Angela that makes me so happy! I’m glad this was thorough and helpful! From once need to another, details matter! 😆 I have a degree in Biology, so I can totally relate. Was this your first year growing dahlias?
Good morning Claudia, Greetings from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 going up to 85°F today. I have never grown Dalhias, but I just uploaded a video on repotting My Amaryllis. Happy Spring Planting🌿💚🌿
The best dahlia dividing video I have seen yet! I would love to find out where I can get the box you used to disinfect your tools. I have searched with no success. Please help!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I’m so happy to hear this was helpful. 💗 I have seen them on Amazon! Search “harvest more scissor scrubber” and they should come up. If you don’t find it, let me know and I will direct you!
Thank you for the excellent tutorial! I grew my first dahlias from seed last year and they produced excellent bunches of tubers. I wish I would have seen your video before I potted mine up last week. I was so frustrated 😂 trying to figure out how to divide that I just potted them intact. 🌸
Thank you for watching. 😊 Honestly, I would still plant it. Sometimes it could be rot but I’ve noticed that escalates pretty quick so it’s easy to notice. Other times if they’re a bit wrinkly and soft, then they are just dehydrated.
Thank you for another very informative video. Of the different methods used to store the tubers, what do you think of the saran wrap method ? Would you be using this method again and would you recommend it to beginners?
Good question Ella! I found the ones I wrap individually in saran wrap did better then wrapping multiple ones. I like this method because it saves me a lot space, however I do think for me they stay plumper in the vermiculite. I would say that is still my favorite way to store them.
If you are a beginner, maybe try a few and use the vermiculite for the rest. Remember to check on them every 3 weeks to make sure they aren’t rotting or shrinking.
Hi Sandi! I have linked it in the description box. It’s a scissor scrubber, you can find it on Amazon. The one I am using was from a local garden center. Let me know if that helps. 🥰
Awesome! Let me know how it works for you! It’s just a handy thing to dip your sheers into when you’re doing big jobs. I still find myself having to deep clean them, but it works great as a little reservoir to hold the alcohol to disinfect my tools.
