If you look as early as 15 seconds in, you can actually see the fire burning inside the mouth. Poor Murphy, you did not deserve this. Well done to Mickey
Not the first time these dragons have caught on fire. Must be heartbreaking for the artists and animatronic technicians that build them. Still, I'm sure they'll have it rebuilt and back up and running soon enough.
Interesting that at 0:16 it tries to breathe fire but it doesn't ignite properly. Perhaps that suggests that there was already something not right. Has it done that before?
Just had one more thought. Why is the body of something that breathes fire and is powered by flammable hydraulic fluid.... MADE FROM FLAMMABLE MATERIAL?
I'm surprised they don't have a better fire supression system for tall items like this in place like sprinkler system or even a fire boat just in case.
Wow... Looks like there was something leaking from inside the head, you can just see it occasionally just underneath the where the back of the head and top of the neck meet. The dragon is hydraulic isn't it? Depending on the fluid being used, and a lot of them are very flammable. A leak right where the flame unit is... Oooof. 😬 Glad they cast members on the set are all ok and that the public got away safely. Give the ones who tried to fight the fire a raise... actually, give all of them a raise.
If they would have given people a raise, they'd have enough people for proper maintenance and this could have been avoided. Such a shame that Disney is skimping out, but that leads to broken rides and leaking animatronics, which then catch on fire.
If you look very closely right before Murphy shoots fire and after, the fire was already started and stayed lit until it fully catches plus there is the lighter fluid spewing out, recipe for disaster and welp you see how it turned out
Yeah. If you look up festival of fantasy parade fire there should be videos on it. I saw one or two of them and although I haven’t seen the parade in person, the dragon unit that caught fire is very impressive and it did get rebuilt.
@@shayneoneill1506 you really can’t, the way these things breathe fire is with lighter fluid, which can literally catch anything on fire and on top of that, the robot it’s over 10 million dollars and with the material your thinking it’s probably going to double that and I don’t think Disney wants to spend 20 million dollars on one robot when they can use that money to build 3 different attractions
Hey there! Would I be able to feature some clips of the fire starting in an upcoming top 10 video on my channel? With on-screen credit of course! Let me know :D
Good video of the incident. I think the Imagineers need to make a still impressive, but simpler version of Murphy. This one was too complex. Arising from the stage in 35seconds in each performance , then returning, would be hard on any fuel lines or structure.
I mean It was running since 2009 with great reliability and they intended it on doing those maneuvers so they built it to be strong, this isn’t a structural / build quality issue, just a freak accident and or poor maintenance
Like fire Hellfire This fire on her hash This burning Light fluid Is turning her to ash Hellfire Bright fire Now dragon, it's your turn! Choose the Mouse or Your pyre Be his or you will burn!!
Cool. I went to Disneyland to celebrate my oldest cousin's birthday yesterday! I did see a black cloud of smoke come out at the sky which came from the dragon. Anyway, did you have fun?
Really doubt it. The team responded really fast with the characters on stage and also with the visitors. And I think a lot of people were helping each other.
