In this video I pay a visit to the site of Norwich City Station and on the way stop off at an important public toilet #railwayhistory #trainenthusiast #railway #railwaystation #sarah #trains #norwich
Farmfoods Take note: Sponsor Sarah and her excellent videos dammit!! I've very much enjoyed this video covering one of Norwich's disused stations. There was another disused station called Norwich (Victoria). I'm sure GLovesTrains would enjoy the Toilet scene lol
Great video ! I've cycled that Marriots way quite a few times as far as Hellesdon. I've thought that a tram service as far as the NDR would be useful today. People could leave their car at a Park & Ride at the NDR and then tram it into the city.
Another fantastic video. When I lived in Norfolk, my kids were young and I was studying, so I did not spend time doing the walks and rides that would have shown me such features. Perhaps I will manage this year on a visit back. You present these videos so well, draw out and describe the interesting features and keep the viewer engaged. Yes, there is so much usable, affordable tech these days, but it takes real effort to make videos of the quality you produce.
i really enjoyed this the area where the disused Norwich city station looks amazing and shame that urianal is no longer in use & Norwich has loads of history as i visited the city myself in 2018 anyway brilliant vlog
Thanks for another enjoyable video, Sarah! I really enjoying you educating me on an area of the country I confess to knowing little about 👍Out of interest, how far was the old City Station from the present Norwich station?
A very good film. I enjoy all the historical detail. It is wonderful when you find remains of things, like the old platforms and engineering brick showing parts of old railway constructions. The old station was very grand pre WW2 it seems. I wonder if that bit of steelwork is from the old or one of the old stations?
Can't confirm whether or not it is from the old station as all I can find online is that it's made from girders (I would take a guess at it not being part of the original structure as it was originally located elsewhere in the city in a spot not associated with the station). There are other sculptures much further up Marriotts Way though that are made from old track.
@@sarahwiththetrains Well definitely not born then. You are bit older than my eldest son. It is interesting to see the old structural remains. I thought those girders might have been a part of the structure supporting the roof over the platforms in the second iteration of the station after the first was destroyed in WW2. Full credit to the crew of the crashed Liberator too, who may well have sacrificed themselves to save the local populace in the houses.
Little fun fact about Norwich city station it was one of five stations around Norwich. Norwich Victoria was third one before it closed and became a office block known as Victoria house. Sole remains of the yard are bricked up tunnels in the office carpark. Brillant vlog throughly enjoyed it.
Got plans to visit the others in the future 🙂 I did visit Victoria, Hellesdon & Whitlingham as Tiktok videos going back quite a while but I don't think I did them justice in such short clips so they need to be done again 🙂
@@sarahwiththetrains shall look forward to that when you do get time, just up the road from there the original viaduct is in tact still, in traffic use but no longer rail use after beeching closed it down back in the sixties.
Hello Sarah, Lovely bit of history and the insights of the station and where it was situated all those years ago. Thank-you for sharing your experience and enthusiasm for doing this. Also shared this on twitter as well. All the best. JASON👏⭐️🙏👍🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃
