed in finding it myself instead of relying on one person or company to carry it all. Hell, the 1996 People magazine cover “Hollywood Blackout” predates OscarsSoWhite by almost 20 years and it’s the same complaint - no blacks are nominated for major Oscars. He orders his son to be killed, but the servant simply abandons the baby. Years later, he gets killed by his son Oedipus, just to wed his own mother soon after. He didn't know who was his family

It's very very big pity that a now 100 year old company like Disney, with such a rich history, legacy and a global presence, is facing challenges it's currently facing. Political ideas/ believes/ agendas, power struggles for control and an incompetent narcissitic power-hungry ceo. These issues are completely destroying the company's reputation, decaying its product, alienating its audience, boycotting its long-term success and hence compromising it's very existence. Walt has probably already turned himself a gazillion times in his grave, or cryo chamber for that matter. No, seriously. I don't 'hate' and/or 'despise' Disney, I just find it a terrible pity that the undespicable needs of a few are ruining the magic for the many. This analysis is right on point. The working environment was getting exponentially toxic with every passing day - no more expressing your views, no more family environment. Totally sterile and unworkable - no risk taking allowed. Remember the mantra "No one gets hurt?" Sounds great in a totalitarian environment but not in a place where ideas and risk taking once reigned supreme and made the company great.

Personally speaking as someone who was literally there and also a minor casualty in all of this, it's "empowering" and I feel like my voice is finally "being heard" because I "see myself" in these reports. The media coverage of John Lassiter felt so 1-sided, but it was also implied that because I'm white and straight and therefore "problematic" that my thoughts and feelings are toxic so I should just STFU even though I felt like I was witnessing behavior that was objectively wrong. Only the backstabbing and the spineless remain, because how can you backstab that which has no spine?

I don’t know why Lasseter was ever fired. I’ve never seen anything other than allegations. I do know that his Pixar films improved my childhood and young adulthood. And Lasseter was a driving force behind Princess and the Frog being a 2D animation. AND Lasseter was a force behind Disney’s Bueno Vista distributing Studio Ghibli films in North America for some time (Lasseter literally introduced me to Ghibli). So I appreciate all of those things.

Eisner just came in and raped/exploited the "just below the surface" powerhouse that existed within the company. He did (to his credit) wildly expand the Disney universe throughout the world but at what expense? Frank Wells was the perfect counter balance to Eisner until his death. Eisner also did all he could to steal Walt's legacy and install himself as the "New Walt" - what a disgrace he was. Glad he finally got the boot.

John Lassiter was a devout Christian and liked Disney and Pixar to hold onto its underlining Christian values. Bob Iger is a non-practicing Jew. It could be said that Bob Iger was not a big fan of Walt Disney and the progressive elements were trying to remove the Christian values from the company.

Lasseter is a genius and turned Pixar into what it was. Steve Jobs was smart enough to see what he had with Lasseter, and leave Lasseter alone to make his movies. Bob Iger, one of the worst CEO's ever, fired Lassiter and used the fake, partisan Democratic MeToo movement to do it. What made Iger seem like a great CIO was the period when he bought the greatest movie studios in Hollywood until he ruined them with his feminism and identity politics. The next big mistake was Iger not firing the incompetent Kathleen Kennedy. The third big mistake of Iger was to fire Ike Perlmutter and let Kevin Feige out of his cage. And Iger was going to run for president on the Democratic Party ticket, so he could screw up the country like he screwed up Disney. However, there was no need for that since Joe Biden, a man who was stupid before he was seniIe, is doing a great job screwing up the country and turning it into a dictatorship.

And Kennedy is an obsessive radical feminist who thinks she could use Star Wars as a political platform. But it was Lucas who hired Kennedy in the first place. He put her in charge of Lucasfilm right before he sold it to Disney, thinking she was a friend and ally who would protect his work from the corporation. He ignored the signs that she is a radical feminist because Lucas is a leftist and Hollywood is filled with radical feminists like Kennedy and Feige. It just seems normal. I'm sure Lucas regretted trusting her as soon as she sided with Iger to throw out his treatments and make "The Force Awakens," a copy of "A New Hope" with feminism and identity politics thrown in and where they start treating his original characters horribly.
