Freddy installs a big brake kit on his 1JZGTE MKIII Supra, using Mercedes s500 brembos, 350 rotors and AE86 brake lines (MK3 supra brake hoses also fit after numerous reports). This same brake upgrade should work on most for applications where mustang cobra brakes are a direct bolt on as well, because cobra brakes directly bolt onto supras.

I think you guys are great! Just like myself lol. Poor man wanting to make my car better and better, ive just started big turbo build on my car after buying the parts slowly over a period of about 6 months. Im modding a vw tdi engine so its a diesel maybe something you guys wouldnt mod but you guys are still cool. Ive just finished my brake install and started on the engine

Btw if you were to Turbo the Lexus look into the TD04 15T Turbo charger, They came stock on SAAB 9-5 aero and viggen and are known to be cheap reliable and reeeaally good on spool and output! You van get like 340hp easy out of a 2.0 4 banger with one of those! :)

I would highly recommend hub rings... 68 to 60.1 mm to center the rotors . Those rotors will flop around on the studs because they don't rest on the hub . ;). Madsupra88 - Saif

Why? Because if you buy a box of washers, you will find many different thicknesses out of the same batch. They are typicly also dished and/or distorted a little too. Plain washers are not designed, or meant to be used as spacers, they are meant to keep bolts/nuts from sinking into the material they are being used on, PERIOD!. Probably why you had to put an extra washer on one side. McMaster car has precission shims, figure out what you need, and use them. Here are their steel shim selection, in 1/2" ID (will work fine with 12mm bolts). www.mcmaster.com/#standard-shims/=xwl81f And they are cheap! - up to 1/8" are a pack of 10 for $5. They also have the shims in stainless, and the 12mm x 1.5 bolts or socket head cap screws.

Back again after a little more research and looking at your video there seems to be a hub centric ring that's needed to fill the space between center and rotor. 60.1mm - 68.0 mm if I'm completely correct.

i drove around for a year or two with no hub rings with no ill effects, i did eventually get rings because someone recommended and i saw no harm in getting them. I dont remember the size though :(

For the rear I went with Brake Rotors REAR from a Subaru IMPREZA 05-07 WRX STI. Had to get the centre holes machined just slightly bigger and Calipers from REAR mitsubishi EVO 789. Just needed 1 washer for the mount bolt. (you want to avoid that if you can because there is a lot of pressure on those bolts when brakes are applied) Still working out the fronts. I must have ordered the wrong Rotors for the front. Going to try Mercedes rotors to see if I can get away from adding washers.

Most of your "Cobra" brake upgrades require that you use 17 inch or larger wheels. I do know that when I upgraded my 1997 Crown Vic front brakes (11.75 inch) to 2001 Lincoln Town Car big brakes (12.5 inch) with the dual-piston calipers. I had to go to 17 inch wheels (up from factory 15 inch) just to have enough clearance so the wheel didn't rub the outside of the caliper (where the pads go in). The Mustang factory wheels up to 2001 worked perfectly because of the offset needed.

Wow, that's pretty informative thanks man! I'm just curious if you know, is the 4Runner booster smaller in diameter than the A70 one? Mine has no ABS if it matters. I know a late 80's Tacoma is smaller. I'm in the process of swapping a 3uz and probably will need the extra clearance. Figured two birds, one stone...etc. Thanks

+S.T.R. upgrading brakes for ANY style of track is necessary. I'm a MK3 supra owner and one of the flaws with this car is it's heavy, and the brakes just dont cut it. i have about 600-700lbs of weight dropped from my mk3 and when going down step down hills you can feel the weight of the car in brakes. The factory brakes just dont cut it. One more thing to point out Mustang Cobra brakes are not direct bolt on, they require an adapter sold through drift motion which gives you everything to complete the swap. none the less this is an awesome video! By introducing a pretty bolt on brake upgrade for these cars would make it easier for newcomers to the A70 chassis to modify and for previous owners such as myself, get new ideas. I'm still in a toss up between doing cobra or s500 brakes because I plan to keep my supra for years. I'm just thinking 20 some odd years from which set up will be easier to get parts from

I know this video has been up for a few years. The one thing I did notice is that the brake rotors are on the wrong sides. He has the right side (passenger side) rotor on the driver side. Other than that awesome video. I plan to do this to my own Supra.

Considering a DIY brake upgrade in the future. So to make it work you just need the caliper with the right hardware, right brake pad, and a rotor with the same stud pattern as your hub? Also, how do you find the right pad for your caliper? Do they make pads for the caliper or is it by the car (which the caliper) is originally from? Thanks. Just wondering as I've always wanted to get a big caliper from Japan say a Brembo or endless and don't really know how I'd go about finding a pad that fits.

Like mentioned in the video a good fella named Edwin discovered which rotors and calipers fit. The calipers are for a Mercedes s500, so you just get the brake pads for the s500. I discovered AE86 brake hoses fit just by luck. I have links to everything you need for this upgrade in the description

fordgt9t i didnt use one, it seemed to be center well on my lug studs which are aftermarket i dont know if itd be any different for OE studs or not. But i didnt notice any issues while drive or anything

@12:18, it says you plan to swap the master cylinder with a 96 4Runner ABS master cylinder. So i picked one up, actually a 2000 4Runner Abs, 96-00 4Runner use the same master cylinders. Anyways, this abs type unit has 2 mounting holes, while i noticed the non-abs type has 4 mounting holes. i was wondering if you could confirm or clarify which exact year/type master cylinder to look for

Just to let ya know ..doing this bbk and can’t find 68mm to 60.1 hub centric rings..plastic only 🤨 or can hav 2 custom made for 80 buks 🤷‍♂️ do yourself a favor and use the Mercedes rotors..they are alittle bigger in diameter and a mil thicker ..wish I did more research lol ..now I havt to wait..and those 86 Corolla gets brake lines look sketchy..just use mk3 ones and thread in the banjo bolt ...unless someone knows where to get these rings in aluminum..post it please 🙏

use 2012 Mercedez Benz R Class rotors (330mm) along with 60mm ID to 67mm OD hub centric rings & no need to modify the caliper ;) slotted & drilled are like $57 a piece. your welcome. lol

The only parts you NEED are these 324mm 350z Front Rotors amzn.to/2k5bLbm 2001 S500 Front Calipers (left) amzn.to/2lqzP4u (right) amzn.to/2lqfgFE 2001 S500 Front brake pads amzn.to/2kVtscr AE86 front brake hose (2) amzn.to/2lqwYsl 12x1.5 Bolts (4) with some M12 washers. Some say to use a hub ring but i didnt and I have 0 issues.

Go to a real hardware store. Home depot and lowes dont count, their metric hardware is awful

You dont NEED to, but it certainly wont hurt to. I believe a 94 4runner booster is an upgrade for this car, I MIGHT do it.

the caliper has its own bracket thats part of the caliper, which bolts to the knuckle

I prefer the 1986 Corolla GTS brake hose, but people have said they used the original supra hose without issues.

Um you need a shim between the hub and the rotor since you are now resting all the weight fo the car on the lugs.

Poor Man Mods well updates to follow, they are off of a 2001 S600 with 2004 c32 rotors @ 345mm by 30-32mm, it's huge!

Putting more than one washer on any fastener is stupid, if you need to space out a bolt; find a nut that is the same threads and is as thick as you need.
