I love the butterfly goldfish. They require (generally) 15 gals per fish. I had them for several years.

Get a group of Cory catfish. They’d be perfect for cleaning, keeping Einstein company, and they would for the most part, stay out of eyesight and not take the attention off of Einstein. Also they only grow a couple inches long max

A small koi. They will keep their hormone contained when they are in a smaller space, so they don't grow. But if they have a large space they release it

Get Einstein a shubunkin! They're a a long-finned, calico comet (and maybe a personal favorite, after butterfly koi). Eventually, the golds are both gonna be too big for the micro pond, but they'll be pretty in there for now.

Add Rubbernose or Bristlenose Plecos which eat algae and get along with Gold Fish. Also I've read to add Ghost or Red Cherry shrimp. Red cherry shrimp also eat algae and they can also provide food for you Gold Fish.

I would say put another fancy goldfish in the mini pond. Maybe a different colour. I personally like the black ones that have the big eyes. There are also black and white ones called panda goldfish. Could name it Po, like kung fu panda :)

Try a fantail or butterfly goldfish! Then they can go in the small pond when they outgrow the micro pond!

Regarding the Goldfish: The micropond is too small. Goldfish need some place, so you might wanna get Einstein a bigger pond and some company. The moscitofish are 'bout the right size for the micropond. You could also keep some tropical aquarium fish such as Guppys or Medaka. As it is hotter in Alabama than here in Germany, that should work even in the winter!

You might need to cover the fence up with some wood or chicken wire, cause I noticed a small gap but the turtles will dig under that and get out

Get a Black Moore has the same big fan tail can get over 8 inches. The lionhead oranda will reach this size also.

The DIY pound turned out really good! congrats! If I may suggest: the cuts you did on the "grass homes" to allow the turtles to run out of the sun...you could do the wholes without the little step...cutting it entirely, allowing the turtles to just walk inside of it. :)

turtles like to dig, even aquatic ones. If you want to make sure they cant get on you may want to bury some chickenwire just a couple inches along the fence and edging to make sure you dont end up minus some turtles.

Get a gold and black Blackmoor (telescope eye) and name it moonlight. Sorta a classic goldfish choice for overhead goldfish enclosure

I used to have goldfish and I guess it’s bad for them to eat flakes on the surface because they can inhale air and it can make them bloated instead put the flakes in a cup of the tank water and the food will sink a little.

You should really use goldfish pellets instead of flakes they keep the tank a lot cleaner and don’t clog the filter which is probably why it stays cleaner
