Really happy to hear your experience with the R5 underwater has been overwhelmingly positive. How similar is the handling to your c200 one you add the extra mass of the WACP? For filming, the more streamlined shape of the cinema housings and the ability to more finely time the boyancy and trim without adding external floats seems like it would be an advantage over the r5 housing. Has that been your experience? Would you recommend the r5 over a nautical cinema housing for primarily video shooters?

With the WACP it is closer to the trim of the C200 for example. I still give the win in trim and handling to the C200 but the R5 is absolutely able to be handled super steady and smooth too. Also the IBIS is a big win for the R5. In conclusion I think the R5 ist the ideal Allrounder and also cheaper Solution, C200 is the go to for for serious and long term video shoots

Didn't you overheat during the shooting?

Have you tried taking still from 8k video? That was the first feature that excites me about the R5 for underwater. We all know subjects underwater aren’t always the best model and when they said you can pull high quality stills from 8k video...I imagined underwater taking 20 second videos of a shark passing and then pulling frames. Have you tried? Thoughts?

Yes I did, it is amazing. Totally usable. The only thing to Concorde doing this, you have a Maximum of 17:9 aspect ratio. In order to frame it for a 4:3 you need to crop a little. But even then you still end up with around 30MP

You had mentioned that you use an external monitor. Do you just shoot video or do you use it for images also. Thanks

Hey Stan. We absolutely use it for images... I have personally done that for almost 10 years now... coming from only using viewfinders. Using a monitor is of course a lot more expensive, but with the new Shinobi from Nauticam, you can get a high quality monitor system for 2K Euro... and to me that is totally worth the money. You get SUCH better view and ability to compose your image, and a lot better overview of the scenery. It simply increases your ability to work! (and no... there is no time lack from the transfer of the images to the monitor... it is real time)
