I'm writing a paper over player piano rolls for my audio preservation class, and this video has me completely MESMERIZED. It really shows of the track bar really well. Definitely helped me understand the piano a little bit better.
+James Vander Vegt I deleted my comment because, in watching the keys, it could indeed have been played by one player - with a much wider reach that my hand, though. :-)
I used to always watch the Beverly Hillbillies with my Grandpa, and to this day I can't think of the lyrics any different then "I wish I was in Dixie, away from Pearl in Dixie!" Granny Clampet was singing that as cousin Pearl and Jed were in the other room playing Dixie on the piano.
Pixnut: I don't know of any source for this arrangement. This was probably JL Cook's arrangement, as were much of his work during the years he was doing player piano rolls.
+win95/C:/Classic Computing Guy Eh. Don't worry, the game died in a horrible fire, after some controversy was sparked about the developer abusing his powers.
Thank you so much for posting this!! I think these pianos are so freaking cool!!! Someday, I'm going to have a big house and I'm going to put one of these in my hubby's man cave!! LOL
This is what made or history what it is today. People who have nothing to do but bitch about things need to remember that it was things like this which helped create what we have today. They should be promoting or heritage and not trying to get rid of it. We should be proud to support or heritage not cut it down. I am sorry to say this but today's generation has no self worth or pride in what made what they have today. Today's generation is self centered, selfish and has NO respect for anything.
+MrArticSwing - Study your history and then answer that question. Keywords to study "States Rights", "10th Amendment", "Federalism". I'll be checking back for your reply...
+drummerglenchin very enough, I agree. Even if the confederates had won the war, slavery was becoming such a primitive thing that it would have dissipated eventually.
Advance The Flag of Dixie! Hurrah! Hurrah! For Dixie's land we take our Stand, and Live or Die, for Dixie! To Arms, To Arms, and Conquer Peace for Dixie! To Arms, To Arms, and Conquer Peace for Dixie!
