Circa summer of 2007, this is an old video of mine I never uploaded due to pipe dreams of some day including the caterpillar and bug noises of all things. Electrical Parade debuted in DCA in 2001, and the version in this video is essentially how it was presented from around 2004 until its changes in 2009.

One of my favorite memories as a child is going to Disney California Adventure every night to watch the Electrical Parade!

This is a lovely video of the parade--it is well filmed, and also it includes many features that I love and miss. California Adventure has such a nice parade route! Features I love: 1:28 and after, the lovely barrel lights, now gone, located around Paradise Pier, a tribute to light fixtures at the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco, 1939-1940. 1:32 and after, the Blue Fairy. She was magnifique! 18:55 and after, the Militia dancers doing actual choreography with high kicks. Love that!

I'm so sad that the parade is retired. I loved it so much and tried to see it as much as I could when I got to go to Disneyland, which has only been twice, unfortunately (it's been over a decade since I've been there). I've always enjoyed things decorated with lights, so the Electrical Parade was a highlight of Disneyland/California Adventure for me. My sister, who was little when she saw the parade, doesn't have very fond memories of it. She was afraid of the snails, bees, and turtles because of the noises they made and how close they'd get to the audience, especially since our family liked to sit right near the parade route to get a good look at the parade. She told me once that she was afraid they were going to hit her! I also think she might have been afraid of Elliot because of how big he was and probably because his eyes are kind of creepy (they look like the blue eyes of the statues in 'Atlantis: The Lost Empire, sort of).

Disneyland Paris released Main Street Electrical Parade 2.0 a.k.a The Disney Electrical Sky Parade.

I saw this a few years ago at Disneyland. I love World of Color, but the music drove my mom crazy and it was so much fun for my sister and me to sing it after it was done 😃

If only they brought this soundtrack and this version (the original/classic version) back to Disneyland when it returned in January. I only hope this is what they do for the parade's 45th anniversary this year (June 17th, 2017).

If only they would bring back this version for the 50th anniversary of the parade in 2022. It sounds so much better with the beginning music staying with the whole parade and each float adding its part of the soundtrack to the song rather than it going away and each float getting its own sound without the beginning sounds. This is how i saw it in 2006 at DCA and this is how i will remember it forever. Also, the ONLY thing that changed was the intro voice because it was not called the Main Street Electrical Parade.

Everyone keeps saying the original soundtrack but I think the problem is. I don’t think Disney could’ve gotten away with using such a retro soundtrack in the 2010’s. The modern one also adds a nice twist and more instruments and differences in the soundtrack. The Baroque Hoedown is different in each scene unlike here the song is always the same in each scene.(not counting each scene’s special song) But I still miss the Blue Fairy.

I have faith that one day Blue Fairy and Dumbo Circus will return to the parade, but I hope they do not take off more floats since the parade is shorter every time.

I knew when I was a kid I didn’t see it on main street! I remember Mickey Mouse on the Ferris wheel!

I totally agree with you! They shouldn't have changed it, especially the track. I mean the original track was a classic, a staple in Disney history. Now it's a rip off of an international Disney park version that had it first.

The new version was done to eliminate having to pay Don Dorsey royalties. The new version is done by an unnamed staff musician. It also is a new arraignment to remove the "short measure" where count 8 of the bar is missing: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7, 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8, .... The choreographers complained it was too complicated to work with -- despite 45 years of prior choreographers managing fine apparently.

@@lohphat Disney can clearly afford to pay the royalties as much money as they pull in each day! They should've never changed this soundtrack. Also, if you are a choreographer who has trouble with the odd measure, you shouldn't be working that position at Disney!

Trisha Foster, Small World was cut in '88 (likely because by that point the parade was already so long something had to go)

Amazing Footage and sound better than what the park put together in 1996 for the Electrical Parade farewell season on DVD and VHS. Being an ex Disneyland employee Who was a unit driver for the Electrical Parade from the summer of 82 season this was great ! The last year of the parade under Walt Disney productions before it went on Hiatus for the flights of fantasy Parade due to the opening of the New Fantasyland in summer of 83. When The Electrical parade returned the Park was The Walt Disney company That is when everything changed :(

I was watching the farewell video from '96 and unless my eyes are playing tricks on me it LOOKS like the drive unit for the Eagle faces towards the BACK of the unit?? if that's true did the driver basically rely on parade personell to alert them if people were walking iun front of the float?
