Have you ever called out a Termite company for a termite service quote? Mine was over $1200! After a little research, I ordered my own Termidor from www.domyownpestcontrol.com and did my own treatment for under $150. This treatment is good for at least 10 years but I will monitor the perimeter of my home annually to check for mud tubes or other signs of termite activity. The question in the south is never IF there will be termites around your house, its WHEN will they come around. You want to make sure you are prepared.
Complete this treatment at your own risk. Use proper safety precautions. As always, READ THE LABEL. This video in no way guarantees the effectiveness of the termite treatment you complete on your home.

I had a service man come to my house and give me a free estimate. Luckily he used to work with my dad at a previous job and told me how to do the job myself. Just dig a trench around the house like you did and add five gallons of water to what the instructions are told to add on the termidor. Then what I did was buy some termite stix sold at your local home depot or lowes. These termite stx are planted around your house and also are bait stations to the termites. They also let you know if the termites are feeding on it my a small stick going up on it when they start eating it. That's how I found at I had termites on the first place. Now no termites whatsover, thanks for posting. Good luck!

Good Video. Also, Taurus SC is the exact same product but cheaper. It is the generic version with the exact same active ingredients. Don't be fooled by the brand name. It is the same exact thing. Also, I worked for Terminix. I will say that when you do your back fill, it is better to pour that treatment too than spray the top. Yes, that is a bit nitpicky but if you really want to do it professional that is what the professionals do.

Christopher Wright Thanks for the tips. Taurus SC is a great alternative. I bought mine on sale so it was be same price at the time. For video purposes I wanted the name brand so home owners would see they can actually get the exact brand their pros will say they are using. Good idea to pour over the back fill instead of spraying it.

Taurus SC stops the ants. I respray the perimeter of our home about every 3 months at the 0.8 oz a gallon rate. If you see ants before you spray, they will be gone in 2 days.
@stockscalper
@stockscalper 5 лет назад
@@phatheaded1 It kills ants, even carpenter ants. The instructions say to spray a band 1 foot in width on the house and also a 1 foot band on the grass/ground around the house. This needs to be repeated every six months. Carpenter and other ants are surface creatures so you need to treat them this way. Termites are subterranean so you need to ether dig a trench and apply Termidor/Taurus SC or install termite stations.

You did good job making the video and treatment is partially correct. 1. Drilling concrete you must use a ground breaker box Incase you hit plumbing, Wire or possibly a Tension cable in foundation. if you hit these it can cost more than a professional termite treatment and into the thousands $$. 2. With hard clay in Texas you will have to use a soil injection rod to break through they clay to inject a gallon or Termidor into the concrete hole. 3. If you sell your home do it yourself Termite treatment will not be accepted unless done by a professional. 4. Interior of all plumbing will need to be treated with Termidor foam. 5. Professional offer full warranty that can be transferred to new ownership if house is sold. If you can’t offered a professional Termite treatment by all means he is correct but follow these steps and do not drill with out a ground breaker box I’ve been in the industry 30 years and seen horrible disasters.

You can buy the sentricon bait station on ebay for about 10 bucks a station. My house will be trenched and baited. I have two infestation since I have lived here. One while I was under contract with a Pest control company, who only used the bait stations. If you live in the southeast, you need to do everything to stop termites.

A lot of pest control professionals don’t recommend bait stations. Bait stations tend to call in termites where there weren’t any before. If you don’t want termites, don’t ring the dinner bell (install bait stations).

The sentricon stations are a rip off if you go thru a pest control company. They charged me 300 to install and 300 a year to inspect. The 300 I paid the first year basically covered the cost of the stations and installation for the pest control company. The bait last indefinate period . My bait was 3 years old when they removed it and it still was good. It's measured with a ring gauge to check the diameter, mine was still near full diameter. Anyway, the three hundred a year is all gravy for the pest control company. They check the bait once a year, which takes about 30 minutes. When I cancelled the service, they came and pulled all the stations up, leaving the holes. which made it easy for me to install my own stations. Now I am saving 300 a year. I plan on trenching my house soon like shown..
@ryanbuckner2405
@ryanbuckner2405 5 лет назад
Trenching the house would be useless because the sentricon stations, if that's what you are still using, are a far superior method of termite control if you keep the bait properly maintained.

@ronjonix
@ronjonix 2 года назад
@@ryanbuckner2405 Sentricon bait systems are not a superior method. Your house is also a termite bait - you are hoping the termites don't find. Also, some of the sentricon systems only have bait and not the termite killer, which means you are attracting termites near your house. This is why termite companies often offer you both the barrier treatment and the sentricon type systems. A correctly applied barrier treatment keeps them from getting to your home - mission accomplished.
@ryanbuckner2405
@ryanbuckner2405 2 года назад
@@ronjonix I respectfully disagree. I do termite control for a living. Modern sentricon has a synthetic wood compound blended with fipronil. I have been inspecting homes for 10 years and have only found termites in 2 houses that had sentricon around them. In both of those cases there were significant moisture issues under and around the home. Sentricon is the most effective termite control available on the market.

I am not trying to sell anyone anything I only operate in one state. I will give you a great pro tip on how to get the best treatment and price from a professional though. This did not save you money. He put your home at risk because there is no way he or you has the right tools to spray the slabs after drilling holes and there is an art to doing it. And it does nothing to actually protect your home with an insurance policy for when this half way treatment fails. This is not how it's done now . There is an injection machine that does all the chemical mixture and injects it right into the soil without trenching with no damage to the yard or flower beds and no need to drill any holes. Do yourself a favor and this is not something out cut corners on. This cost me over $22,000 on my first home with one of these dyi treatments for the outer barrier and Terminex treated the soil while it was being built. Get professional help . In Alabama and Georgia Tabor Pest Control is great!

I have performed this technique using the Taurus product. To help augment the termaticide getting to the right places on deeper areas and where you have basements, I used a piece of rebar with a rotary hammer drill and a fence puller to ensure it was reaching the right places. I came out 6 inches with the trench and every 12 inches I put in the rebar to create vertical holes for the solution to channel. It is laborious, I did it in a weekend, but saved a lot of money. It works. I did not know it lasted 10 years. I thought more along the lines of 4. In my garage on the slab, I did drill in the slab the holes and when around with a sprayer of termatacide and filled them. I leave them open and still have yet to see any bugs coming in. You can use a quick patch compound to cover them, but I left them open for ease of access. Seems to work great.

Thanks for the informative video! I have found one spot of a basement window with wood rot/ termites. Just saw a few. Inside that window has a little wood rot as well. All other wood on interior basement appears to be ok, just the outside wood that was under dirt. Do you think it is suitable to use taurus/ termidor just on that one side of the home if hat has the window? Thinking I might put termite stix around home to see if it detects any other termite around house. I'd like to put a window well where the bottom of the window was touching ground level to make it up to code. Not sure how to go about that with termidor. Window well will be small/ 18" height total, with some above ground of course. Have to go deeper for pea gravel and such. Any advise? Thanks

This product is said to be preventative but can also be used to kill active termites. The non-repellant nature of this product promotes the extermination of the entire swarm or colony. If you had this treatment applied to your home, it is said to work for over 10 years to prevent termites from getting into your homes. Frpm what I have read, swarmers are not actively feeding so they may not come into contact with the perimeter treatment before moving on to another location.

Surely there mist be a less destructive way to carry a barrier around the home.

The formula works out to a mere four gallons per ten feet and yet all the termite wonks insist you need to trench. The opposing termite wonks say the backfill is not treated, and is therefore a bridge over your treated area. I suggest a different solution. I am not a pro that has to treat and move on, saving money by moving fast. I do not intend to move fast, I mix my 0.8 mixture and pour the solution over the foundation at the rate that it will absorb it where it is poured. That might take you a bit longer but, hey, it is going to soak down through the soil and it beats the hell out of trenching. Example: Average internet guru says trench the 80 feet along the back of your house and apply four gallons every ten feet. Ok, great. What if I instead mix eight four gallon batches and spread the fluid across the 80 feet eight times, letting it soak in? I GET THE SAME COVERAGE, AND AVOID ALL THAT DIGGING BECAUSE i AM PATIENT. Go ahead haters, if I pour it at a rate the soil can take it, tell me how I didn't get it right. Bottom line: If it is added to the soil at a rate the soil can absorb, you needn't trench, but if it bunches up and runs off, it won't penetrate as deeply. PS: Some soils have hard clays and the liquid could move laterally below the soil. Just hit it every four inches with a digging bar and go at it, it's not rocket sceince.

Do you think I need to do the treatment around my house as well even though I did not find any termites near the house? Thanks in advance.

@@TightWadDIY Oh, thank you. And what if I would drill deep holes in a dirt and clay in between the wall and timber instead? Like it has to be done with concrete surfaces, but without concrete? @persuadedinchrist
@persuadedinchrist 8 лет назад
+TightWadRepairs I would highly recommend using neoprene gloves when mixing since the fipronil has a dermal toxicity the same as ingestion, which means if you get it on your hand it is the same as putting it on your tongue there also is NO Antidote for poisoning with Termidor. Thus the reason the label says to be used by an authorized trained technician and to answer the question about the crawl, trenching around each of your piers would be in compliance with the perimeter plus treatment label, not requiring the inside wall to be treated, just the perimeter plus the piers plus full treatment including drilling 2 feet on each side of activity; Hope that helps. Also on pump sprayer, make sure your PSI is no greater than 25 PSI because if it is, then the active ingredient will turn into a gas at the tip and drift off in the air and you will be putting down just dirty water. When verticle drilling into attached slabs, the rate of application is still 4 gallongs per 10 linear feet, so you would put 2/5ths of a gallon per hole, not one gallon as stated in video. normally the verticle drill holes require to be injected with some amount of pressure to get enough product in that area, gravity and a funnel won't allow you to get that much chemical in the area. It's cheaper to treat it than let them eat it. No sense risking it on a DIY. keep calling and you will find a reasonable priced company. a good price would be $2.50 per linear foot to have it done right and come with a guarantee.... just my opinion, it is biased due to being in the termite business for 24 years.

For the slab you cant get away with drilling the slab then mixing thermidor and then pouring the chemical into each holes using a funnel lol you need a long wand attachment to your sprayer that runs off of a motor in the back of your truck with a tank called a skid. You need that because of the psi that pushes the chemical into the hole but it will get the earth/soil under the slab a better efficient treatment than just pouring into a hole using a funnel how is pouring it into a hole going to spread or soak under the slab?? Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out. Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!
