I'm thinking about building a pond but I dont have access to electricity in the area I'd like to build. Suggestions? Also what else is needed to keep this running, clean, and clear?

I HAVE A WATER FILTER BUT SOMEHOW DOESNT KEEP THE WATER AS CLEAN AND CLEAR AS IT ADVERTISED WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND THERE'S NOT REALLY ALOT OF VIDEOS THAT SHOW HOW TO REALLY SET UP FILTER AND MEDIA FOR TURTLES. I'm going to do a pond this year for my northern turtles, right next to my garden. I'm worried about them digging under even if I sink something 1 foot down.

Did you end up using any substrate? I have seen a few different opinions online about this. 2. How has the pond held up so far, any issues? 3. What is the upkeep like? It would have been much easier to use a pick axe to tear the dirt up first. Then scoop it out with the shovel
