My wife and I worked at Disneyland for many years. It is literally an extremist DNC front-group now. Has completely swept away Walt's soul. The employees who believe in the magic don't last long.

If you're taking about when the host segments of this episode were filmed, then you would be right. If I were to guess, the host segments Walt did for the entire 1966-'67 season were filmed in July or August of 1966. However, this episode actually aired three days after Walt's death. He died on December 15, 1966 and this episode was first aired on December 18, 1966, and the opening sequence was not aired at all when the episode first aired. Instead, the opening sequence was replaced by a tribute to Walt since it was the first episode that aired after his death.

I wonder what Walt would think of his park now, being its 60th anniversary?

Hard to say, and the same goes for his ultimate dream, Walt Disney World. The one thing he would certainly like is how the Disney theme parks keep on evolving. There's a reason why Walt Disney said that Disneyland would NEVER be complete, as long as there is imagination left in the world. But on the other hand, I'm not sure he would like the fact that places like Frontierland, which Walt built to honor the past, has almost been completely done away with. But I think that he would like more of the changes than those he wouldn't like. Disneyland started with four or five "lands", and now it has about eight or nine, and with limited space (and even less now that other places around Disneyland, but within the Disneyland resort), the more "lands" that are built, the more space is taken away from other "lands".

LinLin I'm sure he wouldn't be happy about how much it's costing just to get into the parks now, he built it for people to enjoy.

He'd not like that which they've done, not at all.

That's funny, I also watched this on TCM last night. The first and only time I had ever seen it or heard of it. I came here to RU-vid to listen again to Lincoln's speech- which is so different now days. Love this clip from original speech. So grateful for TCM and for finding this video here.

The original opening did highlight the fact that the episodes were shown in color. However, the it did not show the full magic of Disney, which is why I use the 1970s opening to all the ones in color, because it does show the full magic of Disney. In fact, the portion of the opening from 0:22-0:24 (the part from "it's a Small World") in the opening comes from this very episode, as does the part shown from 0:38-0:40, which comes from "Fantasy on Parade", also from this episode. So "Disneyland Around the Seasons" contributes twice to the 1970s opening that I use for all the colorized episodes.

Wow, you were there for the 100 Years celebrations, because that's when those celebrations to commemorate Walt Disney's centennial were held at all Disney parks. I wasn't there for that, though I did go a couple of years later for my final trip there in 2004, which was just as they were beginning to spruce Disneyland for it's Golden Anniversary in 2005. (I had previously been to Disneyland in 1979 or '80 and for Grad Night in 1991.)

It certainly is. I was only able to go about five times, once around my birthday in 1980 my dad and I went three times when we stayed in Anaheim, once for Grad Night in 1991, and the other time in 2004 on a family visit, and there's almost no limit to the amount of fun you can have there, as Disneyland is a place where you can get away from it all. As I no longer live on the west coast, I've likely made my final trip there, though I do hope to go to Walt Disney World one day.

You're welcome. Comments like those are the reason why I uploaded these years ago when they weren't up. I actually had more classic Disney stuff on once upon a time, but because a number of them became blocked (mainly those with cartoon content), I deleted those. But the episodes/specials I've uploaded that had not become blocked (I believe there are 17 of them) have always been up. I uploaded things like this specifically for the pleasure for those that watch it, so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

And two significant additions to the Disney family between the version shown in the 1962 episode "Holiday Time at Disneyland" and this episode were Mary Poppins and Winnie the Pooh, which Walt Disney had not yet acquired by the "Holiday Time at Disneyland" episode, but had by this episode near the end of 1966 (though Disney had not yet done anything with Winnie the Pooh). Now the "Holiday Time at Disneyland" version has an extended version of the Christmas festivities, while that part of the Fantasy on Parade portion of this episode, like the "its a Small World" cruise, was cut for time purposes. The Fantasy on Parade portion of these Disneyland programs were so popular that in 1971, an entire performance of "Disney on Parade" from 1971 was a full hour episode onto itself.

Yes. December 5 this year will mark 114 years since Walt Disney was born. He was born on December 5, 1901.

But you can see some obvious physical changes in Walt from the host segments for the 1966-'67 season and the ones from just a season before (1965-'66). I believe these segments were done in the summer of 1966, not long before he was diagnosed with the lung cancer that killed him three days before this episode first aired. His last two on-camera segments were done on October 27, 1966, just about seven weeks before his passing.

Of course, when Lincoln made those comments in the 1860s, he was referring to the Civil War, when Americans were fighting each other on the battlefield, but now, more than anything else, politics is what may be tearing this nation apart from within, though there are likely other things contributing to that, but politics has to be the #1 reason that the nation seems to be falling apart. During the Civil War, America had Lincoln to keep this country together in it's time of it's greatest crisis. Now, there seems to be a political version of the Civil War taking place, and I'm not sure anyone seems capable of pulling the nation together through this current political crisis, which is tearing the nation apart from within.

In short, politics is merely the title of a library of books that stretch to infinity and beyond. Sorry, I really liked Toy Story. America is not falling apart, it is in a massive power struggle by left-wing factions who are really stupid, but have very smart and powerful puppet masters. They use a simple concept of divide and conquer, each faction focused on a specific social strength and destroying it. Some social strengths are so strong that they've required several specialized factions. Like the family bond, which includes loving, devoted relationships, gender identity, reproduction and of course children. Boy have they done a number on these. Politics and economics are no big deal, they can be easily repaired once the American people heal the severe wounds inflicted on them. We are fortunate in a way because the object of the power struggle is not to destabilize our economy, on the contrary it's actually amazingly stable. Our economy is kind of like Halloween, people go around in scary masks trying to frighten people. The ultimate goal is to get bags of that delicious candy (profits). As to politics, the goal is to confuse people enough so they can't see what's really going on. Don't ask me what's really going on, that will require a very sophisticated intelligence service that is extremely effective, unlike our CIA, NSA, FBI, etc., etc., and of course etc.. I first took interest in all this back in the late 60s during the anti-war protesters. There was something fishy about them, so I got really close to them, many thinking I was their best friend. They weren't shy back then, they openly admitted they were communists. The FBI was the biggest joke going. Within a week I knew they were receiving financial and other support from both The Soviet Union and Communist China. For 45 years I've watch them build their organizations and succeed at their goals. I tried like hell to warn people. I spend countless hours working on literature to show how they can be identified and defeated. I fought them every inch of the way and never lost a single battle, but a battle doesn't win a war. Anyway, I've done more than my part and paid very high prices for it, at least I can die content that I didn't sit on my ass doing nothing. I do now, I've earned it, but I still fight. Thomas

There are many reasons why the moral of this country is fading. I named politics as the #1 reason, as it controls everything else, but there are numerous others, almost too many to mention. But Lincoln was right then about being destroyed from within, and about 150 years later, those statements are equally accurate, if not for the same reasons as they were then.

***** Well, politics certainly affects everyone, but it doesn't have to control them. Now if you're referring to social organization, there's definitely truth in that. The thing I hate the most about today is how overcomplicated it is. Back in the 50s & 60s life was so much simpler and we enjoyed life so much more. And I can almost guarantee that the old-timers in the 1950s and 60s were saying that about the way things were in the early part of the 20th century. In fact, that's why the old frontier west and the Gay 90s (1890s, that is) were so popular far into the 20th century (shows such as Gunsmoke, which premiered episodes as late as 1975, are still popular today in reruns). People always want to harken back to the older days, even if they weren't around in those older days. I was born almost six years after Walt Disney died, yet I think Disney was better when Walt was around than it is now, so I'm not immune to this by any degree.

After all, freedom means justice towards all, regardless of their race, skin color, country, or creed. And that's what Abraham Lincoln stood for. So tell me. What do those words mean to you? What does the term freedom for all mean to you? What does the phrase equal opportunity mean to you? There are some people who would take those phrases and stop them into the dirt. Actually that footage was used in several promotional films well into the 70s. It wasn't until like late 70s-early 80s when they finally started using new footage of the disneyland version at the time!

No it wasn't. In fact, there were numerous other episodes of that season for which Walt filmed the opening for, the last of which didn't air until April of 1967. And the final filmings of Walt were done on October 27, 1966 (this was filmed prior to that). One was the promotional film in which he was giving plans for what was to become Walt Disney World, better known at the "EPCOT film", and the other was called "An Evening With Walt Disney", in which he was promoting "The Happiest Millionaire" and touted the future of a then-15 year old actor by the name of Kurt Russell. Those were his final appearances in front of the camera.

TherealRNO I know that. In fact, this very episode aired three days after Walt's death. And actually, the first viewers of this episode never got to see the first segment because NBC aired a special one-time tribute to Walt, something I mentioned in the info box to this upload.

Actually, I once had that episode up on my channel, but it became blocked, so I deleted it. That episode of the classic Disney series, as I had noted, is most notable for being narrated by Danny Dark (who was not credited), the voice of Superman on the Super Friends, which also debuted in 1973. But yes, I once had that episode up on my channel, but because of all the classic stuff in that episode, it eventually got blocked, so I deleted it.

No, RU-vid didn't remove it. RU-vid blocked it in most of the nations of the world, as it did several other classic Disney uploads. I was the one that removed it after it became blocked. What I do is that when I see that an upload is blocked in much of the world, I simply remove it. What the Walt Disney Company seemingly objects to is having parts of some of their animated features up. Other uploads that don't involve their animated features is something they don't seem to have a problem with, and may even enjoy the extra publicity that goes with having some of their history preserved for those to see. And a lot of the blocked content has to do with audio tracks used in the movies, which then carried over to the episodes in which they were featured.

They are still significant stockholders, worth millions, but not at any quantity to have any influence. Steve Jobs's trust, run by his widow, has at least a dozen times more shares what the Disney family might still have dispersed among them. None serve on the board or in any level of executive management, though Diane's heirs do have significant influence in the archival material as a matter of agreements between Diane and the company during the establishment and maintenance of the museum.

I've been an Annual Pass-holder for the past several years and I can assure you, they shoot in the air now! That's why I found it remarkable that they shot AT them in the video.

Well, for instance, what if the gun backfired, or if someone that wasn't supposed to get their hands on it got their hands on it? I know the chances of anything like that ever happening are extremely remote, but if anything like that ever did happen, it could lead to big trouble, not just to those on the boat, but for the theme park and possibly Disney itself because of what would likely transpire down the road.

It was originally created as an exhibit at the New York World's Fair. This was back when LBJ was President. Yes the ethnic stereotype collection with puppets of little French girls doing the can can and little Africans playing the tom tom seems a bit odd, but this was back when "gay" meant "happy" when said by somebody who did cartoons about fairies and liked to hang around little kids without being stereotyped as a probable child molester. It was a more innocent time back then.
