In this video I will be changing my own disks and pads on my 987 Boxster S.
This turns out to be easier said than done as every bolt was seized in place and needed alot of force to get them moving.
The kit i used from design 911 can be found here

Thanks, Will... for convincing me to let a brake mechanic do that job. When cleaning your car, spend some time getting the inside of your rims and calipers clean and muck free. Doesn't hurt to pull the wheels off every so often and get right in there. Might avoid a shedload of drama next time and trust me, you'll notice difference when looking at your car side on.

Thanks for watching mate:) Now that I've done it and have some better tools I think i might give it a go next time. Hopefully it will be easier.

That was a good opportunity to clean the callipers and the back of the wheels. Good job done 👍

Thanks for watching! I'm always keen to have a try. It usually ends up taking longer than expected. I have a few more jobs to do on this car .

Back off the handbrake adjusters before removing rear discs, don't ask how I know ;) though ypurs looked beyond salvage already, was that the lining that got pulled off? they need adjusting back after new discs fitted, when resetting push the pads back into calipers so they don't drag the disc. If you're drilling out a few seized/sheared bolts or studs invest in a left hand cobalt drill set, the opposite rotation of the drill can help remove the stuck item.

Thanks for watching! Handbrake shoes will be my next job. After watching some videos I did come across the use of left handed screws. They look to be exactly what I needed. I will get some jut to have in the tool box :)

Lol at the claw hammer. Lump hammer and some punches would have had that pin out easier. Plus gas the night before worst case.

Thanks for watching. I’ll keep in mind for next time. Had to make do with what I got. Always building my tool kit. 😀

yeah, I wanted to say the same thing, the hammer you used is wrong for this job

Downside to DIY. You always need more tools than you already have.

I hope you used a wire brush to clean all the surfaces and then slathered all those parts with some sort of anti-seize. Other wise I suspect you can expect the same thing the next time around. That UK climate is harsh on cars.

Thanks for watching. Even got the pins in the lathe to get all the corrosion off. Was a bit short on time in the evenings so I missed a few bits of filming. 😊

Good deal!! Doesn’t seem like too bad of a job IF things aren’t seized. I need to do the brush fluid on my 997.1 and my wife’s 987.2. I usually leave that to the pros but I picked up a pressure bleeder thing, so I’ll give it a shot myself.

A little copperease on the pins when fitting will save you all that trouble next time. Also should have put the old pads back in until you have replaced the discs.

Thanks for watching. Oh dear I’ll go back and change it if needs. I put them in the same way they came out. always looking to learn though shouldn’t take long to swap them round. 😀

Wheels off and clean wheelhouse and surroundings on a regular basis….lubricate where needed. Salt…..😢

So much salt on the roads recently with more snow forecast. The UK roads seem to have been quite hard on this car.
