Pinocchio was my favorite ride to work when I used to in work in Fantasyland. All the Jiminny Crickets as well as all the clocks in the finale scene are all hand carved.

I’ve heard a long long time ago from a cast member that Jiminy Cricket’s conscience badge (after the Blue Fairy) is made of real gold & has multiple cameras focused on it in case anyone decided to attempt to steal it!
Well, I have fond memories of the movie. As a teen I saw it in its re-release in the 80's. I saw it b4 Snow White which I ran as projectionist. PDJ I rode as a grown man 9but was transformed into an 8 yr. old boy) LOL! I remember when New Fantasyland was being built. I went to the park in '73,'74 & 76 as a child. Early 2000's as an adult. After it appeared that Pinocchio had drowned in the end, STILL makes me cry, like a baby! Thanks Chris! for a great video!
I know you guys already made a video on this ride but can you do an updated secrets revealed on Indiana Jones? I've seen a lot of effects come back since the park reopened
Two things. One, when I was a little girl my mom took my older sister on Storybook. I cried and screamed watching them get swallowed by the whale. I thought I lost them forever. Two, (I’m going to show my age here) what ever happened to the two story attraction at the back of Tomorrowland. It had theater seating inside and the seats rotated around a stage. It was located between the Sky Tram and Captain EO. I hope I’m describing it right.
@Stacey Proctor The Tomorrowland building you are describing still stands, but is not expected to survive the next update of the land. The Carousel Theatre was built to house the Carousel of Progress show. When that attraction was moved to WDW, the America Sings show was installed to celebrate the bicentennial. The closure of America Sings coincided with the opening of Splash Mountain, where most of the animatronic characters were moved and repurposed. Since then, the building you described has no longer rotated as a theatre, but has been used for various scientific displays and character meet and greets. Relatively recent incarnations such as Innoventions and Star Wars Launch Bay come to mind.
The second floor, back when that building housed Carousel of Progress, displayed the original Epcot model (which is now seen from the Magic Kingdom's PeopleMover at Walt Disney World -- when the PeopleMover is working). The reason Carousel of Progress moved to Walt Disney World was because the sponsor, General Electric, didn't think Disneyland's mostly local visitors would want to see the show over and over again, and wanted it in Walt Disney World where there are more one-time visitors.
Thank you for this video. When I was a little girl, I went to a movie at the Fantasyland theater. I remember going, but couldn’t place where it was. It was some kind of kooky memory. Thank you for showing me the old theater. You brought back a wonderful memory, love your channel.
The filmmakers of Saving Mr Banks didn't try to change Fantasyland to a 1960s version, because they felt the version we have today more accurately reflected the Fantasyland Walt originally wanted from day one, but couldn't afford at the time. "New" Fantasyland of 1983 was inspired by original concept art and designs from the opening of the park.
I use to work on this ride when I worked there when I would do my walk thru before we opened the ride for the day the toy soldier eyes would move back and forth before we turn on audio lol creepy

Many of the marionette puppets at the end of the ride were originally created by Bob Baker Marionette Theater which is still open in Los Angeles. Bob Baker also made many of the window displays on Main Street USA.

Great video Chris! Thank you for all of your hard work in doing the research, production, and editing of this Disney magic for us! You, Amanda, and Miles have been making my day so far and that trend continues! This is my grandmother's favorite ride and she loves it. We used to call my grandfather Pinnochio in my childhood, he's dead now. For me, the ride is a cute and adorable but not one of my favorites. I love the movie so much though.
Consider a video of the top ten "Quiet Spots", were your little one can catch nap, us old fogies can rest our feet and people watch, a place where you might be able to return a phone call.
One of my favorite rides is the Storybook Canal Ride! Love going during the day and then again at night because of all the details and all the lights at night. Would love a video about that ride and both day and night versions of the ride :)
Backstage at Disneyland (at least when I was a cast member -- Galaxy's Edge takes up this area now so it may have been moved off-site or to a different backstage area), there was a special room for painting dark ride props. They paint dark ride props in a room lit with black light. If it's painted under regular light, the colors end up being WAY off. Also, a fun fact: I once went into the park after work on a REALLY slow night. Even Peter Pan's Flight didn't have other people on it -- I had several empty cars both in front of and behind me. So when flying over London in the attraction, I pulled out the flashlight I always carried at work and shone it down -- and discovered that the "clouds" over London are actually clear trash bags that glow just right under blacklight to pass as clouds. It also meant the cloud formations could change over time, so when riding on different visits, the clouds could be in different places.
Last time I was in Disneyland I noticed that one of the Jiminy Cricket figures in the toy shop on Main Street (the shop with the train that runs along the ceiling) was the same as one of the figures from the ride.
First off, great editing! Whoever is doing that: You ROCK! Also, I always found it strange that Pinocchio is still a puppet at the end of the ride...shouldn't he have transformed into a little boy? ALSO also, was the village in the film actually called "Pinocchio's Village"? If not, that would be odd!
I’m so glad you did this video! One, the story of how Chris met Amanda because he was having palpitations and did a stress test (and passed with flying colors!) and his doctor told him to go on a vacation-was the exact same thing Honest John tells Pinocchio to get him to Pleasure Island! Two, I believe you can actually see the Blue Fairy model used for the peppers ghost effect if you look to the right in that scene. Am I right? Is that a secret revealed gone too far?
They did a small upgrade recently and changed some of the dialogue. Just after you see the two puppets changing into donkeys, the guy in the box used to say "Don't be a jackass". I used to find that so funny. I can see why they changed it, but I still liked it. Luckily I was able to film it before it was changed many years ago. :)
Saving Mr. Banks is one of my favorite movies. I will never be able to see it the same again. A movie got something wrong. Lol. All jokes aside. Great video. Enjoyed it!
The movie literally is a DISNYFIED version of Disney. He was ruthless anti-union person. So everything in that movie is wrong. Stepping on people is what he really built his kingdom on.
When I was a kid, my older cousin, who didn't want to ride story book land, discouraged me by saying, "that ride is boring. you just see the inside of the whale and come back out." I believed him and didn't go on it until many years later.
there were rumors there going to make this ride into beauty and the beast because they put a rose tavern next to it. because no one even remembers this movie, sadly his ride is just not popular enough for them to keep it. i know there making a movie but the movies alot of the times do nothing for the original feature.
I uploaded a video of this ride back in '08 or '09 (first videos I know of that were shot in the rides on DSLR on RU-vid). Anyway, I got some kid that freaked out in my comments about how the ride has depictions of child slavery, and that he complains to Disney that the ride should be removed. He had somebody agree with him too. Makes me wonder how often they hear that these days, and if we'll lose this ride as well someday soon.
I don't hate Pinocchio's Daring Journey, but I can definitely sympathize with Amanda that it hurts my Mommy heart when the little guys are calling for their Mamas.

They actually had two. There was also the Mickey Mouse Club Circus (which was about where the Matterhorn is now, if I recall what I've read about it correctly). Jimmie Dodd (one of the adult Mouseketeers) was the ringmaster, and some of the Mouseketeers even performed as aerialists. You can see some old footage at watch?v=fy-gUuIQvPY. The show only lasted six weeks -- attendance wasn't what Walt expected, and he also wasn't happy with the behavior of some of the professional circus performers backstage (drinking, cussing, and gambling), and a performer's top came off during a trapeze act when she was midair. Llamas escaped and ran down Main Street, spitting on guests. One black panther reportedly attacked another and bit his paw off. The tents were taken over by Prof. George J. Keller and his Ferocious Felines (think lion tamer), and he later moved to Holidayland, a short-lived venture which stood about where the show building to the Indiana Jones Adventure does today. He was a professor of visual arts, but incorporated the "professor" title into his act. That show lasted a total of seven months between the two locations.
