This week we take you through some flight exercises such as diversions, forced approaches, max power operations, and low vis. flying. We landed up at the Mitchell B-25 bomber crash site. Here is a link with an article about that: www.huffingtonp...
Pretty crazy story about the crash back in 1953.
Don't forget to subscribe to my channel. I post a new video every Monday at 9:00am.

Love your videos. Wish I had learned to follow my dream of being a helicopter pilot when I was younger, cuz that dream never went away but the years have : ( !! By the way you should try letting your students use a pc VR heli simulator like DCS (using VR headset and joys/hotas of course), especially students having problems with mastering hover. Apparantly many navy pilots are now using it.

Can u explain what you mean by not enough power to land?
@PilotYellow
@PilotYellow 8 лет назад
Ok so the engine only has enough power to keep the blades spinning up to a certain altitude. Because the air gets thinner as you get higher, it takes more pitch angle on the blades to get the same amount of lift. When the helicopter gets too high the engine just simply can't keep the blades spinning fast enough. When the blades start to slow down you lose lift and starts sinking. We call this "over pitching". That's when you know you are too high to land. We can do checks for that before we land to make sure we are ok.

what kind of helicopter is that?
@PilotYellow
@PilotYellow 7 лет назад
This is a Schweizer S300 CBi helicopter. It's what we are currently using as our main training helicopter. We are making a transition however over to the new Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopter which we are super excited about.

I don't know how you can land on the mountain top and resist the temptation to explore it. Its so beautiful up there. I should be starting my flight training in a Cabri approximately 2 weeks from now. Can't wait.
@PilotYellow
@PilotYellow 7 лет назад
Matt hey wow that's fantastic. Where are you doing your training in the Cabri? I know you'll love it. We are excited about getting into it as well. Ya the urge to just hang out all day is pretty tough to resist. Just a busy schedule keeping me from it. Sometimes I get lucky and have a charter or something up there and I get to just hang out and wonder around. Also sometimes with students we have a bit of extra time in the day so we shut down and explore. Pretty awesome though.

I'll be flying out of south Louisiana. VERY flat land mind you, but I've been flying fixed wing here for years and its super exciting to transition into rotor craft. Hoping to start my uphill battle and finally open the door to a long career. Any chance you have at exploring those areas are a gift, be safe and enjoy!

how are you not able to climb up to the top of the mountain without help of wind up mount robby
@PilotYellow
@PilotYellow 7 лет назад
In the Schweizer depending on the temperature and the weight we are loaded to, sometimes we don't have enough power to get up there. The wind gives us extra lift.

Looks amazing great videos. Can a U.S. citizen take your course for a commercial license or are the U.S. regulations different? The scenery/experience of your location alone makes it very desirable.
@PilotYellow
@PilotYellow 7 лет назад
sirus312 yes you can take our course. There is no problem at all. You are able to come to Canada as a visitor for up to 6 months without a visa. Our course is only 4 months long. Once you have the Canadian licence you can convert to the US license as long as you meet the hour requirements.
