This is a cover of the Simon and Garfunkel 1960’s folk classic. S&Gs meaning was that people have lost the ability to communicate effectively and personally due to societal changes. They hear words but aren’t connected to meaning, they talk but say nothing of substance. Disturbed took this a bit further and connected this meaning to music; songs being written but the writers afraid to share their lyrics, the musicians wanting to put a voice to the lyrics; to get the message out, but a chasm of fear and loss of connection separates the two groups. In the end the boat is bridging that chasm and bringing the musicians to the songwriters
This version is great but check out the live version from the Conan show back in 2016. It is better live and you can really feel the emotion in the song better. Highly recommend
