DIY - 2014 Opel Corsa D 1.4: Change the drive belt and tensioner

Our little Corsa was 3 years overdue for having its drive belt (serpentine or accessory belt) changed. Given the age, we decided to also change the tensioner - which proved to be a good idea, since the tensioner pulley bearing was on its way out. This job must be done with extra care, since it requires the removal of the right-side engine mount and bracket in order to make the belt and tensioner more accessible.
The OE part numbers are as follows:
- Tensioner: GM 1340267 / 55565236
- Drive belt: GM 1340017 / 55562422

I'm on this topic now. The quote I received directly in Rüsselsheim from Opel is 700€ in 2024. Thanks for your video !!!

You're very welcome! This is one of the main reasons I make these videos - so that folks can maintain their cars without spending a fortune at the dealer 🙂

Thank you for making this video, it is very in depth but explained in a manner you can easily understand, brilliant. Also audio is very clear and no stupid music. Thanks again 😊

Thanks, another great video. Other videos I've looked at on this subject tend to gloss over the detail of having to jack the engine up and down to get the long bolts out. You demonstrate exactly what needs to be done.

Brilliant video, very informative and helpful. My sons 1.2 Corsa C Twinport recently had a shredded fanbelt/serpentine belt caused by a failed tensioner that exploded but luckily hasnt seemed to cause any other damage. Have watched a few RU-vid videos and yours is the best so far.

You're welcome! The part numbers for the belt and tensioner are in the video's description. For the actual tools please go through the video, as I've described each tool and bit size the first time I needed to use it and I don't recall the full list from the top of my head.

Great video! One question, I have a 2011 corsa with 1.2 XER engine and I would ask to you if tightening torques for the engine mount are the same as the 1.4 engine? Thanks!
@TheMissingBolt
@TheMissingBolt Год назад
Hello! Yes, the tightening torques and angles for both mounts are the same for the 1.2 and 1.4 engines (as per the Haynes manual).

thanks man mine also need to change it i need first remove belt and i need to check my ac noice 😢 no noice then it's belts problem and my belt little cracks update i just change the belt but i got same noice when my AC turn on my tensioner is not much old 2022 i change it ,,, do i know whats the problem is it?// thanks
@TheMissingBolt
@TheMissingBolt 3 месяца назад
When the AC turns on, its clutch engages and places further resistance on the belt. It's best to check with a local mechanic, but keep in mind that it's normal for an AC compressor that's engaged to make noise (up to a certain limit).
@GamingMate

@@TheMissingBolthey thanks for the reply..the mechanic do it 2 times when got noice 2023 but same problem not fixed wasted 500€ i think 😢 still in problem... i changed my self belt but nothing happened same noice when i drive 2nd gear it's coming noice ...some times engine turn off when i trying to stop color light 🚨...but it's every problem coming only when I turn on AC 😢😢

If you have exactly the same engine (A14XER) then yes, the same procedure applies.

When it has to be changed? I mean, how often it changes? Every 5 years, 8 years, every "X" kilometers? Thanxs.

@@FURY1958 Maybe just a little mean, mea culpa for that 😀 But I do put in the effort to give the recommended parts changing intervals at the beginning of almost all videos and questions similar to yours tell me that few people actually take their time to watch even those first few minutes 😔

@@TheMissingBolt I appreciate your job for that. In fact I must say thank you, because I always did it by age, unknowing by kilometers, which you gave me the right answer finally. We're humans after all and it's good to accept we make mistakes sometimes, even me. So, no hard feelings by my part.

How do you remove the alternater itself please?
@TheMissingBolt
@TheMissingBolt 8 месяцев назад
I don't know what engine you have, so I can't give you the exact details unfortunately. I'll make a video about how to change the alternator if mine ever fails, but so far it's still going strong. I found some technical documentation online which might help: workshop-manuals.com/vauxhall/corsa-d/j__engine_and_engine_aggregates/engine_electrics/alternator/repair_instructions/alternator_remove_and_install/

@TheMissingBolt
@TheMissingBolt 11 месяцев назад
