Awesome stuff! My portfolio just surpassed the coveted ~$1m mark! Biggest positions VOO, VTI, SCHD, VYM, and now looking to build up DRGO alongside my individual stocks. I got ~$48800 divs last year in taxable divs. Q2 taxable divs this year was ~$17k this year. Get started and don't look back.

If one is in their early 40s and just started investing (have 401k from work). Should they just focus on growth etfs since it will be too late for them to see real benefits with dividends? I put in a fair amount every month but it's been nothing but down down down... Sooooo complicated
@ShelleyfromCali
@ShelleyfromCali 16 дней назад
Hi, I wouldn't say early 40's is 'too late' for anything related to investing. If you have at least 20 years left to put money into the market then I think growth is a nice way to lean. I would still have a balance of the two. I think value/dividends is good to have at any age in any market (with at least a portion of the portfolio). It may seem daunting at first but having guidance from a CFA is a useful alternative. This system has proven effective for me over the last three years! Especially with having enough time, spending time with my friends and family and allowing the chance to do my hobbies!

Dear Angelo, HSBC does not pay dividends in January, April, July & October but in February, May, August & November. I know because I have the MSCI World one & it just paid this week.
@AngeloColomboFi
@AngeloColomboFi 10 месяцев назад
Damn, you're right. The announcement & ex-date is in Jan, Apr, Jul & Oct, but the dividend is actually paid out the following month. Luckily the two other ETFs still pay out the same month dividends are announced. Sorry about that, seems like every site I checked about the HSBC ETFs got it wrong, only IB is displaying the dates correctly.

@@AngeloColomboFi @family_finance you could replace the HSBC ETF's with WTEQ (WisdomTree Global Quality Dividend Growth) which pays out twice a year (Jan+Jul). With VWRL/VHYL/TDIV+FGEQ+WTEQ you have 10 months of dividend-payouts.

Hi my idea on making a pie will be: 3/3 with 33% on every 1/3 like 1) Foundational U.S. ETF - VOO or VTI 2) High Risk High Reward - Growth ETF (VUG, SCHG, or QQQM) 3) Safe/ Stability - Dividend ETF (SCHD or VYM) # I need to find subtitudes for them in europe or Should i just focus on one Etf like the FTSE All-World and chill? Hi Angelo. Thanks for the always good discussed topics for us investors in Europe. Also to comment very nice progress you have. I personally do not think so much on being excited on receiving the dividends, but once the time comes, I do not want to sell anything, but rather receive the cash flow and enjoy life. Accumulating for me means more I need still to sell shares, pay taxes, looking how the money on the account is decreasing which I don't believe anyone of us would like to see. But it's only my view at the moment and for now I will continue with buying good dividend stocks and ETF's for my portfolio. Cheers and keep up the good work.

Thank you David, also for sharing your perspective. I'm sure that us starting to withdraw some money by selling some accumulating shares regularly in retirement will feel strange at the beginning, but I'm sure we'll get used to it after a while. But I understand why you'd prefer not needing to do that.

Hello Angelo! Your videos are very informative. I have a question or rather two questions. I just started my "self financial education" as I want to invest in ETFs for improving my financial situation in my older years. My first concern/question is regarding the composition of the VWCE or similar ETFs. I think that the "big 7 stocks" are overrated and therfore would like to reduce their weight by ading some other ETFs. I put my eye on VGWE and VWCG. Both have higher dividend yields, lower growth rates but seem to be made out of more "mature" or stable companies. Either worldwide or from Europe. And here is my second problem. I couldn not find find any free tools to clearly see the overlaping betwen this ETFs. Can you offer some advice? Best regards, Vid

Excellent video... I also prefer portfolio #2. In fact, my own portfolio is quite similar. An important fact you didn't mention is that every ETF in portfolio #2 has a nicely growing dividend payout of about 6% p.a. Meaning, your absolute dividend payout doubles every 12 years or so, without needing to invest more money.

When u decide after many years of investing in accumulating ETF that now u would like to receive monthly dividends , ist that an option u choose in the broker app to receive or accumulate dividends? Or u must then sell all ur Etfs and direct buy another ones the pay monthly ?!
@AngeloColomboFi
@AngeloColomboFi 10 месяцев назад
You would have to sell & switch to different ETFs if that was important to you. But that would make no sense, since fees for selling are so low nowadays using low-cost brokers like IB and Trade Republic. Thus, you can just sell a percentage of your accumulating ETF each year (eg. its reinvested dividend yield) to the same effect, while being a lot more tax-efficient long-term in most European countries: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b_TXq9H8prQ.html

Hi Angelo, thank you for the great content. What do you think about dividend ETFs being less volatile and so less risky, especially in a market corection period? Do you think they can be used as a hedge in addition to VWCE that has more weight in Tech? Does it make sence to build 2 ETFs portfolio between VWCE and VHYL in your opinion? The main goal is not the dividents but to lower risk and to have part of the advantage in the retirement phase where you get dividends instead of selling part of your portfolio.

hey, dont forget that if you live in Belgium you don't have to pay withholding tax (30%) on the first €840 dividends that you receive on an annual basis. if you are married or you have a legal cohabitation this amount from €840 can go up to €1.680 , because when you are in one of those situations you can choose to fill in one personal tax file instead of two. Furthermore it is very important to tell this as well; you will pay the withholding tax from 30%, but you get it back from your personal tax. so you pay it, but you always get it back through your persontal tax. You just need to keep the documents you get from your broker. Also, i know that you don't have to believe anyone on the internet, but oyu can look this up for sure! ps: my english is okay, but i can explain this much better in Dutch, sorry!

Dear Angelo, First of all I appreciate your nicely described videos. Please keep it up. And it’s better to mention that my portfolio also looks like yours portfolio 2. I am investing on, 1. Vanguard Funds PLC - Vanguard FTSE All World UCITS ETF (DIS) 2. Fidelity US Quality Income UCITS ETF Income USD Shares (DIS) 3. iShares Core MSCI World UCITS ETF (ACC). Is it okay? or should I change little bit? Because I just started last month so still I can do rearrange. My 2nd question is, there are lots of overlap between these ETF. Is it okay? Please let me know, I will be thankful to hear from you.
@AngeloColomboFi
@AngeloColomboFi 8 месяцев назад
Thank you! It's for you to decide if it's ok, I can't tell you that. If you wanted additional US exposure with a quality/dividend factor (US quality income) and to reduce your Emerging Markets exposure overall compared to just buying the FTSE All-World (by adding the MSCI World), then you achieved that. In my opinion a FTSE All-World on its own is already enough and easier to stick to long-term as a strategy, but it's up to you in the end :)

Thank you! Interesting, then you're clearly an income-focused investor :) For that style of investing, I think I would add 10-20% P2P (eg. Not financial advice though, just my 2 cents.

Obviously I still prefer the latter since I don't like investments that are that concentrated on one country/strategy, but I still recommend zooming out when reviewing an ETFs performance.

A question about USD ETFs: If the USD devalues compared to the Euro, the these if ETFs will lose value right?
@AngeloColomboFi
@AngeloColomboFi 9 месяцев назад
USD is the fund currency, which is irrelevant since the stocks within are diversified globally (in many different currencies). Yes if the USD loses value against the EUR, that will likely negatively impact ETF performance in € short-term, since most global ETFs have a US share of 60% or so. But long-term it's not worth worrying about (or wasting high fees hedging against), since it's normal for currencies to fluctuate in value.

Since I plan to be a European long term investor, as I live in Greece, I want to choose the appropriate Listing Stock Exchange of the ETF. Currently, IBKR gives me to options for the S&P500, LSEETF and BVME.ETF. I understand that the first is exchanged in Dollars and the second one in Euros. Also, I understand that the dividends that will be reinvested would be in Dollars.? So my question is the following. Does it matter which Stoch Exchange I choose if I want to not pay any currency exchange fees? In what currency should I trade, and is there a way to choose a different Stock Exchange if it is more beneficial to me, even though IBKR provides me only those two options? The fidelity one and HSBC for example won't come up either in TR. Anyways thanks for helping me out Angelo, really appreciate it much 🙏

Great video! I have one question, I am beginner in investing in stocks and etfs, and I would like to invest in SCHD etf, however I am located in Europe just like you, which ETF can we substitute? What do you think about FUSD or IUKD? Otherwise please suggest me a good high dividend etf, as I am planning to invest 25-33% of my portfolio on dividends. Thanks!

Thank you! If you only want US stocks like SCHD, then FUSD could be a good option, while if you want to invest globally (with a higher dividend yield), then the two others I mentioned FGEQ and VHYL/VGWD might be worth looking at! IUKD only invests in UK stocks, so that's not a viable alternative in my opinion.

@@AngeloColomboFi thanks for the reply! It seems lime both Fusd and fgeq doesnt have a huge yield, do you know any other alternative? Or what do you think about ivesting in high dividend stocks and not etfs? For example, O, Coca cola, Starbucks etc

I have NOK as my currency and it experience its weak days versus Euro and USD. All the ETFs you suggested in Europe are in Euro or USD. should i still buy them now and enter the ETF investment although I am paring a high price for Euro/ USD? Is there any ETF with my lokal currency?
@AngeloColomboFi
@AngeloColomboFi 9 месяцев назад
The thing is, even if you buy the ETF in your home currency, you'll still pay the same price for each share - since it doesn't change the value of the underlying stocks in each currency.

For someone who only wants to invest in established dividend paying companies (for example lower volatility) to only buy 1 accumulating didivend ETF and sell 1000 EUR worth of it each month? Simpler and might also be better for tax reasons in some cases.

The Acc. WisdomTree Global Quality Dividend Growth ETF (WTEM on IB and Trade Republic) could be a worthwhile option for that strategy :)

Sorry Angelo but don’t you have some REITs ETFs in EUR €, I saw that most of them have USD as a currency… there is currency risk there.

The fund currency (USD) is irrelevant, but yes you're exposed to currency risk/opportunity whenever you invest globally

With FGEQ things are quite tech (read: Apple) heavy.
@AngeloColomboFi
@AngeloColomboFi 10 месяцев назад
True, but that's simply due to technology stocks having a higher weight by market cap in the stock market right now (even higher at 23,8% in the MSCI World vs. 21,36% in the FGEQ).

story time: If a person come across a sum of 450K EUR he can just buy 3 small apartments and rent each one of them for 600 EUR, then he gets a monthly "dividend" of 1800 EUR... almost a thousand more than what he would have gotten from a similar cash amount invested in a portfolio. since real estate always appreciate in value (even shit apartments in less nicer neighborhood) so it works exactly as buying a stock which appreciate in value. so what is the thing with ETFs? now explain to me why I am a complete idiot and to change my mind ?

Real estate is not a passive investment, ETF's well. And with one click, you get your money back. With real estate, it's a bit more complicated.

That's simply because US stocks have been outperforming. It's not a bad pick though if you want US dividend stocks.

Amazing video, thank you 😊 I prefer the divident investments because the income, even if it is low, it is motivating me to stick to the plan. Not sure if it is the right thing to do but it is better than doing nothing 😊

On Interactive Brokers they pay out in USD since that's the fund currency and you can hold USD there directly (or convert it to € yourself), while on other brokers like Trade Republic dividend payments are converted to € and paid out to your account in €.
