Squall's Gunblade can shoot magic, sword beams and has an effective range that is longer than the curvature of the earth, I think the weapon speaks for itself. XD
Nine years later I change my mind and I decided this version of force your way it's priceless at its own way. The chorus it's exquisitely awesome with that violins
i can hardly believe my ears, this rendition is super hype and yet it's been sitting here for years. there might be something to be said about dissidia remakes but my thinking is that 8's score is already suited to the new bells and whistles. not to mention the gaps that got some extra flair here.
This theme is just so awesome its like watching Cloud,squall,sephiroth,Lightning,laguna,Tifa and all the other characters Clash in a big fight Good Vs Evil
That's so true, the only real contrasts are Squall's slight hesitation and keeping his thoughts to himself and Lightning making the decision to turn her back on her security and her career to save Serah, whereas Squall needed a little nudge from his friends to do it for Rinoa. But, the post-transformation versions of both have their only differences meet right in the middle. They're even both orphans chasing their siblings' (albeit surrogate in Squall's case) shadow throughout the game.
FF7 boss battle (especially in the remake) it's amazing... But for me THIS IS THE BEST boss battle theme. You just got pimped up when you begin to hit things with Renzokuken.

yes it will. it may have a locking mechanism to hold the parts together but from a strong impact it could be damaged. Just because she has blocked Odin's zantetsuken in the game doesn't mean that the gears or other thingamajigs wouldn't break in real life. that's my point.
Not really no. The lower part of the "scissor" is the barrel and as it is clearly shown, it not only is a retractable piece (guns require a linear and uniform barrel so that the bullet doesn't bounce), but said piece also has an internal piece that juts out, meaning that THAT specific section is not a barrel at all, but just a spike. To fire legitimately, it would have to be a plasma emitter, not a slug shooter because it can't fire anything without a barrel.
Squall, because quite honestly, it is impossible to make such a gun fire legitimately on equivalent levels. At the baser tech level, the only thing that matters is the tensile strength of the sword and Squall has the sturdier model. For the "legit" gunblade to exist, the transformation sequence cannot compromise the internal structure of the weapon. Once you get up there to energy weapons and technology, the gap closes at which point, its up for grabs because both weapons are speculative tech.

It could be plasme tech because it creates arcs of electricity on the barrel when it shoots something. Like I said before, the game uses advanced/futuristic/alien technology for their weaponry. I mean, c'mon! That could be year 20xx or something. So your whole reason of mechanics doesn't apply.
I was saying that Lightning's weapon also has no parts that would shatter. I was agreeing with you on Squall, but adding that Lightning's won't shatter, either.
It does when Final Fantasy VIII is utilizing psuedo science as the background for the series. For all we know, the laser beams and shockwaves are a product of the weapon's make and not anything distinctly magical (no magic need be junctioned to use the weapons and limit breaks). For such an argument, once you reach that point of contention, what point is there in trying to prove their superiority in anything but performance?
Said attacks require no actual magic (FFVIII pretty much states that if you aren't a sorceress, then your magic is junctioned, not inherent). As a result, everything that the weapon can do is up to its make. Now if it were to require specific "bullets" to do them, that would be a viable explanation. But the weapon has no magical properties. (Want magic weapons, go see FFVII, they got ALL the magic in them).
Actually, Vaan is also 5'7.Laguna is 5'9 and in the picture it's shorter than Lightning. That's not an official image, just the characters arts pasted in a background by someone (I mean,seriously, look at Lightning, she has an incredibly big head right there! and she is behind them! wtf!). P.S: Vaan's the best! :D
how can light's weapon be impractical? it can shoot freaking bullets. and is convertible into a sword if ever you ran out of ammo.Squall's gunblade only relies on the gun's recoil to increase it's cutting power. I definitely agree with you there, I'd love to see this on the PS3. I'm just saying the PSP isn't that bad. Of course, it'd be by far better on the PS3.
Wait, Dissidia has music that isn't exclusively trance? I distinctly hear proper percussion. I mean, it still largely sounds like it appeals to 90s ravers, but there's other stuff in there too.
And yet your point relies on the inherent fact that it is still using ridiculously speculative tech at which point it just puts it on the same page as the original gunblade. The only point of contention is that if Lightning had the tech for plasma emitters, than Squall should also have that liberty to justify his blade beams. Regardless, by the point of build alone, Squall's is still inherently better built.
