just received my SKX009 from Singapore today. I am really pleased by the look and feel of this timepiece, will now test its accuracy. I have so far had good experience with the 7S26, so I'm optimistic

Just got the skx from long island watch.com. This thing is legit. Exactly the one in the vid these guys r legit and deliver quality. I’ve hunted for months for this watch and they were the only trustworthy retailers I could find and I’m so glad I did. Going to be going to you guys for gifts for my team. Just recently bought a skx175..I was wondering what is the difference and you broke it down wonderfully...wanted a Pepsi watch for so long and it’s the closest thing to a Rolex that I can’t afford..

the "K" in 009K means the watch was indeed made in Maylasia. the 009J is japanese made, and costs about $50 USD more than a "K" watch

Recently, I bought a used SKX175 from a person who purchased it in 2016 in your store, it has exactly the same case/movement numbers as the one you're showing here. Maybe it's even the same piece ;) (although I doubt it as the case back is positioned differently). Cheers!

Excellent video. I have owned both the 175 and the 009J. They were identical in size, for starters. Both watches markers lined up perfect, and bracelets were identical also. I got rid of 009 because I never wanted to wear it, when I could wear the 175. I am amazed by its accuracy...more accurate than any other mechanical watch I’ve owned, while being the least expensive. I will keep my 175 for the rest of my life and love wearing it.

I'm in the process of buying the last one left on shelf and for over a year now the price has gone up to $700 dollars US would be 300 so my watch collection compared to most cost me alot of bucks like the tuna sun 019 I paid 1300 brand new US 550 its funny when people call it cheap or over paying , when people in third world countries do the same jobs have the same high qualification but get paided peanuts and we still save to buy these watches. In my country buying stuff online is not encouraged because of scams and lost deliveries , so what ever price you pay is always under priced from my point of view. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent comparison. It's a matter of personal preference. I prefer the International version designation J (Made in Japan). Mine has the Arabic/English day of the week and says Made in Japan left of 6 o'clock and rear case. I just like it because it's different. Most of the ones I've seen are Spanish/English. Either way, excellent watch.

If the 173 and 175 are made for north america. Why are they not found on amazon ?. The 007 and 009 are. Im confused.

I don't want to seem too picky, but I noticed that the 175's hour and minute hands looked like it had a double paint application(the glowy stuff). it seems like it glows more also. the 2 hands. To me, the 009 looks better finished, in that respect.

My question is, I see the 009 listed at 43mm and the 175 at 42mm. Looking at your video they look exactly the same size. Is there a difference in size?

You hold them at different angles, makes the 175 look darker.

I just got a skx009 7s26 and I love it! I have a question though. Keep in mind I am new to watches. Is it normal for my watch to die early in the morning? The first night I had it I figured it just died because I had only worn it for 5-6 hours. But yesterday I wore it for close to 13 then set it on my desk around 12 am and at 2 am I put it away in my watch box. When I checked this morning I saw that it had died at 8:35 am. I could've swore the manual I said it should last ~40 hours after being worn for 8 hours.

Online I is see the 009 listed as a 42mm watch and the 175 as 41mm, is that correct or are they really the same size.

Just bought this watch seiko skx009 but the japan version. Very nice diver watch model. So excited until i found these issue/defects and it's driving me nuts 1. Alignment of the lume "6" are off to the right, but from your video the skx175 is centered perfectly. 2. Aligment is also off when showing 5, 6, 7 and 12 oclock. It is not spot on the lume 3. Date only change at 12.05am 4. Day only change at 12.50am 5. 2 language in day indicator: english and arabic. It will shows english from 3.05am to 12.50am next day then it will shows arabic from 12.50am to 3.05am. 6. Day indicator is different with the other same model. I went research at another store but they show roman numeral instead of the arabic day. Not sure which one is the genuine seiko I went to look online but it seems to that this is a common defects that we have to accept it. let me know if you have the same problem with yours. Cheers!

After watching this video a number of times, I'm convinced the 009 is a touch larger than the 175... 1 or 2mm larger perhaps..Did you happen to measure the diameter of each model? Would love to know.. Otherwise, informative video. Thank you.

Those are both made in Malaysia. I would always pick the 'Made in Japan' versions of any Japanese watch, even at a premium. Thanks for the video.

Ive heard that the screw down crown on the 009j is a bit stiff, for lack of a better word, yet the bezel of the 009j is better with no play. Are these true?

i noticed in your website that the picture of the 175 does not bare the Malaysia name and is 42mm and the 009 is 43mm. im waiting for the orient to come back first then im planning to get the 175 since it's 1mm smaller and hoping does not have the malaysia name. tnx

That thing about honouring warranties because of where you bought the watch is questionable in law If you bought a watch on holiday abroad and it went faulty you should be able to get it sorted. Seiko in the UK will certainly do this.

In this video the 175 bezel looks red & black, whereas 009 looks red & blue. Is the 175 just darker blue?

I have not ben able to find a J2 anywhere. I have learned that there are 4 versions. 009k2 and 175 as shown here. Then the J2 and a kD which is a reinport sold in japan but not made in Japan. Very confusing.

Thanks for a very informative video answering a common question.I own the Seiko SKX 175 and wanted to swap the Seiko Jubilee bracelet for the Super Jubilee bracelet shown in website Strapcode.com. Strapcode had answered a question in an Amazon link that mentioned that the Super Jubilee bracelet would fit the SKX 007 and 009 but not sure on the 175. As you mentioned that the 009 and 175 were basically the same watch except for minor markings and where the watch is marketed, can you give me your opinion on whether the bands between the 009 and 175 that you used in your video are interchangeable?Thanks....Richard

I bought my 175 for my retirement in April of 2003, after 10 years I cracked it open and adjusted the balance and now she runs app. +/-- 3-5 sec. a day.. 90 percent of the red has faded due to the sun. if u want to empress people buy a Rolex, if u want to empress yourself buy a Seiko...

K stands for Hong Kong which ships it to Malaysia for Import into the USA. Got this info from a Hong Kong Seiko employee.

The difference is one of them says it’s Monday, and one of them says it’s Tuesday.

Just bought the J version and you always get what you paid for. Growing up and seeing the "Made in Japan" marking is just pure bliss. Keeping mine forever!
