Ants are pesky little insects, aren’t they? Whether in your kitchen, bathroom or anywhere else around the house, you certainly don’t want them having free reign of the place. Sure you can go down to the hardware store and buy some pesticide, but before you do you may want to check out this video where Lou shows us how to make a DIY ant killer that works really well.

The basic ingredients to our DIY ant killer are a combination of something sweet, water, and Borax, which is a detergent. Here’s the step by step on how to make and use our Borax ant killer recipe:
● Take an aluminum tin or similar container and pour in some Borax - this should make up ⅔ of the final mixture
● Add something sweet like sugar, honey or even corn syrup (the ants love the stuff!)
● Next mix in some water, just enough to thin it out a bit to make a nice paste
● Now that you have your paste, take an old container lid (like those take out cups) and cut off the rim so it’s a smooth surface all around
● Once you determine where the ants might be coming from, place the container lid down and apply the paste on top (not too much)
WARNING! The Borax mixture can be harmful to household pets if ingested so be sure to protect them accordingly. While it may not kill them, it may make them ill.
● If you have larger ants, like carpenter ants, you may also want to mix in some small pieces of bread and some peanut butter as they typically look for a more hearty treat
Once the ants bring the mixture back to the hive (and the Queen) they’ll eliminate the problem all on their own.
